      Roc Nation’s CEO Drops $15 Million for a ‘CSI’ Creator’s Malibu Home

      After roughly six months on the market amid declining asking prices that began at $18.5 million and ultimately and gradually fell to just under $17 million, CSI creator Anthony Zuiker has managed to sell his oceanfront home in Malibu, records indicate. The Broad Beach-adjacent estate went for about $15.3 million to Jay Brown, the brash Roc Nation co-founder and CEO who oversees the careers of some of music’s most notable talents, among them Jay-Z, Rihanna and Alicia Keys.

      Zuiker, 55, acquired the property about five years ago from NBA superstar Kevin Durant, paying about $12.2 million. But with extravagant homes in many other in many other cities—Las Vegas, Lake Arrowhead and Montecito, just to name a few—the Las Vegas native and his wife Michelle ultimately did not end up using their oceanfront vacation pad as much as they originally anticipated.

      Cleaved to a steep slope along a postcard-ready cove at the end of a private, gated cul-de-sac, the slightly more than 5,100-square-foot contemporary has four bedrooms, six bathrooms and four fireplaces over spread three floors serviced by an elevator. Spare, modern and relaxed with premium-quality finishes, light-filled interior spaces feature wide plank French oak floorboards, vast expanses of art-friendly white walls and vaulted ceilings. Floor-to-ceiling glass panels slide open to unite the house with three levels of decks with ocean, coastline and sunset views.

      Under a massive skylight, the main living room has a minimalist, raised hearth fireplace set into a hand-burnished plaster wall while the adjoining dining room is completely open to an all-white kitchen expensively fitted with designer-grade appliances and Calacatta marble counter tops that waterfall over one end of a center island. The residence’s wide variety of other living and entertaining spaces include a cozy den, a home theater, a library, a lofted massage and exercise studio and a media lounge complete with a full kitchen, showy, glass-fronted wine cellar and direct access to an outdoor dining terrace with a private staircase to the beach.

      In addition to their new Malibu getaway, Brown and his longtime wife Kawanna continue to maintain a spacious, Mediterranean-styled home in the upper reaches of L.A.’s Bel Air neighborhood.       Model Miranda Kerr Is Selling Her Longtime Malibu Compound

      Ten years ago, fresh off her divorce from actor Orlando Bloom, a newly single Miranda Kerr paid $2.2 million for a 0.73-acre property in the far western reaches of Malibu, sequestered at the end of a little-known cul-de-sac above Pacific Coast Highway. Since then, much has changed. The former Victoria’s Secret model is now married to billionaire Snapchat CEO Evan Spiegel, with whom she shares an international portfolio of lavish estates and several children.

      So while the Kerr-Spiegels have continued to use the Malibu home as a local getaway, it’s probably no surprise that the couple has now opted to unload the relatively petite spread, a hillside compound comprised of four separate buildings. The nearly $4.5 million asking price reflects the numerous custom upgrades Kerr has made to the place during her decade of ownership, plus the continued surge in Malibu property values. It’s worth noting that the property also has a rich Hollywood history—for decades, until his 2009 death in this house, the place was owned by acclaimed actor James Whitmore, perhaps best known to the current generations for his prime role in the 1994 film The Shawshank Redemption.

      In the single-story, nearly 2,200-square-foot main house, open plan and all-white living areas includes aliving room with wide-plank wood floors, a raised hearth stone and fireplace surrounded by built-in bookshelves, a vaulted and beamed ceiling, and a pentagonal wall of windows with a serene, through-the-trees ocean view. The adjoining and also ocean view dining area has glass sliders on two walls and is divided from the upgraded kitchen by a stool-height snack counter.

      Two family bedrooms share an unusually spacious hall bathroom with wood floors, dramatically vaulted and sky-lit ceiling and a huge tiled vanity. The master bedroom offers several Palladian-style windows with whitewater views, access to an ocean view deck and a renovated bathroom with an oversized and skylit shower space.

      There’s a brick terrace around the swimming pool and attached spa as well as a vast, partly covered and trellis-shaded deck that wraps around the dining room end of the house and makes a broad run the full length of the house. Tall trees and towering bamboo shoots that shade the deck both obscure and frame glimmering vistas over the ocean.

      Also on the lush property are a pond suitable for koi, large wooden decks and off-street parking for a dozen or more cars.

