Steve McQueen’s Former Beachside Hideaway in Malibu Hits the Market for $17 Million

Edgy and effortlessly cool not only describes the late actor Steven McQueen, but also his former Malibu abode. And if you ever wanted to channel the movie star’s iconic style IRL, his one-time waterside pad has hit the market.

The Southern California residence that McQueen shared with wife and leading lady, Ali MacGraw, is officially up for grabs. According to public records, McQueen’s son, Chad, sold the oceanfront home in July 2020. It then changed hands once again in September of the same year when current owner and songwriter Ammar Malik scooped up the Victoria Point property for $8.35 million, reported The Wall Street Journal.

Malik, alongside his partner, Chyna Bardarson, spent seven figures to remodel The King of Cool’s former hideaway, which is perched on a bluff for ultimate privacy. Today, the overfall feel post-reno is ultra-modern with huge sliding doors, black-framed windows and rich wood paneling. If you’re curious about what the home looked like before, you can check it out here.

Steve McQueen’s former beach house in Malibu just listed for $16.9 million

    The Luxury Level

Because of its location, expect to encounter some beachy touches, like a storage room with plenty of space to hold your surfboards, in addition to a private staircase that leads directly down to the sandy shore. Two outdoor showers should come in handy if you plan on rinsing off after paddling out. Or, if you’d prefer to scope out the swell first, there are multiple decks that offer up sprawling views from Broad Beach to Point Dume.

The four-bedroom home has been modernized and features sliding glass doors and multiple balconies

    The Luxury Level

In all, it comprises four bedrooms, five bathrooms and 4,335 square feet of living space. On the main level is a bright and airy chef’s kitchen with stainless steel appliances and a wine-rack wall. Elsewhere, an open dining and living room looks directly out to the Pacific. The second level is where you’ll find the primary suite. The space has been decked out with an accent wood-paneled wall, a fireplace, an ocean-facing balcony and a spa-like bathroom. Now, it can all be yours for $16.9 million.

California Love? Dr. Dre Is Selling His Beachfront Malibu Mansion for $20 Million

A beach house by Dre could now be yours.

After two decades, music mogul André Romelle Young (aka Dr. Dre) has decided to sell his luxurious Malibu estate. Located in the celebrity-studded enclave of Carbon Beach, the three-story residence was originally built in the early ‘90s, as reported by Dirt. The hip-hop legend snapped it up shortly after in 2000 for a modest $4.8 million. Today, Dre’s digs will set you back $20 million.

Fit for rap royalty, the contemporary Pacific Coast Highway abode is set behind a gated courtyard and comprises nearly 9,000 square feet of living space. You can expect dramatic soaring ceilings and walls of glass throughout. No matter what level you’re on, you’re guaranteed direct ocean views, too. On top of that, there are a number of beachside balconies that allow you to make the most of the legendary southern California weather.

Altogether, you’ll find six bedrooms and seven bathrooms, plus a gym, a sauna and an office. Of course, there’s also an in-house recording studio that has been graced by a certain rapper-turned-producer from Compton. Dre has won no less than six Grammys throughout his illustrious 40-year career, so the recording gear is sure to be top-notch.

Design-wise, the home has a flowing, open-plan layout and is flooded with natural light. The coastal color palette of soft, sandy neutrals is at once cozy and chic. So too are the furnishings. In the great room, a giant stone fireplace stretches all the way up to the ceiling and is one of the most striking features. Nearby, the kitchen has been decked out with top-of-the-line stainless steel appliances. The spacious primary suite, which takes up the entire third level, comes with its own fireplace, sitting area, walk-in closet and a terrace overlooking the ocean.

    Get your money right, gents.

Pacaso Teams Up With Surf Air for a Luxe New Rideshare Service

First, Pacaso made purchasing a second home easier through its tech-enabled real estate co-ownership model. Now it hopes to make owners travel to these second homes more efficient through its new partnership with regional semi-private regional aviation company Surf Air and Alto, which offers elevated on-demand ridesharing.

Pacaso, founded by dotloop founder Austin Allison and former Zillow CEO Spencer Rascoff, purchases luxury homes and sells ⅛ to ½ ownership through a wholly managed LLC co-ownership model. This means that you—alongside others—can enjoy the benefits of a multi-million-dollar home without paying the full price, and Pacaso has professional property management, a smart scheduling system and even handles the finance and billing to make your co-ownership experience fairly seamless. They operate homes in several markets including Florida, California, Colorado, Hawaii, Idaho, Oregon, Arizona, South Carolina, Utah and Wyoming, as well as several cities in Spain.

Pacaso has homes in more than 35 markets.

The company’s recent partnership with Surf Air proves just how serious they are about providing a totally seamless, efficient and turnkey experience for customers from tarmac to front door. All homeowners will receive a six-month Alto membership, which helps them lock in priority members-only times—just in time for the holidays—and save up to 30 percent on every ride and receive perks and rewards. With Surf Air, members will receive special perks when they book a seat on one of the semi-private charter flights. Surf Air has scheduled flight networks  throughout California, one of Pacaso’s biggest markets, but also throughout the US. You can either book a seat for a semi-private experience on the scheduled flights or charter a fully private flight wherever you wish in the U.S. with guaranteed availability, no blackout dates and no initiation fee.

