Derek Jeter’s Former Manhattan Penthouse Swings Onto the Market for $16.5 Million

Another day, another professional athlete’s home is up for grabs. First, it was the bonkers Orlando-area mansion of MLB legend Johnny Damon. Now, the former Manhattan penthouse of fellow retired New York Yankees player Derek Jeter has hit the market.

Listed for $16.5 million with Gisela Vergara and Shawn Felker at Corcoran, the 5,380-square-foot aerie is perched atop 845 United Nations Plaza—also known as Trump World Tower. Mr. November splashed out a cool $12.7 million for the place back in 2001 and sold the condo in September 2012 for a hefty $15.5 million to Silvio Luiz Reichert, according to The New York Times. Reichert reportedly purchased the property through a limited liability company that’s linked to Anheuser-Busch.

“It’s really breathtaking,” Vergara told Mansion Global. “You walk in its triple exposure, floor-to-ceiling windows. From every room you’re seeing landmarks. Every bedroom, the office, the kitchen—it’s truly outstanding.”

Since the shortstop moved out, the palatial pad has undergone a total renovation. Upon entering the home, you’re first greeted with striking views of the Empire State Building, Central Park, the George Washington Bridge, and One World Trade. A few of the apartment’s other standout features include its soaring 16-foot ceilings and massive slate fireplace. Elsewhere, the spread’s 79-foot frontage along East 47th Street connects the living, dining, and entertainment areas.

The apartment has been totally renovated since Jeter sold it in 2012.

The eat-in chef’s kitchen has been decked out with custom cabinets and top-of-the-line appliances from Wolf and Sub-Zero. At the center is a large island that can accommodate all of your catering needs. The penthouse itself is broken into two wings. On one side, you have the primary bedroom, which faces out to the East River. The ensuite main bathroom adds to the sense of luxury and sports a free-standing soaking tub, a rain shower, white marble tile, and custom cabinetry. Meanwhile, the other half of the home holds a swanky wood-paneled office and an ensuite guest room.

The aerie has 14-foot floor-to-ceiling windows that overlook New York City.

“This completely remodeled extraordinary property will take your breath away during the day or evening watching the most gorgeous sunset of Manhattan,” notes the listing. “Truly one of a kind, this is a rare offering opportunity to claim a residence that transcends the ordinary either for a private living or the most special entertainment alike.”

MLB Legend Johnny Damon Lists His Massive Florida Mansion for $30 Million

Move over, Walt Disney World. Retired MLB star Johnny Damon built his own adult playground in Florida, and the over-the-top Florida mansion is now on the market for an eye-watering $30 million.

Located in Windermere, a suburb of Orlando, the sprawling property sits on a nearly five-acre lot with 540 feet of frontage along Lake Butler. According to The Wall Street Journal, which first reported on the listing, the retired MLB star and his wife, Michelle, acquired the land in 2007 for $4 million. The 30,000-square-foot estate was later completed in 2010, and from the looks of it, no expense was spared in the construction.

“The owners really took the time to envision, design, and build a dream home, one that meets every standard of luxury, ideal for both family living and also perfect for entertaining,” said Alice Anne Jackson with Corcoran Premier Realty in a press statement.

Johnny Damon’s mansion in near Orlando includes a two-lane bowling alley with graffitied walls.

Altogether, the palatial residence comprises nine bedrooms and a whopping 15 bathrooms. In terms of amenities, well, it’s got just about every perk you could think of. Hair salon? Check. Two-lane bowling alley. Of course. A gym? As a matter of fact, there are two! The abode also features a cigar lounge, an arcade, a sports bar, a movie theater, a music room, plus a sauna, steam room, and meditation area. “You never run out of things to do,” Damon told the WSJ.

The 30,000-square-foot home includes a custom sports bar.

Elsewhere, the kitchen is any aspiring chef’s dream, equipped with large islands, a walk-in pantry, and a breakfast bar. There’s also a separate catering kitchen, because why not?

Outside, the grounds could definitely be mistaken for a theme park. There’s a massive, resort-style saltwater pool with a grotto, spa, slide, and even a swim-up hibachi grill and bar. For the adventurous types, you can soar through the skies on the property’s zipline or channel your inner athlete on the sports court.

The former outfielder for the New York Yankees and Boston Red Sox told the newspaper he’s selling the home so he and his wife Michelle can travel more now that their six kids are grown. (Damon has two other kids from a previous marriage.) Since Damon’s retirement in 2012, the two-time World Series champ and his wife have made their rounds the reality TV circuit. Most recently, they appeared (twice!) as charter guests on Bravo’s Below Deck. Damon also had a brief stint on Dancing With the Stars in 2018 and Celebrity Apprentice, hosted by Donald Trump. In 2020, he was even appointed to Donald Trump’s Council on Sport, Fitness, and Nutrition.

Mookie Betts’s $10 Million LA Mansion Comes With a Custom Indoor Basketball Court

After a World Series win in 2020, Dodgers’ outfielder Mookie Betts did what any pro athlete would do—he bought himself a new house. Now, the MLB player has put that same Los Angeles manse on the market, but this time, it comes with custom touches in tow.

The six-time All-Star is selling his 9,415-square-foot estate in Encino for a hefty $9.9 million. For context, Betts originally paid $7.6 million for the spread, which he scooped up from UCLA coach Chip Kelly. The property was recently built in 2018; however, it’s seen a fair share of swanky upgrades since then. Most notably, Betts installed an exercise facility and a light-blue indoor basketball court that he emblazoned with the initials “MB.”

