John Huston’s Former L.A. Ranch Has a Miniature Disney Railroad, and It Just Listed for $20 Million

All aboard: A one-of-a-kind ranch in Tarzana, California, with its own fully operational miniature train, has just popped up for sale.

The charming abode, which is on the market for $20 million with David Kramer of Compass and Paul Czako of Gussman Czako Estates, was originally built for Academy Award-winning actor-director John Huston in 1941. The late Hollywood legend, famous for The Maltese Falcon, The African Queen, and The Treasure of the Sierra Madre, lived at the private estate back when the San Fernando Valley still had a Wild West vibe. He welcomed many big-name “cowboys” into his digs, including famed architect Frank Lloyd Wright.

John Huston’s former Los Angeles home is up for sale.

    Ryan Lahiff

The 4.44-acre estate offers more than just an A-list pedigree, though. In 1959, the gated compound was snapped up by Gordon and Holly MacLean, friends of Disney and die-hard train collectors, who added one truly unique feature. With Disney’s input, the MacLeans built the Tunnel, Cut & Trestle Railroad: a 7.5-inch gauge track that allows a tiny train to wind through the grounds. The circuit includes bridges, turntables, road signs, and a 240-foot tunnel that is long enough to make you briefly forget you’re in Los Angeles. The dual-track system is no toy—it’s engineered to run steam, electric, and propane-powered engines, giving the new owner plenty of options for trains.

Over the years, the railroad has become a neighborhood legend, hosting community rides and drawing in fellow rail buffs from the L.A. Live Steamers Museum in Griffith Park. Each owner has kept the tradition alive—and yes, a mini-train is included in the sale.

The train runs past a red barn-turned-entertaining lodge.

The rest of the estate is just as over-the-top. There’s a 12,170-square-foot, three-story main house with six bedrooms, 10 bathrooms, and nine fireplaces. A stone-lined pool flows partially under the house. A reimagined red barn—once a utilitarian structure, now an entertaining lodge—adds another 2,775 square feet, plus a kitchen, bar, bedroom, and loft. Toss in an 807-square-foot guest cottage, a nearly 2,000-square-foot train depot, and a storage wing, because why not? All up, eight bedrooms, 14 bathrooms, and 11 fireplaces are spread across more than 17,000 square feet of living space.

The main home features vaulted wood ceilings and nine fireplaces.

    Ryan Lahiff

Outside, the grounds feel like a private park, with koi ponds, stone paths, rolling lawns, a tennis court, a dog run, and a children’s play area. You could hike up the hills, host a wedding, or fire up the steam engine for a spin around the trestle—whatever takes your fancy. The Tarzana compound is equal parts film set, fantasy camp, and legacy property, making it a great addition to any portfolio.

Bethenny Frankel Sold Her Her Historic Greenwich Estate in a Clandestine $7.8 Million Deal

One of Greenwich’s oldest residences with ties to a Real Housewives icon has quietly been sold.

Known as Applejack Farm and dating to 1743, the elegant compound has been offloaded by Bravo television star Bethenny Frankel for $7.8 million. The Skinnygirl Cocktails founder snapped up the home, formerly owned by Connecticut governor Lowell Weicker, in August 2021 for $4.25 million. She went on to redesign several areas of the three-acre estate that comprises a five-bedroom main residence, two-bedroom guest cottage, studio, and a converted barn.

Back in April, the Queens-born entrepreneur announced via TikTok that she was relocating to Florida with her daughter Bryn Hoppy for “personal and professional reasons.” Turns out, she had secured a landing spot nearly a year prior, a Miami Beach condo she acquired in June 2024 for $1.67 million. Frankel’s fans will note that the beachfront condo is just the latest addition to her evolving property portfolio, which once included a nearly $7 million New York City loft apartment and currently holds a gated estate in the Hamptons.

The fireside library in the main house sports embossed faux crocodile skin wallpaper on the ceiling.

    Mike Cinelli/Jump Visual

In a statement, Jeff Jackson of Corcoran Centric Realty, who represented Frankel in the off-market sale, said that “Applejack Farm is a rare blend of historic pedigree and modern luxury nestled in the heart of the Golden Triangle of Greenwich.” The “triangle,” once dubbed the nation’s wealthiest neighborhood according to an analysis, is well-known for its sprawling estates. Martha Z. Jeffrey and Anne Ogilvy of Sotheby’s International Greenwich Brokerage represented the buyer of Frankel’s idyllic retreat within the coveted community.

