      Jeremy Renner’s Longtime L.A. Home Hits the Market for $13 Million

      A little over a decade ago, Jeremy Renner acquired a 1960s abode in the Hollywood Hills neighborhood of Los Angeles. There, in what he has referred to as his “forever home,” the veteran film and TV actor and prolific real estate developer added a wealth of particularly lavish personal touches. He also spent time recuperating from a horrific snowplow accident that occurred at his Nevada residence in early 2023 and nearly cost him his life.

      “I split my time between a house in Lake Tahoe and my home in Los Angeles,” Renner said on his Tumblr account awhile back. “In both, I spent money on things I wouldn’t have done in a spec home. I installed a massive solar-panel package that’s one of the biggest in L.A. You’d never do that on a house you’re going to sell, because it takes four or five years to get your money back on the investment. I wouldn’t have built a giant lagoon with a dive bridge and waterfall sculpted by the guys who do it for the San Diego Zoo. That’s a little too radical for some buyers, but I’m building a house I’m going to live in for the rest of my years. It’s about my taste and my desires.”

      But that was then! Now, 12 years later, the Mayor of Kingstown star has opted to part with his longtime home and has the place up for sale, asking a smidge under $13 million—or around $9 million more than he paid back in spring 2012. Per The Wall Street Journal, which first reported the news, Renner extensively renovated the premises during his tenure to the tune of about $5.5 million, most notably more than doubling the size of the house while being sure to retain its midcentury roots. He also added a detached recording studio and graded the sloped lot to allow for more functional outdoor space.

      Originally built in the early 1960s, the low-slung structure is tucked securely behind walls and gates amid a cul-de-sac parcel of land spanning over an acre within the Nichols Canyon area, near Runyon Canyon Park. A total of six bedrooms and nine baths are spread across 4,000 square feet of open-concept living space, which is adorned throughout with dark gray polished floors, wood-beam ceilings dotted with clerestory windows and skylights, and Fleetwood sliding glass doors providing seamless indoor/outdoor environs.

      Especially standing out is a mirror-lined living area boasting an eye-catching fireplace and a snazzy bar. Other highlights include a screening room and a formal dining space that connects to a gourmet kitchen hosting dual islands, top-notch stainless appliances (including a pricey La Cornue range), a walk-in pantry, and an accompanying breakfast nook with banquette seating. A spacious primary suite flaunts a private wraparound balcony, dual closets, and a luxe bath.

      Four additional en-suite bedrooms all have access to the picturesque grounds, which are spotlighted by a pool and spa with bridges and waterfalls, as well as plenty of spots that are ideal for al fresco lounging and entertaining. A separate guesthouse with an en-suite bedroom and an attached three-car garage also can be found on the property, which is listed by Rayni Williams and Branden Williams of The Beverly Hills Estates.

      According to WSJ, the 53-year-old Northern California native and two-time Oscar-nominated actor is selling because he is looking to downsize and focus on his recovery. “I need to kind of move on to other things,” said Renner, who recently wrapped filming of the latest season of the TV series Mayor of Kingstown and is gearing up to work on a book about his near-death experience and recovery.

      Ronda Rousey Pins a Buyer for Her $1 Million Vacation Home in SoCal

      While she’s awaiting a buyer for her cozy, space-savvy bungalow in the oceanside Venice Beach community of Los Angeles, Ronda Rousey has been busy knocking out the sale of a 4.5-acre vacation home she owns in the Southern California mountaintop community of Running Springs, about 90 miles east of Los Angeles and 20-some miles east of Big Bear Lake. Now it seems the retired UFC and WWE star has officially landed a contract for the hillside property, which was most recently listed for a speck under $1 million—or around $235,000 more than she paid for the place a little more than six years ago. The listing is held by Christina Thomas of Goat & Dime.

      Built in the early 1990s and purchased by Rousey for $765,000 in spring 2018, the green-hued and brick-accented home rests in the Rimwood Ranch equestrian neighborhood and offers four bedrooms and a matching number of baths in a little more than 3,700 square feet of two-level living space. Recently upgraded, the newly contemporary interiors sport a mix of hardwood and carpeted floors, high ceilings, and an open-concept floor plan, while the kitchen flaunts granite countertops, a central island, a breakfast bar, newer stainless appliances, a workstation, and a casual dining area.