      The three other structures on the property are comprised of a 684-square-foot pool house equipped with a gym and changing facilities, plus two hillside guesthouses—both of them weighing in at under 500 square feet but one slightly larger than the other. All told, the property offers six bedrooms, five full bathrooms and a single powder room. Brian Goldberg of Luxury Malibu Property holds the listing.

      For the moment, Kerr and Spiegel mainly reside in L.A.’s Brentwood neighborhood, in a $12 million mansion once owned by Harrison Ford. The couple also maintains a $30 million villa in Paris, France, a vineyard estate in Kerr’s native Australia and a $120 million mega-estate in Holmby Hills that’s finally nearing completion after years of construction. Spiegel, who was raised in L.A.’s posh Pacific Palisades neighborhood, also continues to own the very first house he ever bought — a charming $3 million “cottage” on a narrow street in Brentwood.

      A Daughter of Uzbekistan’s Longtime President Just Sold Her $36 Million Beverly Hills Mansion

      After more than a decade of ownership, former Uzbek diplomat Lola Karimova Tillyaeva has sold her Beverly Hills house for about $36 million, making it the 90210’s biggest transaction of the year—so far. The Wall Street Journal first reported the big deal, which was inked off-market earlier this week. The buyer’s name has not yet been revealed, and records do not yet reveal exactly how much they paid.

      Tillyaeva, 45, is the glamorous and jet-setting daughter of the late politician Islam Karimov, the autocratic president who ruled Uzbekistan for some 30 years, until his 2016 death. She bought the 90210 mega-mansion—it reportedly boasts some 48,000 square feet of living space, making it one of the largest homes in the city—in 2013 from controversial real estate developer Mohamed Hadid, paying just under $33 million.

      Known as Le Palais, the enormous house is uncommonly lavish by even Beverly Hills standards, with indoor and outdoor swimming pools and 48,000 square feet of living space.

      Since the house was never officially listed for sale this time around, we don’t know what decor changes Tillyaeva made to the place in her nearly 11 years of ownership. But the 1.09-acre property, known as Le Palais, appears to have been immaculately maintained—at least judging by its exterior and the grounds, which boast some of the tallest hedges and most intricately beautiful landscaping in all of Beverly Hills.

      The property is also something of a local landmark, as it sits directly across the street from the Beverly Hills Hotel at the uber-busy, six-way intersection of Sunset Boulevard, North Crescent Drive and North Beverly Drive. A shiny chrome donut art piece—installed by Tillyaeva a few years ago—greets the thousands of cars that race past the house on any given day.

      Tax records indicate the giant mansion contains a total of 7 bedrooms and 11 bathrooms, plus three additional bathrooms that serve the outdoor areas. There’s also two more bedrooms and one additional bathroom sequestered in a staff apartment atop the outdoor garage.

      Off the gated motorcourt, Lalique-style glass front doors swing open into a soaring entrance hall that stretches 90 feet long and some 30 feet high. Elaborate wood paneling surrounds the door frames, while formal entertaining spaces include a very large but well-scaled formal living room with 14-foot ceilings and a fireplace hewn from Italian marble. There’s another marble fireplace in the formal dining room that can comfortably seat 20-plus guests at a burled olive wood table.

      Also on tap are a library with paneled walls and built-in bookcases, plus a ballroom-sized bar/lounge also equipped with 14-foot ceilings, a third marble fireplace and direct access to multiple outdoor terraces. The colossal kitchen/family room combination, which spans some 5,000 square feet on its own, has a coffered ceiling and is complete with a sumptuous lounge area.

      The sprawling lower level, accessed by stair or elevator, is a 15,000-square-foot treasure trove of resort-style recreational amenities. A grand ballroom that seats up to 200 is serviced by a commercial-grade catering kitchen and flanks a movie theater for 40 guests and a state-of-the-art-gym. Also downstairs is a Turkish-style hammam with elaborately tiled 30-foot long indoor swimming pool, steam and sauna facilities, and a private massage room. Rounding out the lower level are a laundry room, several storage room, and a secured underground garage for 10-12 cars.