Mookie Betts’s Los Angeles home has hit the market for $9.9 million, and it includes a custom indoor basketball court.

Elsewhere, the grounds offer a detached, two-story guest house equipped with two bedrooms, a full kitchen and a living room on the first floor. The half-acre compound is also decked out with a zero-edge swimming pool, a sunken fire pit, an outdoor kitchen and a cabana. Of course, if you’d rather work on your golf game, you’ll have a putting green all to yourself.

At the heart of the compound is the main residence, which has a whopping nine bedrooms and 10 bathrooms. Internally, you’ll find soaring high ceilings and wood floors throughout. In the double-height foyer, there’s a striking, curved staircase with a skylight above. Nearby, the living room sports its own fireplace and the chef’s kitchen has been outfitted with top-of-the-line appliances, a spacious walk-in pantry and sparkling quartz countertops.

The home was built in 2018 and has wood flooring and soaring ceiling throughout.

For entertainment, you’ll have your choice between movie nights at the home theater or going for a steam in the sauna. Naturally, the primary suite is a sublime retreat from the rest of the pad. The space has not one but two massive walk-in closets, dual spa-like en suite bathrooms, a sitting area with its own TV and fireplace, in addition to a private balcony. While there’s no word on where Betts is headed, rest assured his $365 million contract with the Dodgers will keep him in the LA area for the next decade.

Baseball Great David Ortiz’s Miami Mansion Hits the Market for $12.5 Million

While David Ortiz’s MLB career might be over, Big Papi is still taking big swings—the latest being the massive Miami manse he built.

The former Boston Red Sox slugger has hoisted his home in South Florida’s Pinecrest neighborhood onto the market and for $12.5 million. According to records, the American League All-Star originally bought the one-acre lot back in 2016, the same year he announced his retirement. He then custom-built an uber-modern estate in 2019 and had it decked out with its own state-of-the-art movie theater, an elevator and, wait for it, a sports bar with enough space to mount nine TVs.

David “Big Papi” Ortiz is selling his Miami mansion for $12.5 million

1 OAK Studios / ONE Sotheby’s International Realty

Altogether, the spread measures a whopping 10,200 square feet and includes five bedrooms and eight bathrooms across two stories. Outdoors, you’ll find a sparkling swimming pool, a spa, shower and summer kitchen. The tropical grounds are also dotted with multiple fire pits that you can cozy up next to, a gazebo, lush greenery and a reflecting pool.

Internally, giant full-length windows and soaring high ceilings bring in a ton of extra sun making the whole space feel bright and airy. From the looks of it, it’s clear that the superstar athlete liked to entertain. There are two different living areas to kick back in, an expansive dining room, plus a great room. Naturally, the kitchen has plenty of space to prep for guests with dual refrigerators, a large center island and a walk-in pantry.

The primary suite has a hidden TV that drops down from the ceiling

1 OAK Studios / ONE Sotheby’s International Realty

Of course, the primary suite is as impressive as the rest of the property, if not more, outfitted with its own sitting area, spa bath, soaking tub and 16-foot shower. Considering there was nowhere to put the TV that wouldn’t interrupt the views, Big Papi decided to install a hidden screen that unfolds straight from the ceiling instead. Pretty clever, huh?

MLB Hall of Famer Larry Walker’s Former Colorado Mansion Hits the Market for $4 Million

In 2020, Larry Walker made history as the first ever Rockies player to be inducted into the Baseball Hall of Fame. Now, the retired slugger’s former Colorado mountain mansion is up for grabs.

Originally built in 1996, Walker’s one-time estate has hit the market for $3.9 million and offers up some seriously stunning vistas. Located less than an hour outside of Denver and nestled into the foothills of the Rocky Mountains, the wilderness residence features eight bedrooms and 12 bathrooms. Spanning 12,452 square feet, the home sits on a roughly six-and-a-half-acre lot in the secluded enclave of Evergreen.

“The previous owners of this Hall of Fame home paid special attention to the home’s exterior, mirroring what is typically only found along some of the state’s best hiking and biking trails,” notes the listing, which is held by Delroy Gill and Stuart Crowell of LIV Sotheby’s International Realty. The outdoor areas here really do feel like stepping into a postcard-worthy park. Think a spacious backyard with an expansive deck and a lush, private stone patio. At the front, you’re greeted with a cascading waterfall feature reminiscent of what you might come across on a scenic trek.

A mountain mansion in Colorado once owned by Rockies player Larry Walker just listed for $3.9 million.

Inside, the manse has seen its fair share of modernizations throughout the years. Today, you’ll find vaulted ceilings, six fireplaces and brand-new hardwood flooring throughout. Of course, what would a renovation be without the addition of some contemporary amenities? The pad has been updated with a wine cellar, a sauna, a library, a gym and a home theater. There’s also a guest house positioned above the garage.

The home has been renovated and includes a home theater and game room in the basement.

    Fortem Media/LIV Sotheby’s International Realty

Upon entering the main home, a statement-making grand staircase is the first thing to catch your eye, outfitted with rod iron handrails. If you’re curious, it leads up to a lofted living room that has perhaps the best views of the nearby mountains. Elsewhere, a chef’s kitchen has been decked out with state-of-the-art appliances including two ovens, three stovetop ranges and a gigantic fridge. A large center island acts as the anchor of the space. Downstairs, the basement has been converted into the ultimate game room, with its own billiards table and bar. The only thing Walker’s one-time home is missing? A batting cage.