Floral wallpaper enhances the foyer, where an arched doorway leads from the center hall foyer into a wood-paneled living room with a brick fireplace. Beyond is a window-lined sunroom/TV room with a white lacquer ceiling. Natural light pools on the glossy wood floor in the formal dining room, while Frankel updated the massive chef’s kitchen with a La Cornue range, marble countertops, and a sunny breakfast nook with built-in seating.

The primary bedroom features a stone wood-burning fireplace.

Other standouts on the main floor include a posh family room and library that features a green faux-crocodile skin ceiling treatment as well as access to a covered back porch with unobstructed views of the manicured landscape. Two beverage bars include one on the lower level, alongside a media room, gym space, and office. All five bedrooms in the main house are upstairs, including the primary suite with a wood-burning fireplace and dual spa-grade bathrooms.

The farm’s new owner also gained manicured gardens and ample patio space for outdoor dining and lounging, along with a two-bedroom, two-bath guest cottage, a standalone studio, a three-bay garage, and a party barn.

Lizzo Relists Her L.A. Home for $14 Million, and It’s About Damn Time

Now that Lizzo’s had some time to settle into the revamped midcentury digs she picked up from actor Jeremy Renner last November for $12.4 million, the Grammy-winning singer, rapper, and classically trained flutist is doubling down on her efforts to sell the modern Beverly Hills home she’s owned for only three years. After first putting the 90210 property on the market six months ago for $16 million with no takers, the place has resurfaced with a substantially reduced $14 million ask. James Harris and David Parnes of Carolwood Estates share the listing.

The Detroit-born musician acquired the sleek wood and stone structure from Warner Brothers CEO and co-chairman Aaron Bay-Schuck in 2022 for $15 million, which means she’s looking at a potential million-dollar loss on her initial investment. Previously owned by English pop singer Harry Styles from 2014 to 2016, the house was subsequently demolished and rebuilt by Simo Design and Fischer Construction before going to Bay-Schuck in late 2019 for $11 million.

A huge two-way fireplace clad in blackened cold-rolled steel separates the living area and kitchen.

Secluded behind walls and gates in the exclusive Oak Pass Road enclave where past and present celebrity neighbors include Lisa Vanderpump, Jessica Alba, Demi Moore, and Channing Tatum, the treehouse-inspired sanctuary features three bedrooms and five baths in a little more than 5,400 square feet of L-shaped living space on two levels anchored by a central open-air atrium.

Vast expanses of glass overlook picturesque canyon and hillside vistas from the downward-sloping lot, while swanky perks range from a movie theater and recording studio/office to a gym and wellness area.

Amenities include a dark-hued recording studio/office and a cozy movie theater.

Other highlights include a formal dining room, plus an adjacent living area sporting a two-way fireplace that connects on the other side to a sleek eat-in kitchen with oil-finished black walnut cabinetry, an eat-in island and countertops in Cielo quartzite, and top-tier Wolf appliances. Large sliding glass doors open to reveal a covered outdoor lounge area.

Elsewhere, a nearly 1,000-square-foot primary suite donning a floating soapstone fireplace and concrete soaking tub is suspended above the oak tree-studded grounds, which unfold across a third of an acre and host a 58-foot zero-edge pool with an inset spa. There’s also a fire pit conversation area, as well as several Ipe wood decks for entertaining.

Late TV Legend Bob Newhart’s Longtime L.A. Home Is Up for Grabs at $10.5 Million

Bob Newhart’s final home on the Westside of Los Angeles is officially available almost a year after his death at age 94. As first reported by The Wall Street Journal, the stand-up comedian and TV sitcom legend moved into the Century City property shortly after it was built in 2016 and lived there until this past July. Now the Spanish Revival villa is up for sale at $10.5 million, with Drew Fenton and Max Lavine of Carolwood Estates holding the listing.

Records show the beloved star and his wife Ginnie, who passed away in 2023, quietly purchased the abode in an off-market deal for around $6.7 million. Nestled in the exclusive guard-gated Enclave at Century Woods community, where celebs the likes of Don Rickles and Jane Fonda have also resided, the multi-level townhouse features four bedrooms and seven baths in roughly 6,600 square feet accessible via an elevator, as well as a curving wrought iron-railed staircase.

An elegant fireside living room off the entry foyer rests beneath a coved ceiling.

An upstairs primary suite sports a fireplace, Juliet balcony, and dual walk-in closets and baths, while a top-level office has its own fireside balcony overlooking city views.