      On the second floor, the main master suite includes a private sitting room/study with a curving wall of glass, an adjoining bedroom with a fireplace, two behemoth bathrooms—plus a powder room, and dual dressing rooms. One bathroom has a fireplace and the other has a hidden staircase that ascends to a 3,800-square-foot rooftop terrace with impressive sunset-facing views. It’s worth noting that Hadid, who began building the house in the late 2000s, reportedly ran afoul of the Beverly Hills city government by making the house some 10 feet taller than legally allowed.

      The home’s landscaping is some of the most intricate in Beverly Hills, with giant hedges, hundreds of poinsettias and dozens of mature magnolia trees.

      The grounds aren’t particularly expansive—this is a massive home on a 1-acre property in the heart of Beverly Hills, after all—but there are expansive stone terraces, an al fresco dining area warmed by a fireplace, a full outdoor kitchen with a barbecue, and a row of curtained cabana lounges just like you might find at a Ritz-Carlton. Also on tap are the aforementioned rose gardens, multiple fountains and mature magnolia trees lining the long sides of a 60-foot swimming pool and a 20-person spa.

      No word yet regarding whether Tillyaeva plans to buy another L.A. residence. But the perfume entrepreneur and her businessman husband Timur Tillyaev also maintain homes in Paris and in Switzerland, where they own a $41 million estate sited on one of the most expensive streets in Geneva. More

      ‘Vanderpump Rules’ Star Scheana Shay Just Snapped Up an All-New L.A. Home

      Despite the wide-eyed dreams of Hollywood fame that initially drew them to Tinseltown, it’s no secret that the drama-fueled stars of Vanderpump Rules—likely one of reality television’s guiltiest of guilty pleasures—love the prototypically suburban San Fernando Valley area of Los Angeles. Over the years, numerous cast members have bought widely publicized valley houses, all of them virtually identical in look and size.

      The latest cast member to join the valley fray is OG star Scheana Shay, who records reveal has pumped out $2.5 million for a nearly 4,000-square-foot home in the increasingly upscale Sherman Oaks neighborhood.

      Trimmed with a mix of wood and stone, the spacious but relatively unassuming house was built in 2016 and last sold that same year for $1.7 million. Dapperly dressed, the place is styled in the ubiquitous “modern farmhouse” architectural bent that mixes familiar and comfortable architectural design motifs with modern amenities. Like so many other structures built in this style over the last decade all across Los Angeles and beyond, the home’s airy, open living spaces are ideal for large-scale entertaining and a relaxed indoor-outdoor lifestyle.

      The front door opens into a combination foyer, living room and dining room with wide-plank oak hardwood floors, a fireplace and traditional moldings. A central staircase ferries folks upstairs, where four of the home’s five bedrooms are located. Sure to star on a future season of Vanderpump Rules, an photogenic gourmet kitchen is arranged around a large island with a spacious butler’s pantry and commercial-grade stainless appliances. In the adjoining family room area, French doors open to patio with ample room for al fresco dining.

      Each of the four guest bedrooms sports an ensuite full bathroom, as does the master retreat, which additionally offers a fireplace, balcony and a sumptuous walk-in closet. While it’s not particularly big, the backyard is nicely hedged for privacy and manages to squeeze in a pool/spa combo and a couple patches of grassy lawn.

      ‘The Good Place’ Star Jameela Jamil Seeks $7.2 Million for Her Hollywood Hills Mansion

      Scarcely one year ago, Hollywood actress Jameela Jamil and her longtime partner James Blake dropped an impressive $6.4 million to buy a hulking mansion sited atop L.A.’s famed Mulholland Drive, directly overlooking the entirety of Hollywood.

      The English couple—she famous for her roles in films and TV show projects such as “The Good Place,” “She-Hulk: Attorney at Law,” and most recently, “Pitch Perfect: Bumper in Berlin,” he a Grammy-winning musician—are already moving on from their still-relatively-new Hollywood Hills home, having flipped the place back up for sale with a $7.2 million ask.       Clinging precariously to the side of a nearly sheer cliff, the house appears to be a relatively humble, single-story structure from the street, but it drops down mullet-style to four full levels out back, encompassing a nearly 7,000 square feet of mansion-sized living space. There are a total five bedrooms and 6.5 bathrooms on tap, per tax records.

      Built in the late ’80s and styled as a Mediterranean-style villa, the hillside home was recently given a contemporary renovation.

