Frank Sinatra’s Former California Compound Could Be Yours for $12.8 Million

A lot of LA homes come with a star pedigree, but this hilltop compound is laden with Old Hollywood history.

Back in the ‘50s, Frank Sinatra lived at the midcentury-modern mansion in question. That’s not the estate’s only draw, though. Located on a cliff in Chatsworth, Calif., Byrdview was originally built in 1951 by William Pereira and is only one of four residences that the architect created. Aside from housing Old Blue Eyes, the iconic pad has played host to Marilyn Monroe, appeared in Mad Men (among other TV shows and movies) and was where Judy Garland famously renewed her wedding vows. Now, the legendary abode is back on the market for $12.75 million.

Byrdview was penned by architect William Pereira.

Living up to its name, Byrdview is perched high above the city and offers a bird’s-eye view of the 1,325-acre Chatsworth Nature Preserve below. The compound is set on nearly eight acres and gated for added privacy. Altogether, the estate comprises a main house, a one-bedroom guest house, plus a 2,000-square-foot pergola. You’ll also find a 50-foot swimming pool and a detached structure that could be used as a gym, massage room or pool house. If you want to channel Sinatra, the listing suggests a recording studio could be added to the grounds. You could also build equestrian facilities, a helipad or a vineyard if that’s more your speed.

The former home of singer Frank Sinatra features a glass-walled piano room, of course.

The striking, 6,661-square-foot primary residence is wrapped in walls of glass for postcard-like views. Inside, there are seven bedrooms, seven full bathrooms and two half baths. You’ll also find numerous gallery-type spaces throughout in which you can display your collection.

Although the home has been restored, the contemporary elements are artfully balanced with Pereira’s original design. “Some of the pieces of glass are original single-pane glass and one of the sliding doors that’s 18 feet long and 12 feet high,” Barrie Livingstone of Sotheby’s International Realty told Mansion Global. “It’s just amazing this 70-year-old house looks as modern as it can be.”

Elsewhere, warm wood accents and full-height windows add a mid-century feel to the living room, dining room and piano room. We’re sure the latter is where Sinatra spent most of this time. Speaking of the crooner, the sprawling grounds of Byrdview offer enough space to accommodate hundreds of guests at a time. Sounds like it’s time to get your Rat Pack ready.

Elvis and Priscilla Presley’s Palm Springs Honeymoon Hideaway Just Listed for $5.6 Million

The seller of this Palm Springs landmark has left the building. And now, you too can live like Elvis and Priscilla Presley once did.

Most famous for being the futuristic residence in which the King and his wife honeymooned in 1967, a popular California tourist attraction dubbed “The House of Tomorrow” has just hit the market after an ambitious two-year renovation. The mid-century modern abode dates back to 1962 when it was first designed by William Krisel for home builder Robert Alexander. Alexander loved it so much; he kept the commission for himself. Shortly after, the “it” couple was said to have leased the space for a year prior to their marriage, reported The Wall Street Journal.

Its unusual design can be likened to that of a spaceship, gaining the attention of architectural lovers and Elvis fanatics alike throughout the years. The nearly 5,000-square-foot home has four bedrooms and a pentagon-shaped pool. Sadly, the original tennis court is no longer. However, what makes it stand out is the geometric design and its space-age aesthetic. Think a winged roof reminiscent of a butterfly mid-flight and four circular pods that are interconnected to form the framework. All that’s missing is a flying car in the driveway.

Internally, you’ll find several other nods to the modernist movement including curved stone walls, a rounded built-in sofa, terrazzo floors and tons of floor-to-ceiling windows. The sellers, Dan Bridge and Paul Armitstead, even went as far as to restore the original color of the exterior with the help of a 1960s paint supplier during the reno. “Our goal in this was not to have a museum, but rather turn this into a living and breathing home for people who will live in it, not just use it as a showpiece,” Bridge tells WSJ.

The landmark dubbed “The House of Tomorrow” just underwent a two-year renovation but kept its mid-century modern theme.