Outdoors, the petite grounds hold a tree-laced patio that’s ideal for alfresco entertaining, along with a turfed dog run and an attached three-car garage. The residence, which comes with a $5,553 monthly HOA fee, is also within walking distance of the shops and restaurants at Westfield Century City mall and just minutes away from Beverly Hills.

An Art World Couple’s Longtime Compound in the Hamptons Lists for $8 Million

For decades, this historic Hamptons barn conversion wasn’t just a residence—it was a creative sanctuary, studio, and social hub. Now, the longtime Southampton compound of the late sculptor Hal Buckner and his late partner, arts patron Dorothy Lichtenstein, widow of pop art icon Roy Lichtenstein, has hit the market for just under $8 million with Pat Garrity at Corcoran. Both Buckner and Lichtenstein died in 2024, he in January at 85 years old and she about six months later at 84.

Set on just over two lush acres, the secluded property is a landmark in every sense—originally the historic Clover Farm Dairy barn belonging to the Dimon family, who farmed this stretch of Southampton since the early 1800s. Buckner and Lichtenstein purchased the barn in 2004 and transformed it into a striking live-work compound, where large-scale abstract sculptures dot the landscape, and creativity was quite literally part of the foundation.

Buckner crafted many of his signature cut-aluminum sculptures on the property.

The 7,200-square-foot compound combines rustic architecture with modern comforts, nestled in one of Southampton’s most peaceful pockets. Buckner created many of his signature cut-aluminum works on the property, while Lichtenstein, a philanthropist, co-founded the Roy Lichtenstein Foundation here. Together, they built a haven that regularly drew an influential cast of friends from the art and literary worlds.

At the heart of the home is a dramatic, light-filled great room with 25-foot ceilings.

    Media Hamptons for Corcoran

The main residence, a converted agrarian building that dates to around 1900, is centered around a cavernous, light-filled great room with soaring 25-foot ceilings. The open floor plan connects living, dining, and kitchen areas. There are five bedrooms and four-and-a-half baths in total, with multiple decks that spill onto the manicured grounds that are dotted with a collection of outdoor sculptures.

The attached artist’s studio—built by the Koral Brothers—spans three levels and includes a full bath, an elevator, and an upper-level catwalk with a viewing balcony. It’s a dream setup for an artist, collector, or anyone who craves a surfeit of creative space.

Between the two structures lies one of the home’s standout features: a riverbed rock garden designed by Buckner and Lichtenstein. Woven with bridges, seating areas, and intricate stonework, it feels less like landscaping and more like an interactive installation. Other more common highlights include a heated swimming pool with two lounge areas, a freestanding hot tub, a two-car garage, and multiple parking areas—all framed by mature plantings and garden paths.

Now offered by Hal’s son, art dealer Troy Buckner—who has represented works by his father and Andy Warhol, to name a few—the home offers a rare opportunity to own not just a beautiful property but an important piece of the Hamptons’s artistic legacy.

A Music Industry Exec’s Boldly Angled Santa Barbara Wine Country Estate Lists for $10 Million

While he was living in the Hollywood Hills neighborhood of Los Angeles about five years ago, Dan Hubbert started dreaming about owning a country home with lots of land, privacy, and animals. The former Sony, Capitol, and Columbia Records executive and his soon-to-be wife Rebecca wound up falling in love with a picturesque ranch tucked away in Central California’s Santa Ynez Valley, about 40 minutes north of Santa Barbara.

The couple immediately knew they had to make it their own and went on to acquire the property for nearly $2.4 million and subsequently undertook an extensive renovation. Now, the current CEO of the top fitness tunes brand Power Music is putting the fully transformed spread back on the market for a dash under $10 million. Carl Gambino and John Bercsi of The Gambino Group at Compass hold the listing.

The mountain-view living area features an angular copper fireplace and a sunken marble bar.

RELATED: Steven Seagal and Kelly LeBrock’s Former 190-Acre California Ranch Lists for $14.5 Million

Nestled beyond an olive tree-lined drive and two-acre pasture, amid a flat elevated mesa within the gated Rancho Estates community, the six-plus-acre compound is centered around a mid-1960s ranch house with three bedrooms and four baths in roughly 4,200 square feet of modern living space boasting vaulted cedar ceilings and several fireplaces complemented by brass, copper, and raked-concrete finishes. Vast expanses of glass overlook sweeping views of the Los Padres National Forest and mountains beyond.

