    An Aspiring Race Car Driver Lists Her Peaceful Beverly Hills Retreat for $30 Million

    Though she’s not quite a household name yet, Sayo Haraishi soon hopes to become a regular fixture on the racing circuits. Meanwhile, the aspiring driver has been keeping herself busy spearheading the revamp of a 1970s-era house in the posh Beverly Hills enclave of Trousdale Estates. Now the newly completed spread has just popped up for sale, asking a speck under $30 million.

    Originally acquired by Haraishi back in August 2019 for $5 million, the existing property underwent an extensive four-year remodel by Los Angeles-based Montalba Architects—widely known for its work with Nobu Hotels and Soho House—and includes four bedrooms and five baths sprawled across 7,000 square feet of modern yet warm living space adorned throughout with a mix of hardwood and stone floors, high ceilings, custom millwork, designer lighting and clerestory windows. Walls of glass also provide sweeping city lights, hillside and coastline views.

    Tucked away on a gated parcel spanning over a half-acre, the sleek architectural structure is described in the listing as a “seamless fusion of Japanese-inspired design elements and contemporary luxury.” A set of pivoting double front doors open into the open-concept great room, which is highlighted by a sunken living area centered between a massive linear fireplace with a floating hearth and built-in shelving, plus a spacious dining room adjoining a space that’s big enough to accommodate a large piano for entertaining guests.

    A bookshelf-lined family room connects to the gourmet kitchen, which is outfitted with an eat-in island, top-tier appliances, ample wine storage and an accompanying breakfast nook, and elsewhere is a private office, plus an inviting primary bedroom sporting another linear fireplace, a built-in desk, and showroom-style closet and dressing room, as well as a spa-like bath equipped with dual vanities, a teak-clad soaking tub and separate rainfall shower.

    The amenities continue out to the landscaped grounds, where Zen-like courtyards are bolstered by bonsai and maple trees, a seating area is warmed by a fire-pit, and a curving infinity-edge swimming pool with a Baja shelf and spa is flanked by a sundeck—all overlooking those picturesque vistas. There’s also an attached two-car garage out front.

    Third Eye Blind Frontman Stephan Jenkins’ San Francisco Home Lists for $3.6 Million

    If you’re a fan of Italian Victorian houses, a new listing in San Francisco’s historic Liberty Hill neighborhood—once home to billionaire Mark Zuckerberg—could be for you. 

    Built in 1880, the residence at 76 Liberty Street is the home of Third Eye Blind frontman Stephan Jenkins, who purchased it in 2013 for $2.35 million. The rocker is now offering up his Gilded Age pad for $3.6 million. The price tag affords you access to 2,300 square feet of living space. And the eclectic interiors behind the highly detailed facade just might have you questioning, “How’s It Going To Be” with a signing pen in hand. The house spans two floors with four bedrooms and two and a half baths.

    Attention to detail starts outside the home, where golden fleur-de-lis accent the wrought iron fencing and a graphic black-and-white tile design greets you at the entrance, alongside a door knob display that features a Gothic Revival-like engraving. The narrow foyer welcomes you into the home with dark, wood-polished floors that balance out its gray-and-white color scheme. 

    To the right, there’s a double parlor. A bay window fills the front room with natural light, while a fireplace adds ambiance to the rear parlor, a rocker’s paradise with suede-like charcoal gray-painted walls and contrasting wood accents. Jenkins outfitted the room with a funky fuzzy sofa and a collection of eye-catching contemporary artworks, but, of course, you get to factor in your own flavor.

    Stepping into the sleek Bulthaup-brand kitchen, complete with Gagganeau appliances, feels like a breath of fresh air. Its open floor plan also includes an integrated Sub-Zero fridge, as well as dishwasher drawers, a built-in espresso machine, and an induction cooker. A spacious viewing deck sits just beyond the kitchen’s cozy lounge area, ideal for enjoying morning coffee bathed in the warmth of the sun, or, this being San Francisco, the cool embrace of fog. Alternatively, you could take your tea in the dining room, which features aged, sepia-toned walls and an antique chandelier hanging from a silvery pressed-tin ceiling.

    The primary bedroom offers a long wall of bespoke walnut built-ins for clothing, as well as direct access to a private balcony, while the bathroom mixes the old and the new with gold-toned fixtures, a two-sink marble vanity, and a single-cut marble shower space. Opaque glass in the oversized eight-pane sash windows provides privacy. The other three bedrooms, one with a fireplace, share an up-to-date vintage-style bath with a clawfoot tub.

    There is a basement with laundry (there are also laundry hookups in a closet on the top floor) and an undeveloped attic space for storage or future living space. There’s a jacuzzi and a sauna in the backyard, along with parking for three cars along the side of the house, where there’s an EV charger and an e-bike charging station.

