The Duo Behind SoCal’s Vegan Fave Café Gratitude List Their Home for $18 Million

When Chris and Lisa Bonbright, the owners and operators of SoCal’s Café Gratitude and Gracias Madre, bought their Beverly Hills home in the early 2000s, they tapped designer Wendy Haworth to bring the luxe bohemian-chic vibe she created at most of their buzzy vegan eateries to the 1950s residence.

Now, after more than two decades and several years on the rental market, the couple has decided to hand over the keys to their traditional Hamptons-inspired property, asking a dash under $18 million. Billy Rose of The Agency holds the listing.

The vaulted primary bedroom comes with a fireside sitting area and French doors opening to a patio.

Set on a leafy parcel spanning nearly half an acre, on a prime street in the desirable Flats neighborhood, the white wood-clad and black-shuttered structure offers a total of five bedrooms and half a dozen bathrooms in roughly 7,000 square feet. A sprawling columned porch introduces the three-story abode, which boasts classically elegant yet highly livable interiors showcasing a mix of tile and dark hardwood floors, custom-built furnishings, vaulted wood-beam ceilings, and arched niches and doorways.

Highlights include a living room sporting a stone fireplace, a refined dining room adorned with crisp white wainscoting, a bar-equipped family room, and an eat-in kitchen outfitted with Wolf and Dacor appliances. A wood-paneled study, an office, and a guest suite are also on the main level, along with a hotel-like primary retreat offering a fireside sitting area, French doors spilling out to a patio, and dual walk-in closets and baths.

The grassy backyard is anchored by a heated swimming pool and spa.

A sitting room and two bedrooms with walk-in closets and a shared bath can be found upstairs, while the lower level holds a media room with Dolby surround sound, a recreation space, and a pair of wardrobe/glam rooms.

Almost every room in the house opens to the picturesque Scott Shrader-landscaped grounds, which are interwoven with gardens and lemon trees and host a pool and spa, a pavilion warmed by a wood-burning fireplace, and an alfresco dining area. There’s also a guesthouse, plus an attached garage.