Once inside the steel-framed entry door, highlights include an open-concept great room anchored by a living area sporting an asymmetrical copper-clad fireplace and an Italian marble bar with wine storage. A dining area connects to the kitchen, which comes with burnt-orange cabinetry, open shelves, an eat-in island, and Wolf and Miele appliances. Elsewhere is a den bathed in a deep forest green hue and a fireside primary suite that has a big bath with a freestanding soaking tub, glassy shower, and walk-in closet.

The circular, solar-powered pool and spa are designed to resemble an “artistic pond.”

RELATED: Inside Seven Oaks Ranch, a $20 Million Estate in California That Spans Over 100 Acres

The oak tree-laced grounds host a fire pit, a barbecue station, and a circular infinity pool with an inset spa, along with a variety of fruit trees, berry bushes, champagne grape vines, and an olive grove that recently yielded 55 drums of extra-virgin oil. Additional structures across the property include a guesthouse with an en suite bedroom, a kitchenette, a gym, and an office, as well as a workshop, a chicken coop, and a bee house.

Rounding it all out: a private fiber-optic line for working remotely and a Control4 smart-home system that operates the lights, sound, and security, plus an attached two-car garage. Plans for an entertainment barn also come with the sale.

Hubbert has chosen to sell because his wife’s mother recently passed away. “Since we’re both originally from Connecticut, and still have family there, my mom and siblings, and her dad, we’ve made the tough decision to return East to be closer to them,” he said. “We absolutely adore the Santa Ynez Valley. Our view is arguably the best in the valley. At night we fall asleep to the sounds of owls and coyotes, and wake to birdsong and clucking hens. It’s easily one of the most breathtaking places on Earth.”

Former Celtics Co-Owner Jim Pallotta Lists His Sprawling Massachusetts Estate for $38 Million

When you’ve spent nearly two decades building the perfect family sanctuary—one that doubles as the private playground for a former NBA team co-owner—it’s not easy to say goodbye.

But that’s exactly what Jim Pallotta and his wife, Kim, are doing. Their nearly 20-acre estate and its sprawling 21,000-square-foot mansion in Weston, Massachusetts, a masterpiece of modern grandeur with a dash of English country charm, just hit the market for a whopping $38 million with Mark Doherty of The Sarkis Team at Douglas Elliman and Maggie Gold Seelig of MGS Group Real Estate.

Jim, a co-owner and executive board member of the Boston Celtics from 2002 to 2020, and Kim have called their Ash Street spread home since 2006. But now that their two sons have flown the coop, the couple admits the custom-built abode is simply “too big” for just the two of them, they told The Wall Street Journal. Their plan? To live a tri-coastal lifestyle, splitting time between their other homes in Nantucket, Miami, and Charleston, South Carolina.

RELATED: Red Sox Legend David Ortiz’s Former Miami Mansion Lists for $11.5 Million

The home pairs high ceilings, wide-plank wood floorboards, and intricate moldings with bright, sunlit interiors.

    Eytan Stern Weber/Evan Joseph Studio

The Pallottas’ compound is a rare gem in this prestigious Boston suburb. Designed by Connecticut’s Shope Reno Wharton to evoke an English country estate, the home blends classic architectural details with a ton of modern amenities. Think soaring ceilings, intricate moldings, and sun-drenched rooms.

At the heart of the main floor is a chef’s dream kitchen featuring two large islands, a pizza oven, and a cozy fireplace. The expansive layout also includes multiple formal and informal entertaining spaces, two offices, a guest suite, and a screened porch with a fireplace and built-in grill.

RELATED: The Obamas’ Former Martha’s Vineyard Getaway Hits the Market for $39 Million

The music-listening room has been soundproofed.

    Eytan Stern Weber/Evan Joseph Studio

Upstairs, the palatial primary suite is a retreat within a retreat, sporting dual dressing rooms, a spa-like bathroom, a private sitting area, and an upstairs office. Four additional bedroom suites and a second-floor family room provide plenty of space for guests and kids coming home to visit. Meanwhile, the walk-out lower level is a bona fide entertainment hub, complete with a theater, gym, billiards room, gaming lounge, bar, and wine cellar.

Outside, the resort-style grounds reveal why this estate is truly one of a kind. A sparkling pool with a pool house (full kitchen and bath included), a basketball court, and an oversized four-car garage complete the picture. But perhaps the most delightfully unique feature is the room dedicated to Kim’s extensive collection of antique Santa Claus figurines—an homage to holiday cheer that transforms the house into a winter wonderland each year, The Journal reported.

While the $38 million price tag narrows the field of potential buyers, this estate is poised to set a new record as the most expensive home ever sold in Weston.