    A Healthcare Mogul Is Selling Three Oceanfront South Florida Properties for $76 Million

    A trio of oceanfront properties owned by Michigan-based health-care entrepreneur Mark Mitchell are simultaneously up for sale in South Florida. Consisting of two mansions and a vacant parcel resting in the exclusive Veromar neighborhood of Vero Beach, directly overlooking the Atlantic, the total asking price is a whopping $76 million. The two homes are listed separately by Cindy O’Dare, Richard Boga and Kristin Dobson with the O’Dare Boga Dobson Group of ONE Sotheby’s International Realty for $42 million and just under $20 million, while the spare lot is asking $14 million.

    The properties were acquired by Mitchell and his wife Colby in two separate deals. The couple purchased a contemporary residence at 3700 Ocean Drive from Alloy founder and chairman Katherine McConvey in summer 2021 for $16.8 million, and subsequently picked up two adjacent lots at 3750 Ocean Drive and 3746 Ocean Drive also owned by the developer for $4.2 million. Together, the three-parcel spread spans over 2.7-acres of land and 400 feet of waterfront footage.

    3700 Ocean Drive features a main house and guesthouse, for a total of eight bedrooms and 12 bathrooms in 18,000 square feet of living space.

    Containing 18,000 square feet of living space with eight bedrooms and 12 baths, the largest modernist structure (above) was built and designed in 2014 by architect Erik Helgen in collaboration with Alloy, then renovated inside and out to the tune of $2 million by the Mitchells. Sitting on roughly 200 feet of oceanfront footage, the walled and gated abode is highlighted by a soaring glass-lined living area centered around a massive two-way fireplace and a pair of fiber-optic lighting installations by Sharon Marston.

    Elsewhere is a sumptuous master retreat boasting a marble and teak bath spotlighted by a steam shower and shell-shaped tub nestled alongside a linear fireplace. Other amenities include four fireplaces, several kitchens, dual offices, a gym, wet bar-equipped screening room and Savant home-automation system, with the palm-laced grounds spanning 1.4 acres and hosting a fire-pit, an 80-foot infinity-edge pool flanked by a tiki hut, and an al fresco lounging and entertaining patio with a pizza oven. There’s also a separate two-story guesthouse and garage space for up to 10 vehicles.

    As for the smaller of the two dwellings (above), it’s perched on a 0.6-acre parcel offering 100 feet of waterfront footage. Completed this year by architect Gregory Anderson and Waters Edge Estates—and originally offered for $21 million, before having been recently reduced to just under $20 million—the custom-built structure features seven bedrooms and nine baths spread across a little more than 7,600 square feet of two-level living space offering a mix of limestone and wide-plank hardwood floors, wood-beam ceilings and picturesque ocean views via floor-to-ceiling walls of glass.

    A great room outfitted with living, dining and family room areas connects to a gourmet kitchen decked out with custom cabinetry, marble countertops, an eat-in island, a butler’s pantry, and top-tier Miele, Sub-Zero and Wolf appliances; and other standout features include an elevator, two primary bedrooms, an office space and entertainment room with a wet bar. A beachfront lanai sporting a saltwater pool and spa also can be found on the premises, complemented by a guesthouse resting atop the three-car garage.

    Rounding it all out is the 0.69-acre vacant parcel (above), which features 100 feet of direct ocean frontage and includes plans available for an 11,000-square-foot estate, per the listing.

    Mitchell founded the nationwide house-call service Visiting Physicians Association and U.S. Medical Management, which sold to Centene Corp. in 2019 for around $325 million. Currently managing partner of Mitchell Family Office, a private-equity firm that invests in health-care ventures, he also maintains a primary home in Michigan, as well as Daxton Hotel in the Detroit suburb of Birmingham.

    Arnold Schwarzenegger’s Daughter Lists Luxe L.A. Townhouse

    Five years ago, producer Christina Schwarzenegger paid $2.8 million for her very first home: a Mediterranean-influenced townhouse on Los Angeles’s desirable Westside. Now 32, the younger daughter of Arnold Schwarzenegger and Maria Shriver has punted the luxury residence back on to the market, asking just a hair under $3.2 million. Located in the posh Brentwood neighborhood, the 2013-built luxury pad is very private and essentially invisible from the street out front, yet remains just a quick jaunt from an array of top-notch restaurants and shopping.

    From the street, a long walkway leads past a locked, camera-watched gate to a peaceful courtyard with an oversized fountain, a couple palm trees, potted plants, and seating area. Inside, the pleasant, casually cool interior decor features mostly neutral shades and was recently updated by a previous owner, lingerie designer Leigh Bantivoglio.

    A fireplace and sets of French doors grace the formal living room, while the dining and family rooms connect to the reasonably spacious kitchen. The typical assortment of high-end stainless Thermador appliances and a textured metal-look backsplash are juxtaposed against the groovy dark hardwood custom cabinetry.     The Mediterranean-style townhome was built in 2012 and is walking distance from an array of upscale shopping and dining destinations.

