      War of the Rosés? Brad Pitt Is Suing Angelina Jolie for Selling Her Stake in Their French Vineyard

      Brad Pitt is suing ex-wife Angelina Jolie for selling her stake in a French vineyard that they owned together.

      The former Hollywood megawatt couple bought controlling interest in Chateau Miraval in 2008 for $25 million, according to a PA Media report published by Bloomberg. The estate, which includes a 35-room manor and the vineyard, is located in the village of Correns in southeastern France.  In 2014, the couple married on the grounds of the vineyard before divorcing two years later. Both had agreed to never sell their respective interests in the property without the other’s consent, according to the lawsuit filed in Los Angeles on Thursday. Pitt now claims that Jolie sold her stake in the property to a Luxembourg-based spirits manufacturer that’s controlled by Russian oligarch Yuri Shefler, without his approval.

      For her part, Jolie disputes that claim. The Oscar-winning actress says that she “informed Pitt in writing” of her decision in January 2021, according to the BBC. In the lawsuit, she claims that she had reached the “painful decision, with a heavy heart” and no longer wanted to own an alcohol business because of her personal objections. Legal documents obtained by PA Media show that Pitt contributed 60 percent to its purchase, and Jolie paid the remaining 40 percent.

      Pitt’s lawyers say the move to sell was intended to cause “gratuitous harm” to the Oscar-winning actor, who had “poured money and sweat equity into the wine business.” The suit claims that, under his stewardship, the vineyard has grown into a “multimillion-dollar international success story.” The complaint goes on to allege that “[Jolie] sold her interest with the knowledge and intention that Shefler and his affiliates would seek to control the business to which Pitt had devoted himself and to undermine Pitt’s investment in Miraval.”
      As for the buyer, Shefler is the 54-year-old owner of SPI Group, which produces and sells alcohol in 170 countries. The company’s best-known brand is Stolichnaya vodka, which he bought for $285,000 in 1997. According to Forbes, the Russian businessman has a current net worth of $2.5 billion. Those credentials clearly don’t matter much to Pitt, who calls the vineyard his “passion” in the lawsuit. Indeed, the actor has been productive at the estate. In 2020, after five years of research and testing, he launched Fleur de Miraval, the only Champagne house devoted to Rosé. Meanwhile, the label’s Côtes de Provence Rosé 2020 has been both a critical and market hit.

      While a settlement between the two parties could still be in the offing, as of now lawyers for Pitt have requested a trial by jury. Stay tuned. More

      Flea Just Listed a $9.8 Million LA Compound Featuring Two Architecturally Striking Homes

      Following the recent purchase of a $14 million Mullholland Drive spread, musician and budding real estate mogul Michael “Flea” Balzary—bassist and founding member of the Red Hot Chili Peppers—has officially put one of his other LA-area properties on the market. Listed for $9.8 million, the architectural, hilltop compound is tucked within the La Crescenta foothills in Los Angeles, offering incredible privacy in large part thanks to its funky, cinematic design.

      The six-acre property actually has two residences. The first is a 1950s home called the Dorothy Serulnic Residence, designed by prolific Austrian-American architect Richard Neutra, a prominent modernist. Neutra built the home in 1953 for his then-secretary Dorothy Serulnic and her husband, George. Now, it acts as a stuck-in-time, 1,350-square foot, two-bedroom guest home, albeit with modern updates. You’ll also find built-in features designed by Neutra, like a sofa system with a record player, shelving systems, desks, a sliding breakfast nook and more. Walls of glass frame exquisite views of the city and mountains, while the bear valley stone fireplace looks plucked out of the ‘50s.

      But the biggest draw for design lovers is definitely the seven-sided main residence with an interior courtyard. Los Angeles-based architect Michael Maltzan  was commissioned by the property’s former owners to build the second structure in 2009; Flea wanted to keep Maltzan’s vision, so he enlisted him to built an 875-square-foot addition in 2021.
      The home welcomes plenty of natural light through double-layered, UV-protected glass walls and windows, and Maltzan tied many features, like wooden furniture and flooring, to the original Neutra-designed residence. Maltzan designed the layout in a series of triangles and polygons, which takes each person on a journey within the unique space and around an interior courtyard garden. There are several notable features, like industrial-style concrete walls and a curvilinear penny-tiled bath in the primary suite, as well as massive geometric skylights and a flat roof. Other indoor hubs include an office and a den.

      A pool and open-air pavilion 

      Perfect for those who love spending time outdoors (and those who love to entertain), the house has an outdoor movie pavilion with a wind screen, a catering kitchen, a 50-foot lap pool and and a redwood-clad cabin built by artist Peter Staley. 

      Flea purchased the compound in 2018 for roughly $4.3 million, according to Dirt, and has since added a pool, the cabin and that Maltzan-designed addition. The out-of-this-world retreat is located 20 minutes north of Downtown LA. 
      The pedigree property is listed by Sherri Rogers, Elisa Ritt, Anthony Stellini, and Asher Ehsani of Compass.

      Richard Gere Lists His Idyllic 50-Acre Hudson Valley Estate for $28 Million

      Richard Gere has listed the sprawling upstate New York compound he’s owned for more than 20 years. 

      The actor first purchased the property in 1986 and, over the years, created multiple structures on the 48.7 acres. The main New England-style residence is the largest at 11,658 square feet, and houses eight bedrooms, nine bathrooms and two half-baths. Located in picturesque Pound Ridge, New York, just 50 miles (or about an hour) from New York City, the property has been listed for $28 million by Muffin Dowdle of Ginnel Real Estate.

      Even those not in the public eye will relish in the privacy of the property. It’s all but completely shielded from the outside world, as 4,300 acres of protected land border the grounds. With its expansive lawns and ample space, the bucolic estate is ideal for equestrians and those who enjoy spending time outdoors; it’s particularly idyllic as a summer escape, as it’s a quieter, if not more beautiful, alternative to the Hamptons.

      John Legend and Chrissy Teigen Are Selling Their Two NYC Penthouses for a Combined $18 Million

      John Legend and Chrissy Teigen are bidding adieu to not one but two properties in New York City. The couple purchased the penthouses in the same building with the intention of one day combining them into one duplex unit, but never got around to pulling the trigger. Now the singer-songwriter and model are listing the parcel for $18 million.

      Teigen and Legend didn’t buy both units at once: They snapped up one for $9 million in 2018 and the other for $7.7 million in 2020. The properties are both located in Brewster Carriage House, a historic building that was once home to, you guessed it, a horse carriage company. The 150-year-old structure was converted into condos in 2012.

      Once combined, the duplex penthouse will comprise about 6,100 interior square feet. Standout features include the kitchen, which is custom and fitted out with Miele appliances, as well as the white-oak floors throughout the home. There are three gas fireplaces in the penthouse, plus a wine refrigerator and heated flooring in the bathrooms.

      Fine and great, but one of the biggest selling points is almost certainly the outdoor space, something that buyers are thinking of more than ever in the wake of 2020’s shelter-in-place orders.       Why leave it all behind? Legend and Teigen are reportedly spending more time on the West Coast these days, and so a New York City project like this one no longer makes sense. The couple have certainly made moves in California as of late, selling their Beverly Hills home where Rihanna once lived for $16.8 million 2021 and snapping up a new mansion nearby for $17.5 million.
