A little more than two months after he passed away on what would have been his 65th birthday, the longtime Indiana estate of Indianapolis Colts owner Jim Irsay is officially up for sale.
Set on over nine acres bordering Crooked Stick Golf Club in the affluent city of Carmel, just north of Indianapolis, the lavish property contains a two-story main home and a pair of standalone guesthouses spanning a combined 25,800 square feet. Glitzy creature comforts include an indoor basketball court emblazoned with Colt logos, a gym, a cinema, a speakeasy, seven fireplaces, a private par-3 golf hole, and not one but two pools, one inside and another outside.
All that extravagance will set a buyer back to the tune of $12 million, with an offer already pending after only five days on the market. Steve Decatur and Jan Sutton of the Decatur Group at Century 21 Scheetz hold the listing.

Built in 1996, the massive home is “designed for both serenity and grandeur,” per marketing materials, and features a gated guardhouse and a substantial fountain-clad motor court in addition to dedicated garage bays for eight vehicles.
In addition to six bedrooms and 12 baths, the primary dwelling has a living room with a wood-beamed ceiling, a stone fireplace, and a bank of French doors leading out to a covered terrace, as well as a chandelier-topped dining room. A family room connects to the kitchen, which features dark-hued cabinetry, an eat-in island, and top-notch stainless appliances. There’s also a handsome wood-paneled study, nanny’s quarters with a kitchen, and two primary suites, one on the main floor and the other upstairs.

As for the previously mentioned guesthouses, a newly built retreat called “The Cabin” comes with three bedrooms and four baths, while a cozy cottage offers two bedrooms and two baths. Topping it all off are yet more posh perks, from a tennis court with a viewing pavilion and a Zen garden to a custom children’s play area and a couple of ponds.
Irsay, who was worth a reported $4.8 billion per Forbes, was the principal owner, chairman, and CEO of the Colts from 1997 until his death, with the team now under the ownership of his three daughters, Carlie Irsay-Gordon, Casey Foyt, and Kalen Jackson. The good-hearted yet hard-living NFL chief was equally known for his vast collection of music and sports memorabilia, which is highlighted by guitars that once belonged to rock legends the likes of Bob Dylan, Eric Clapton, Jerry Garcia, George Harrison, and Prince.