      In addition to formal living and dining rooms, other main-level highlights include a sunken family room displaying a fireplace and glass doors leading out to an expansive rear deck offering picturesque mountain and forest views, as well as a loft-style game room that comes complete with a built-in wet bar. Upstairs, the spacious primary suite hosts a fireside lounge area, a walk-in closet, and a bath equipped with dual vanities, a spa tub, and a glass-encased shower.

      There’s also a three-car garage with plenty of storage space and driveway parking for multiple cars, plus easy access to the nearby Snow Valley ski resort and surrounding San Bernardino County communities of Big Bear and Lake Arrowhead.

      Rousey, 37, currently owns two California and Oregon ranch properties known collectively as Browsey Acres, where she rears Wagyu beef and pasture-raised chicken alongside her ex-UFC competitor husband Travis Browne. In L.A., her two-bedroom, one-bath home in Venice Beach was recently listed for nearly $1.9 million.

      Comedian Buddy Hackett’s Former Beverly Hills Home Hits the Market for $18 Million

      Before late actor and comedian Buddy Hackett settled into his longtime home across from the Los Angeles Country Club, the legendary funnyman lived at this Beverly Hills estate just a few doors down the street. Hackett, who died in 2003 at the age of 78 at his beach house in Malibu, is best remembered for his roles in The Music Man and It’s a Mad, Mad, Mad, Mad World. 

      The Spanish-style compound at 718 Walden Drive sprawls over an almost half-acre lot in an area of town known as the Beverly Hills Flats. Over the years, the neighborhood of broad, tree-lined streets and stately residences amid sculpted gardens has been home to a slew of high-profile residents, including Jimmy Stewart, Diane Keaton, and Simon Cowell. It’s also the neighborhood where Howard Hughes took out three homes when he crashed an experimental plane in July 1947 and where, just a month earlier, gangster Bugsey Siegel was gunned down in the home of his girlfriend Virginia Hill.

      Hackett’s former digs, which date to 1929, recently got a top-to-bottom spruce-up courtesy of its current owners who have floated the revamped spread onto the market for just shy of $18 million. “They completely took it down to the studs,” listing agent Rochelle Maize of Nourmand & Associates told Mansion Global. “It’s almost like a brand new house.” The main residence features four bedrooms and seven bathrooms in just over 7,700 square feet. There are two additional guest spaces on the property.

      The overhaul nicely preserved some of the home’s original architectural details, including the creamy white stucco, terracotta roof, and exposed wood ceilings, while the decorator-ready white-walled interior spaces were largely stripped of moldings and other extraneous ornamentation. Important upgrades also included the installation of new electrical and plumbing systems, high-definition security cameras, and a home automation system with Nest thermostats.

      The home is tucked behind a spacious courtyard clad with red brick, and just beyond the front doors are clear remnants of the abode’s past. The staircase is dressed up with decorative tiles, and there are soaring truss ceilings in the foyer and living room. The dwelling also includes a large family room decked out with a custom, step-down bar. This space also contains a wine cellar and custom wall-to-wall cabinets, while the nearby chef’s kitchen is equipped with an impressive 12-foot center island and top-of-the-line appliances from Sub-Zero and Wolf.

      Other standout spaces include a dedicated entertainment lounge with a wet bar and the main bedroom, which is outfitted with a private office that opens onto an outdoor balcony, as well as dual closets, and a pair of spa baths kitted out with heated flooring.

      The property’s ample proportions provide plenty of room for a 40-foot-long swimming pool and a pool house with a bathroom, plus a spacious en-suite guest unit above the detached two-car garage. And for those on the pickleball craze, a flat expanse of lawn alongside the pool will comfortably accommodate a regulation pickleball court.

      Olivia Wilde’s Onetime Spanish Villa in L.A. Could Be Yours for $4.8 Million

      Back in 2011, Olivia Wilde doled out nearly $2.3 million for a bachelorette pad that was occupied in previous years by the likes of puppeteer, director, and producer Brian Henson, the son of famed Muppets creator Jim Henson, and reportedly leased out at different times by Natalie Portman and Joe Jonas. An attached two-car garage can also be found on the premises, which are listed by Patricia Ruben and Alan Melkonyan of Sotheby’s International Realty-Los Feliz Brokerage.