      Originally built in 1989, the home’s dated architecture was given a thorough contemporary makeover by Dalinger Designs just prior to Jamil and Blake’s purchase. Today, the hillside structure is described in the listing as “Villa de Vistas, an extraordinary Contemporary Mediterranean compound … with an earthy flair.” And indeed, the home’s views are unquestionably extraordinary, with walls of glass spanning the entire back of the residence and framing unstoppable vistas of nearby canyons and distant city lights.

      A convenient elevator ferries residents and guests throughout all four of the home’s level. The front door opens into a vast main living area with a wood-paneled kitchen—naturally complete with commercial-grade stainless appliances—and an adjoining fireplace-equipped living room and indoor/outdoor living space. Just below that, a 2,000-square-foot master retreat is loaded with amenities, boasting a fireplace, lounge area, spa-style bathroom and a walk-in closet bigger than many studio apartments.

      Below the master are various guest bedrooms, all of them equipped with ensuite full bathrooms. The home’s lowest level is recreation-themed, sporting a movie theater, gym and a wellness center with a sauna. Out back, a pool and spa overlook the aforementioned views. Other amenities include state-of-the-art home automation and surveillance systems, plus a three-car garage and a lounge space that could be converted into a recording studio, per the listing.

      Music Titan Irving Azoff Just Dropped $11 Million on the Beverly Hills Estate Next Door

      Music mega-mogul Irving Azoff and his longtime wife Shelli are apparently feeling very crowded in their neck of the Beverly Hills woods. Two years ago, the pair plunked down an impressive $21.5 million on the house immediately next door to their longtime 90210 estate, which they’ve owned since 1985. The couple are in the process of demolishing that recently acquired house and combining the property with their main residence.

      But a 3.2-acre slice of Beverly Hills just isn’t quite enough breathing room. Records show the Azoffs have now paid an additional $11.6 million to buy yet another house, this one a half-acre estate immediately adjacent to the other two properties they own.

      Back in 2013, the Azoffs moved out of their longtime Beverly Hills home and subsequently demolished the existing structure. They’re recently completed the construction of an all-new, ultra-contemporary residence, a decade-long project reportedly plagued by delays and cost overruns. (Back in 2015, the Azoffs headed to arbitration to resolve a financial dispute with Malibu-based architect Scott Mitchell, whom they had hired to oversee their new home’s creation. A court judgment subsequently awarded them more than $2.1 million.)

      As for the Azoffs’ new real estate acquisition, the half-acre estate includes a 7,200-square-foot mansion built circa 1926, per tax records. The red tile-roofed, Spanish Colonial-style structure was recently renovated and includes a mixture of hardwood floors and carpeting, numerous sets of French doors and an updated kitchen with a bulky center island and commercial-grade stainless appliances.

      Although it seems likely that the Azoffs may opt to demolish the house, the current structure also would make a sumptuous guesthouse or lavish staff quarters, with five bedrooms and seven bathrooms on tap. The lushly landscaped property also offers an outdoor fireplace, large swaths of grassy lawn, a rectangular swimming pool and even a full-size tennis court.

      The giant Azoff estate now spans nearly four acres and includes three large houses, at least one of which is slated for demolition.

      With the addition of this new property to the Azoffs’ already grand estate, their as-yet-unfinished new compound has swollen to nearly 4-acres of land in one of the best pockets of Beverly Hills. Directly across the street is Ari Emanuel’s $28 million estate, and only one block away is the $165 million main residence of Jeff Bezos and Lauren Sanchez.

      A Private Equity Billionaire Paid a Record-Breaking $44 Million for This San Diego Home

      Back in October, an oceanfront Del Mar house sold for a whopping $44.1 million, sending shockwaves through the quietly posh Southern California beach town and setting a new record for the most expensive San Diego County home ever sold. The out-of-left-field, off-market transaction came even as the San Diego real estate market has effectively stalled over the past year, with the deal pipeline choked by high interest rates, recession fears and low inventory. And the transfer also eclipsed Bill Gates’ recent $43 million purchase of an arguably more impressive house on the same strip of sand.

      Property records indicate the $44 million house was purchased by a mysterious Delaware-based LLC, a common business tool used by the wealthy to cover their real estate tracks. But it’s certainly worth noting that the mysterious entity is managed by a longtime associate of Egon Durban—the high-flying, billionaire Silicon Valley dealmaker who has a known affinity for both record-breaking transactions and high-end real estate. Durban, the co-CEO of private equity giant Silver Lake, sports a personal net worth that tops $1.5 billion, according to Forbes.