    Schwarzenegger also made several upgrades and customizations of her own; the listing states “no expense was spared” when it came to luxury features, including a state-of-the-art security system, hual tankless water heaters, a new dual-zone HVAC system, a whole-house water filtration and softening system and a custom surround south system seamlessly integrated with a high-tech home automation system. Also on tap are pricey Serena and Lily wallpaper, custom drapes, and bamboo shades, ideal for at-home privacy and serenity.

    Now in their late 20s and early 30s, the Shriver-Schwarzenegger children have begun making serious real estate moves of their own, buying and selling multimillion dollar homes across Los Angeles, from West Hollywood to Santa Monica.     Artist Chuck Close’s Former Manhattan Home Hits the Market for $8 Million

    Acclaimed artist and photographer Chuck Close lived and worked on Manhattan’s Bond Street for decades up until his passing in 2021 at the age of 81. Now, the late painter’s former Noho apartment is coming on the market for just shy of $8 million.  

    Soon to be listed with Emily Beare of Core NYC, the 2,478-square-foot loft occupies the entire ninth floor of the Deborah Berke-designed building at 48 Bond Street. The architect, the founder of TenBerke, is best known for her work at The New School College of Performing Arts and Yale University School of Art.

    Altogether, the former Close pad comprises four bedrooms, two-and-a-half baths, and an abundance of outdoor space. According to The Real Deal, Close and his wife, Leslie, shelled out a cool $5.85 million for the condo back in 2008. The location was convenient; at the time, Close also owned a 2,500-square-foot live/work studio down the block at 20 Bond Street.

    A Popular YouTuber Is Listing His First SoCal House for $2.4 Million

    Professional gamer Ludwig Ahgren—better known to his fans simply as Ludwig—has hoisted his residence in the far eastern reaches of Los Angeles County onto the market. Records show the professional gamer, and longtime Twitch and YouTube streamer, is asking $2.4 million for the home, which is sited in the suburban city of Diamond Bar, about an hour’s drive from L.A.

    Purchased by the 28-year-old for $1.8 million a little over three years ago, back in fall 2020, the house was built in the late 1970s and has since been remodeled. On the market for a while, the place first went up for sale at $2.8 million this past September and has subsequently undergone several price reductions.

    Resting on an acre-plus parcel of land within The Country Estates—an affluent guard-gated community where one of Ahgren’s nearest neighbors is Snoop Dogg—the stucco and terracotta-roof structure features six en-suite bedrooms and seven bathrooms in 5,000 square feet of multi-level living space. There’s also a walk-out finished attic with an office space.

    Highlights include a light-filled sunroom, along with a fireside family room that connects to a spacious kitchen outfitted with an eat-in island, high-end Wolf appliances, a “room-size” pantry and an accompanying breakfast nook. Two master bedrooms include one with a fireplace and the other sporting a balcony overlooking the canyon; and rounding it all out are the oak-laced grounds, which host a sprawling deck off the rear of the house and an attached three-car garage out front.

    Born and raised in New Hampshire, Ahgren began publicly streaming his online gameplay circa-2018. In 2021, a widespread data breach revealed that he earned $3.3 million in two years solely through Twitch streaming, a sum that didn’t include his endorsement deals. Since then, Ahgren signed an agreement for an undisclosed amount to move his streaming efforts from Twitch to YouTube, where he has amassed more than 5.7 million subscribers.

    Action Star Frank Grillo Is Selling His Lavish Hollywood Hills Mansion for $9 Million

    Frank Grillo may be a born-and-bred New Yorker, but the experienced martial artist, clothing entrepreneur and prolific actor (The Purge film series, the 2022 biopic Lamborghini: The Man Behind the Legend, Brock Rumlow in Avengers: Endgame and Captain America) has been leading a ritzy Los Angeles lifestyle in recent years. In October 2022, Grillo bought a very chic mansion in the hills above Hollywood; that elegant spread has just popped back up for sale, asking a hair under $9 million.

    Secluded within the deepest reaches of a verdant and secluded canyon, the ultra-contemporary residence features a strikingly monochromatic color scheme and minimalist finishes. Built new in 2019, the house was first offered with an optimistic asking price of nearly $13 million, but lingered on the market for more than three years. After multiple realtor changes and price chops, Grillo finally snagged the cool digs at a bargain-basement $6.6 million price, a nearly 50% discount off the original sticker.

    Set near the deepest part of a semi-remote canyon in the Hollywood Hills, the tri-level house is built into the side of steep hill.

    There’s a very long driveway that gently ascends to a motorcourt fronting a three-car garage. Invisible from the street behind layers of mature trees and tall hedges, the home’s entryway offers a vaulted ceiling and abundant white oak, design features that carry on throughout the rest of the house. The light-flooded indoor/outdoor living room, complete with disappearing walls of glass and clerestory windows, is quintessentially California and is serviced by a Euro-chic kitchen with quartz countertops and premium appliances.