Properties like this Lake Tahoe cabin are exceptionally cozy during the holiday season.

“When our owners are heading to their Pacaso second home, we want them to have a turnkey and headache-free experience from door to door,” CEO Austin Allison tells Robb Report. “Alto and Surf Air offer elevated, easy, and dependable transportations options that allow our owners to maximize their time enjoying their second home and the local communities.”

Especially around the holidays when airports get quite crazy, Surf Air—as with any private aviation experience—can significantly shorten the duration of your travel time, allowing you to spend more time with loved ones. Surf Air has also committed to a greener private aviation experience by investing in electric smaller aircraft for short-haul flights.

Alto offers elevated ridesharing services via an app, and Pacaso owners receive special membership perks.

“At Pacaso, we handle everything from maintenance to luxury interior design so that owners get to own and enjoy amazing real estate for a much lower cost and with none of the hassles,” Allison says. “Surf Air has a similar approach to air travel, offering a more sustainable option than competitors and an easy arrive-and-fly process that saves members time. Their convenient regional service also gives more transportation options to owners who are flying to many of the popular Pacaso destinations like Lake Tahoe, Santa Barbara and the Los Angeles and San Francisco areas.”

A second home is especially valuable during the holiday season and through Pacaso’s management system, co-owners pre-set the dates they’ll be traveling when they first purchase their portion of the home so owners never have to worry about double-booking on peak weekends, like Thanksgiving or festive season.  More

Russell Westbrook Just Bought the $37 Million Brentwood Mansion Across From LeBron James

Russell Westbrook and LeBron James have had their fair share of struggles on the court. Now, let’s see how the two Lakers do as neighbors.

Roughly a month after Westbrook put his Los Angeles mansion on the market, he dropped $37 million on another bonkers Brentwood residence. The 13,500-square-foot home was formerly owned by Formula One heiress Petra Ecclestone and just so happens to be right across the street from James. Ecclestone and her husband, Sam Palmer, bought the estate back in 2019 for $22.7 million and made a slew of renovations over the years, reported Dirt. Palmer, an agent at Hilton & Hyland, represented the transaction.

“I am delighted to announce the off-market sale of our family home, Vita Nova, in Los Angeles,” Palmer said in an Instagram post. “In 2019, @petraecclestoneofficial and I purchased a modern farmhouse and spent several months redesigning, upgrading materials and finishes, and adjusting the floor plan to provide a better flow for our family living. We had a vision and strong belief that if we enhanced the design quality, we would create a beautiful home rarely seen in LA.”

The manse was originally built in 2018 by Cutting Edge Development and is sited on a half-acre hillside lot overlooking the Pacific. The three-level home comprises eight bedrooms, 13 bathrooms, a two-car garage, plus an elevator. (The latter should come in handy while Westbrook rests his hamstring.) Outside, you’ll find a pool, spa, sundeck and a patio.

One of the many improvements Ecclestone and Palmer made was turning what used to be a detached 10-car garage into “staff quarters,” they told The New York Times. Today, the space holds multiple glass-walled offices, a break room and laundry units with dry-cleaning capabilities. Palmer also noted on social media that the off-market deal was completed swiftly and in record time, considering the current state of the housing market.

As for Westbrook, it looks like he won’t be leaving the LA area anytime soon. Sorry, Lakers fans. More

NBA Star Stephen Curry’s Former Bay Area Mansion Just Listed for $8.9 Million

When the Golden State Warriors made the move from Oakland to San Francisco in 2019, point guard Stephen Curry had to give up his East Bay digs due to the commute. Now, the behemoth manse that the NBA star and his wife Ayesha custom-built is back on the market once again.

Located in the suburbs of Alamo, the epic estate was completed in 2018 and sold for $6.4 million just one year later in an off-market deal, current owner Sam Hirbod told The Wall Street Journal. Fast forward three years, Curry’s former pad is now asking $8.9 million.

Sited on nearly one and a half acres, the home offers six bedrooms, eight and a half baths and a range of flashy amenities that were customized to the Curry’s tastes. Think a vegetable garden for Ayesha, a billiards room and home theater for Steph and even a personalized playhouse for their kids.

    The stylish lounge.

    Thomas Kuoh

The couple enlisted Stephen Kubitschek to spearhead the abode’s design. The 8,163-square-foot interior feels ultra modern thanks to the 30-foot ceilings, large expanses of glass, heated Italian wood floors and double-sided fireplaces. Like many contemporary homes, the layout is centered around indoor-outdoor living. Custom Fleetwood sliding doors connect the living area with the backyard, which plays host to a saltwater infinity pool, a cabana, a pizza oven, a smoker and a grill.

    The upscale kitchen.

    Thomas Kuoh

You can expect a fair share of glitzy features fit for basketball royalty, too. According to Hirbod, Steph dropped $500,000 on the media center, which is outfitted with a top-notch projector and sound system. Since Ayesha’s is quite the gourmet, the kitchen has been decked out with dual islands, Miele and Sub-Zero appliances and sleek, European-style cabinets. Of course, there’s also a seven-car garage for your collection.

Upstairs, there are separate guest and children wings that make the primary suite feel all the more private. The Curry’s one-time suite is as luxurious as you’d imagine with a 1,160-square-foot terrace and not one but three walk-in closets. If you ever dreamed of living like a professional athlete, now’s your chance.