      Wilde has since moved on to other residential circumstances, having recently picked up a Barbara Bestor-designed compound in the Studio City area of L.A. for nearly $6 million. After the demise of her nearly decade-long relationship with Sudeikis in 2020, the couple’s jointly owned townhouse in Brooklyn went to Sudeikis and a renovated hacienda in L.A.’s Silver Lake neighborhood was sold for $4.2 million to an entertainment attorney and his wife.

      A Stylish Country Club Estate in South Florida Seeks $4 Million

      Way back in the 1940s, Sherle Wagner came up with the idea to open a small closet accessories shop in New York City with his wife Rose. Soon after, the pair decided to capitalize on a dearth of luxury products in the mostly functional bath market and began designing imaginative and glamorous offerings ranging from 24-carat gold-plated dolphin faucets to hand-painted basins and even gold-plated toilet seats, all of which attracted the likes of Frank Sinatra, President John F. Now the late couple’s stylish West Palm Beach residence has popped up on the market for the first time in nearly four decades, asking a speck under $4 million. The listing is held by Alexa Hammer and Brian Fairweather Jr. of The Agency.

      Though he already owns a $4 million mansion in an exclusive guard-gated community in Scottsdale, Ariz., Rob Schneider has plumped up his real estate portfolio with yet another residence. Records show the comedian and actor—who has made headlines recently for apologizing to his daughter Elle King during a Tucker Carlson interview after she ripped him in public for being a bad dad—and his longtime wife Patricia doled out a smidge over $2.5 million for some renovated digs in the Woodland Hills neighborhood of Los Angeles, deep within the San Fernando Valley.

      This Malibu Retreat Starred in ‘The Canyons’ With Lindsay Lohan. Now It Can Be Yours for $7.3 Million

      With its striking architecture and blockbuster views, a Malibu estate featured in the 2013 movie The Canyons is a character unto itself.

      And, if you’re here for Lindsay Lohan’s latest comeback era, you’ll be happy to know that the hilltop home where the Freaky Friday actress filmed the 2013 horror movie—part of an earlier comeback attempt for the child star turned reality TV pioneer turned nightclub impressario—has hit the market for $7.3 million. Russell Grether and Tony Mark of Compass hold the listing. The avant-garde abode at 21940 Lamplighter Lane had a starring role in the Paul Schrader-directed flick, which featured Lohan as Tara, alongside adult actor James Deen, who played her film producer boyfriend Christian. 

      Even though the low-budget project was considered a flop—it has a Rotten Tomatoes score of 21 percent—the sprawling 12-acre spread inevitably stole the show during the three-week shoot. Due to cost constraints, Schrader decided to work largely with preexisting locations, including the storied Chateau Marmont and the Palihotel Melrose serving as backdrops. The director, alongside writer Bret Easton Ellis, also held a polarizing crowd-funding campaign to raise money, which helped them secure the hilltop home in question.

      “One Kickstarter donor gave $10,000 to the production and another $10,000 to a designer so that Schrader could use his beautiful house in the Malibu hills for filming,” The Times reported back in 2013. “It was a significant break; the house was a stately pleasure dome with giant picture windows, a stairway leading to a pool, and a sweeping view to the sea. It quickly became the most dependable player in the film after James Deen.”

      Completed in 1978, the modernist digs were originally designed by architect Vitus Mataré. With nods to greats like Le Corbusier and Ludwig Mies van der Rohe, the dwelling sports dramatic angles and curved walls, contrasted by unobstructed views of the Pacific Ocean and Carbon Mesa. “The setting of this home is incredibly unique, situated on its own promontory,” Grether said in a statement. “The private road access makes all of Malibu easily accessible while having true panoramic views of the ocean and surrounding untouched mountains.” 

      The primary bedroom showcases a wood-clad ceiling and lots of windows with leafy mountain views.

      Altogether, the compound features four separate structures, including a main house with a two-car garage, a pool house, a detached carport, and a workspace that doubles as a gym or music studio. The four-bed, four-bath primary residence is decked out with vaulted wood ceilings and minimalist finishes. On the main level, you’ll find an open living area, a formal dining room, a kitchen, and an expansive covered patio. The detached workspace is notched into the hillside next to the house, where it has unobstructed views, while a corkscrew staircase winds down to the pool house that is tucked underneath the pool terrace. The sale also includes the lot next door at 2620 Coal Canyon Road.
