    Marlo Thomas and Phil Donahue’s Former Connecticut Hideaway Lists for a Record $27.5 Million

    A waterfront mansion in Connecticut once owned by Marlo Thomas and Phil Donahue has returned to market seeking a whopping $27.5 million. 

    Back in 2007, the entertainment industry veterans built their dream home on the shore of Long Island Sound, designed by local Westport architect Roger Ferris + Partners. The television icons, who married back in 1980, later offloaded their sprawling Beachside Avenue property in 2013 to its current owner Andrew Bentley. At the time, the local property magnate shelled out a cool $20 million for the shingle-style colonial, Mansion Global reported. Bentley also snagged several parcels nearby, including two that formerly belonged to disgraced Hollywood producer Harvey Weinstein.

    The Gold Coast home, currently Westport’s most expensive listing, was briefly on the market in 2020 for $28 million. Now that the spread is back up for sale—albeit with a slight discount—it stands to set a record for the area if it fetches anywhere near its whopping $27.5 million asking price.

    Measuring 11,450 square feet in size, the rambling residence occupies a generous 6.6-acre plot with 400 feet of private waterfrontage, along with a cobblestone courtyard and manicured gardens. Altogether, the home features five bedrooms and five full bathrooms, plus a powder room, and throughout are striking coastal views in every direction thanks to walls of windows and French doors that open to broad terraces bordered by plush lawns.

    Other notable highlights include a south-facing patio that can be reached via the main living room, sunroom, and kitchen. Plus, the primary suite has been decked out with rustic barn wood ceilings, a recently redesigned sitting area, and a sleek spa-like bath and dressing room. The property also features a guest wing with its own separate entrance, a full-size tennis pavilion, a home gym, and four garages.

    “There are no other properties with the expanse of land, amount of waterfront and level of luxury home available for purchase,” Compass agent Leslie Clarke, who’s representing the listing, told Mansion Global. “Beachside Avenue is a coveted address and it’s rare for properties to come on the market.”

    Funnily enough, the standing record in Westport for the town most expensive home was set in 2006 when Donahue and Thomas offloaded another waterfront home on Beachside Avenue that they owned to financier Herbert M. Since sold again, the current owners of the property, Peggy and Gary Reiner, have built a huge new house closer to the water’s edge and, as of last year, planned to demolish the original Tudor-style home.

    Tom Brady’s Former Center Hikes His South Florida Home on the Market for $3.2 Million

    Much like Tom Brady, the legendary quarterback he loyally snapped the ball to as center of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Ryan Jensen—aka, the “Red Tornado”—also is staying busy off the field after leaving the NFL. Following in the footsteps of his former teammate, who’s dabbled in several business ventures since officially hanging up his cleats in early 2023, the recently retired NFL player has embarked upon a new career as a residential developer and is currently in the final stages of building a 20,000–square-foot home in his native state of Colorado. That means Jensen no longer has a need for his South Florida digs, so he’s hoisted his residence in Tampa’s affluent Davis Islands community up for sale.

    Jensen, who serves as a managing partner and co-owner of the Tampa-based design/build company Gilk, acquired the then-newly built residence for just over $1.5 million back in 2018, shortly after he signed a four-year, $42 million contract with the Bucs. Now, six years later, the place has returned to the market with a $3.2 million ask. The listing is held by Eric Dungy and Jon Fincher of Compass.

    Retired from the NFL as of early February after 11 years due to missing most of the last two seasons with a knee injury, 33-year-old Jensen was originally selected in the sixth round of the 2013 draft by the Baltimore Ravens. He went on to play for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, where the Pro Bowler helped Brady and the team capture its second Super Bowl title in 2021.

    “The NFL chapter of my life is coming to a close,” Jensen said via his Instagram account. “As this chapter closes and I reflect on every aspect of my career, it makes me proud. In the hard times and good, there is always something special to learn. Retiring from the game you have loved from a very young age is always hard. I am excited for this next chapter and the new opportunities and challenges it will bring.”