The two came across the property during Palm Springs’ Modernism Week and decided to buy the residence in 2020 for $2.6 million with the hope of restoring it to its former glory. Inside, they were met with loads of Elvis memorabilia—most of which has been removed and auctioned off by the previous owner. Today, their most important updates include a rebuilt kitchen and a brand-new round center island. Elsewhere, the circular theme continues with custom fixtures and finishes, in addition to a floating fireplace.

This stunning remodel has us all shook up.

Jennifer Connelly and Paul Bettany’s Lavish NYC Penthouse Could Be Yours for $10.8 Million

Looks like you have a second chance at owning a Hollywood power couple’s lavish New York digs.

This picturesque New York City penthouse that celebrity couple Jennifer Connelly and Paul Bettany once called home is back on the market. The full-floor Tribeca abode comes with four bedrooms, two-and-a-half bathrooms and a lush 1,280-square-foot private roof deck. The loft was first listed in April of this year for $12 million. The asking price has now dropped to $10.8 million.

Connelly, who recently starred in Top Gun: Maverick, and Bettany, who just joined Tom Hanks on Miramax’s film adaptation of Here, snagged the chic Manhattan pad in 2012 and sold it four years later to Billy Hult. The President of Tradeweb Markets paid $6.99 million for the circa 1856 residence, as reported by the New York Post. The apartment still maintains much of its 19th-century charm, with a wood-burning stove, soaring ceilings, steel-framed arched factory windows and skylights throughout.

    The library has wall-to-wall bookshelves.

Elsewhere, the living spaces are outfitted with expansive windows that flood the loft with natural light. The epitome of bright and airy, the home features a 45-foot-wide living room, a double-height skylit chef’s kitchen and a dedicated sunroom that leads out to the terrace. There’s also a library outfitted with wall-to-wall, built-in bookshelves and a spacious dining area. Step into the primary suite and you’ll find a dressing room that’s joined by an equally impressive bathroom clad in travertine.

The private rooftop terrace comes with its own sauna, seating area and greenery.

One of the biggest standouts, though, is the entertainer’s paradise on the roof. It comes complete with a sauna, planter boxes, trees and plenty of seating. “There’s something incredibly serene about the space,” listing agent Debbie Korb of Sotheby’s International Realty the Post in April. “Sunlight glittering off the river, large expanses of wide-open spaces and an enchanting rooftop terrace.”

Did we mention you’re getting it at a discount?

Lil Wayne Is Selling His Waterfront Mansion in Miami Beach for $30 Million

Lil Wayne is looking to make a milli or two by offloading his Florida digs.

The American rapper, born Dwayne Michael Carter Jr., has just put his epic waterfront estate in Miami Beach on the market with a price tag of $29.5 million.

Located in the small, tropical oasis of Allison Island, the stylish, contemporary mansion was built back in 2017. The Grammy winner, who describes himself as a “young money millionaire,” purchased the abode just one year later for $16.75 million, according to property records.

It appears to be worth eight figures, too. The half-acre parcel offers 110 feet of water frontage on the sparkling Biscayne Bay. The modern manse, which spans just over 10,600 square feet, features seven bedrooms, nine bathrooms and prime water views.

A grand mahogany-clad entryway leads to a great room with windows that run from the floor all the way up to the 22-foot-high ceilings. From here, you’ll find the main kitchen with custom Italian cabinetry and Sub-Zero and Wolf appliances, a chef’s kitchen with separate staff quarters, two family rooms, a movie theater and a wine cellar. Elsewhere, the expansive primary suite is fit for rap royalty, with dual primary baths, a walk-in closet, a lounge and a large terrace overlooking the bay.

Outdoors, meanwhile, the backyard comes equipped with a large swimming pool, an outdoor dining space and a cabana. You’ll also enjoy direct access to the pristine waters of Miami Beach and a three-car garage.

The “Lollipop” singer’s pad is located in one of Miami Beach’s most sought-after gated communities, according to listing agent Cyril Matz of Douglas Elliman. Indeed, the 35-acre Allison Island is dotted with luxury homes and condos that have become increasingly difficult to come by.

“With a very limited supply in the ultra-luxury market and a high demand for new homes on Miami Beach, 6480 Allison Road checks all the boxes for today’s discerning buyers looking for the ultimate waterfront property,” Matz told Robb Report via email.