      Since the house was never on the market, photos are virtually nonexistent and details are few. But certainly the vast majority of its value lies in its oceanfront location—the property spans just over an acre of flat land, right on the sand—rather than the structures themselves. The main residence is unremarkable, large and well-maintained but visually dated. The property was built decades ago by prominent Hollywood real estate developer C.E. Toberman, founder of Grauman’s Chinese Theatre and the Hollywood Bowl, and remained in the extended Toberman family until Durban’s purchase.

      In addition to the U-shaped main house, which is single-story and painted a deep navy blue, there are two ancillary buildings on the property. Each of those includes a two-car garage and additional living space, likely for guests or live-in staff. The oceanfront compound also boasts a full-size tennis court—a very rare thing on the shores of Del Mar—and a gated, blacktopped driveway with off-street parking for dozens of cars. There’s also an outdoor swimming pool, plus a sizable backyard with a grassy lawn and a wooden deck with stairs descending to the sandy beach. Altogether, the estate sports eight bedrooms and 7.5 bathrooms.

      The estate spans more than one flat acre and is one of only a handful of oceanfront Del Mar homes that includes a tennis court.

      Durban has yet to confirm his ownership of the Del Mar compound, but he’s certainly no stranger to ultra-high-end real estate. Back in 2019, records reveal he and longtime wife Abby dropped $24 million to buy a brand-new mansion in prime Atherton, the small Silicon Valley town famously home to scores of the nation’s wealthiest tech executives. The couple also own a vacation home in California’s scenic Pebble Beach neighborhood worth approximately $10 million.

      The Durbans have also long maintained a seriously impressive blufftop mansion at the exclusive Kukio Golf and Beach Club on Hawaii’s Big Island, where one of their nearest neighbors is fellow billionaire Michael Dell—a longtime Durban business associate and the brash dealmaker’s ownership partner in the professional bull riding team Austin Gamblers. And astute soccer fans will know that Durban was also behind the $500 million purchase of a minority share in Manchester City, a landmark transfer inked in 2019. More

      Seann William Scott Is Selling His Custom-Built L.A. Compound for $5 Million

      Bye, bye, Mr. American Pie. Seann William Scott, best known for playing Steven Stifler in the 1999 coming-of-age film starring Jason Biggs, is parting ways with his California home.  

      The actor’s Venice compound recently hit the market for just shy of $5 million and includes a historic, 1.300-square-foot bungalow and a glass-and-steel house behind it. Altogether, the two abodes offer five bedrooms, six bathrooms, and 4,600 square feet of living space. According to Bloomberg, who first reported on the listing, Scott bought the 5,148-square-foot lot back in 2017 after relocating from New York. At the time, he paid $2.2 million for the spread but admitted he planned on flipping the property for a profit.  

      “I don’t think people who know my work would imagine I’m an architectural design nerd,” Scott told the media site. “But I am.” The lengthy renovation took about six years to complete. The Dude, Where’s My Car? star had the idea to combine the two buildings and collabed with his wife and interior designer, Olivia Scott, on the project. The remodel included taking the bungalow downs to the studs while the other glassy structure was already “bare bones,” Scott told Bloomberg.

      The smaller of the two dwellings had some catching up to do in the aesthetics department. The overall vibe here is chic and minimalist with lots of natural, organic materials. The one-story bungalow has earthy tile floors throughout and the kitchen is clad in Caesarstone and warm wood. Elsewhere, you’ll find two bedrooms, two bathrooms, and a dining room that leads to a covered deck. “We kept the footprint of the place, but it was basically a new building,” Scott told Bloomberg. 

      On the other hand, the glass-and-concrete loft has three bedrooms and four bathrooms spread across three levels. Designed by architect Kevin Mulcahy, highlights of the home are its accordion glass doors on the ground floor, a double-height entertainment area, and a second kitchen that’s kitted out with floating marble shelves, wood paneling, and original steel beams.

      Scott, who will play a disgraced cop in the upcoming movie Bad Man, is proud of all the work that’s gone into revamping the property. However, he admittedly has his doubts about handing the home to its next owner. “This place is so cool, and I love Venice so much. Am I making a mistake selling it?”