    The Founder of the Fear of God Label Has His Designer-Done L.A. Home Listed for $14.9 Million

    Having stitched up a $20 million deal for a snazzy compound in Beverly Hills earlier this year, fashion designer Jerry Lorenzo, founder of the high-brow streetwear label Fear of God, has hoisted his perfectly tailored home in L.A.’s Los Feliz neighborhood on the market for $14.9 million.

    Originally built in the 1930s for the Ralph family, the founders of the Ralph’s grocery store chain, now owned by Kroger, the Spanish-style home sits on Nottingham Avenue, one of the neighborhood’s more coveted streets. It was later owned by soap star Ronn Moss (The Bold and the Beautiful), who sold up in 2015 to political operative Paul Manafort and his son-in-law Jeffrey Yohai. Long story short, Manafort got into a tussle with the government and the house was seized and sold to a couple of Hollywood managers who spent a year renovating before they flipped it in 2018 for $8.495 million to Lorenzo and his wife Desiree Manuel.

    The street-style style icon has subsequently given the place a total makeover spearheaded by Kathleen and Tommy Clements, who remade the interiors into what marketing materials describe as “a world of refined beauty, where warm-toned interiors and carefully curated finishes create an atmosphere of understated luxury.” The listing is held by Tyrone McKillen of Plus Real Estate Group.

    Back in 2015, James Van Praagh was seeking a home where he could blend his “meditative, mindful awareness and utilize his clairvoyant abilities to enhance the property and activate a restorative energy that would elicit a natural sense of well-being and love.” He ultimately doled out $2 million and change for a secluded two-acre spread in the San Diego County beach town of Encinitas and then went on to create several “healing gardens” designed to celebrate the senses and to evoke a feeling of peace and serenity.     Michael Eisner’s Son Is Asking $14 Million for a Water-View Estate in Los Angeles

    It’s not his father’s extravagant Malibu spread directly overlooking the Pacific, but it still offers up some particularly stunning water vistas! And after a little more than two decades of ownership, filmmaker Breck Eisner—the eldest son of ex-Disney chairman and CEO Michael Eisner—is now ready to part ways with his longtime Los Angeles home perched high above the picturesque Stone Canyon Reservoir, asking $14 million.

    That’s several millions more than Eisner and his wife Georgia Irwin paid for the Bel Air digs back in 1993. But the couple—he a producer and director probably best known for the 2005 movie Sahara starring Matthew McConaughey and Penèlope Cruz, and she a fellow producer and director—did give the main residence an extensive remodel during their tenure in collaboration with noted L.A. designer Michael Palladino, gleaning inspiration from their honeymoon adventures in Bali and Thailand.

    “They envisioned an organic, open sanctuary that had a direct connection to nature,” says Melissa Alt, who shares the Scenario Lane listing with David Mossler, both of Douglas Elliman.

    The main home is described as a “contemporary California take on traditional New England saltbox forms.”

    Orlando Bloom Painted This L.A. Mansion Black. Now It Can Be Yours for $5 Million.

    A decade after actor Orlando Bloom sold his home in the Hollywood Hills neighborhood of Los Angeles for nearly $4 million, the Lord of the Rings and Pirates of the Caribbean star’s notorious black-painted abode has once again surfaced for sale. The NFL star is asking a speck under $1.8 million for the townhouse-style residence, which comes complete with ocean views and access to a secluded beach. The listing is held by the player’s mother, Cheryl Bosa of Engel & Völkers.

    Acquired by the All-Pro defensive end for $1.24 million—shortly after he was chosen second overall in the 2019 draft by the San Francisco 49ers and subsequently inked a four-year, $33.6 million contract—the two-level unit lies on the fourth and fifth floors of the five-story 30 Thirty North Ocean luxury boutique residential building, which was completed in summer 2020 by Cavache Properties and designed by Adache Group Architects. Featured are three bedrooms and four baths in a little more than 2,000 square feet of modern living space displaying a mix of marble and wood floors, high ceilings, and walls of glass.
