Legal sector drives central London office occupancy

Office space

The total demand from the legal sector by the end of February was 1.7 million sq ft, a record high for legal firms.

Linklaters made the largest transaction that month when it signed on to 318,800 sq ft at 20 Ropemaker Street, in Finsbury, North London.

In the same month, just over 3.4 million sq ft office space was under offer. This is 8% higher than the 3.2million sq ft average, over the last 10 years.

“No doubt there will be a pause in activity in the wake of Covid-19, however, we are aware that some of these requirements are continuing to progress, which should translate into some much-needed positive news later in the year,” said Frankie Warner-Lacy, senior director, central London tenant advisory group.
