The 248 bedroom scheme by York-based developer S Harrison is made up of two buildings. It will have 35 studio apartments. The rest will be cluster apartments made up of six to 10 bedrooms.
Near the Water of Leith, the development is expected to serve students from the University of Edinburgh, Edinburgh Napier University, and Heriot-Watt University.
Work on the project will start in early 2021 and be ready for students in September 2022.
The development features a games area, gym, cinema, laundry and secure cycle storage.
“We are delighted with this decision and look forward to transforming this brownfield site into a high-quality student accommodation scheme,” said S Harrison development director David Clancy.
“There’s no doubt this development will enhance the vibrancy of the area,” Clancy added. “It will be home to hundreds of socially active residents, which will benefit the local economy, whilst helping to free up general housing stock, in accordance with The City of Edinburgh Council’s student guidance.”
S Harrison is also at work delivering a 394-bedrooms student accommodation scheme at the corner of Westfield Road and Westfield Avenue, close to Murrayfield Stadium.
