Claire Danes and Hugh Dancy have officially offloaded a residence in the West Village neighborhood of Manhattan they acquired over a decade ago, in late 2012, for $6.8 million.
As first reported by The Wall Street Journal, the fully revamped Greek Revival townhouse has sold to an unidentified buyer for $9.9 million, slightly over the nearly $9.8 million asking price the married entertainment industry veterans stuck on the property last August. Tamer Howard of the Corcoran Group held the listing, with Marie-Claire Gladstone of Corcoran repping the buyer.
The townhouse’s striking wood and metal staircase is adorned with a woven leather railing.

The five-story red brick and wood-accented structure has four bedrooms and five baths in roughly 3,000 square feet of living space accompanied by three outdoor spaces. Billed in marketing materials as a “really happy, romantic, special place,” the first floor is highlighted by an entry foyer/mudroom that flows to a coat closet, a powder room, and an office. A fireside living and dining area connects to the kitchen, which boasts a glass-block ceiling, Miele appliances, and access to an alfresco dining space.
Holding court on the second floor is a den/media room sporting a fireplace, built-in bookcases, a wet bar, and glass doors spilling out to a trellis-shaded terrace. There’s also a fireside guest bedroom and full bath. Two more bedrooms can be found on the third level, while the entire floor above contains a spacious primary suite that has a bath equipped with a steam shower and clawfoot soaking tub. Nearby steps lead up to a rooftop deck with a garden, an outdoor kitchen, and views of the One World Trade Center, and rounding it all out is a finished basement hosting a wine cellar.
A bank of pocketing doors conceal the office space from public view.

The couple initially put the place on the market because they needed more space for their three children and frequent family guests. Word on the street has it they’ve since doled out $13 million for a swanky townhouse near Gramercy Park that has eight bedrooms and 10 baths in 8,500 square feet.
