Angelina Jolie put her storied Los Feliz estate on the market in May, marking the latest chapter in a house that has already had more than a few famous owners. Now it has a new one: Madonna, who has reportedly bought the former Cecil B. DeMille estate for $24.75 million.
Jolie bought the property for $24.5 million in 2017 and listed it this spring for $29.85 million. It ultimately sold for just $250,000 more than she paid nearly a decade ago. Madonna apparently didn’t need to spend much time getting acquainted with the place. According to the New York Post, her team arranged a private tour after she expressed interest in the property, even though she wasn’t in Los Angeles at the time.

The two-acre estate sits behind gates in the historic Laughlin Park enclave in Los Feliz that has long attracted actors, musicians, and filmmakers, including Carole Lombard, Cary Grant, Ellen Pompeo, and Kristen Stewart. There’s plenty to appreciate about the property beyond the celebrity roll call.
The main residence dates to 1913, with many of its old Hollywood details intact, and spans about 11,000 square feet, with six bedrooms and 10 bathrooms, plus a guesthouse, pool house, gym, tea house, and detached garage. Along with a mahogany-paneled dining room, a step-down living room, and a library, there are numerous arched French doors and multiple fireplaces. The primary suite has its own fireplace, sitting room, dressing room, and terrace.

Cecil B. DeMille, who directed some of Hollywood’s biggest early epics, including The Ten Commandments and Samson and Delilah, bought the property in 1916 and spent decades there, eventually expanding the estate around 1920 by acquiring a neighboring house that had previously been leased by Charlie Chaplin. The estate remained in the DeMille family until the late 1980s.
Jolie, who has owned a traditional longhouse on a rural estate in Cambodia for more than 20 years, reportedly decided to part with her Laughlin Park home as part of her plan to leave Los Angeles once the last of her six children reached adulthood.
Madonna, meanwhile, is no stranger to L.A. real estate. She once owned the eccentric Castillo del Lago mansion high above Beachwood Canyon and a French Country-style home on Sunset Boulevard in Beverly Hills, as well as The Weeknd’s former compound in Hidden Hills, which she bought in 2021 for $19.3 million and sold for $23 million in 2023. The multimillion purchase adds a new address to the singer’s already far-flung real estate portfolio, which stretches from New York City to the Hamptons, London, and Portugal.
