    Harry Connick Jr. Is Asking $12.5 Million for His Coastal New England Retreat

    You’ll need more than a wink and a smile to pick up this Massachusetts estate! As first reported by The Wall Street Journal, the coastal 1.3-acre spread long owned by award-winning singer, pianist, and actor Harry Connick Jr. has just popped up for sale in the Lower Cape Cod enclave of Chatham, asking $12.5 million. The listing is held by Paul Grover and Matthew de Groot of Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices Robert Paul Properties.

    Records show the New Orleans-born crooner and his wife, former Victoria’s Secret model Jill Goodacre, paid $5.3 million back in early 2006 for the Oyster Pond Lane property. Tucked away behind tall hedges and a lengthy tree-lined driveway, the charming wood-shingled structure boasts five bedrooms and six bathrooms in a tad over 5,300 square feet of two-level living space, all of it accented throughout with the original pine floors, reclaimed wood, and numerous fireplaces.

    Built back in the 1960s but extensively renovated during the couple’s tenure, the blufftop structure overlooks Chatham Village and Oyster Pond, a saltwater basin that flows to Nantucket Sound and the Atlantic Ocean. There’s also a staircase and a raised walkway leading down to a boathouse and a private dock, plus an attached two-car garage.

    Other highlights include an entrance hallway displaying a traditional staircase, along with a cozy family room sporting built-in bookcases flanking a wood-burning fireplace. A gourmet kitchen is outfitted with a built-in buffet, an eat-in island, top-tier stainless appliances, and a dining area flaunting two sets of French doors spilling out to the backyard.

    Accessed via a private staircase is an upstairs primary suite, which comes complete with a water-view balcony, a walk-in closet, and a luxe bath equipped with dual vanities, a soaking tub, and a glass-encased shower, as well as a study where Connick worked on his tunes. Outdoors, the park-like grounds are dotted with manicured gardens and mature trees and host a fire pit and a freeform swimming pool surrounded by a brick-clad terrace.

    According to WSJ, Connick and Goodacre have decided to let go of the house, which is being sold fully furnished, because they are spending less time on the Cape now that their children are grown.

    In other musician-related real estate news, Kendrick Lamar reportedly just dropped $40 million on a nine-bedroom estate in the Los Angeles neighborhood of Brentwood, while his current arch nemesis Drake wrangled a sprawling Texas ranch for $15 million. Meghan Trainor also scooped up DJ Zedd’s rockstar-worthy mansion in L.A. for $17 million.

    An Artist’s Colorful Live-Work Studio in Brooklyn Can Be Yours for $7 Million

    After spending more than a decade in Brooklyn, acclaimed sculptor John Mosler is moving on, and the home that he’s leaving behind is a piece of art in its own right.

    The property, one of New York’s more unique offerings, is a two-story live-work warehouse on the border of Carroll Gardens and Gowanus. Dubbed “Number 47″—a nod to its 47 4th Street address—the spread is listed for just shy of $7 million and features a state-of-the-art studio and workshop, a gallery space, an office, and private living quarters. All together, there are two full bathrooms and a couple of half-baths.

    Aside from all that, the abode includes private parking via a remote-controlled garage and a sprawling roof deck. If you happen to be more of a collector than a creative, or someone who wants even more space than the existing 5,782 square feet, the pad also presents an opportunity for future expansion that could take the dwelling to a whopping 12,500 square feet.

    Mosler bought the derelict building in 2010 with his wife, Jean Won Mosler, founder of Maum Design. At the time, the couple shelled out a cool $1.1 million for the structure and then tapped architect Jonathan Marvel to lead a gut renovation while Jean Won tackled the interior. “Everything here has a changeability to it,” she told The New York Times back in 2015. “It had to be able to transform very easily from studio to gallery to entertainment space to business meetings.” 

    From the outside, the brick-clad pad is painted bright purple and sports bubblegum pink doors. Internally, the ground floor is decked out with soaring 17-foot ceilings and a 30-foot glass-walled central atrium that brings ample light to the center of the building. One side of the home is equipped with a gallery space that features a 12-foot glass folding wall. Beyond that is a lounge and casual entertaining area with radiant heated floors, a sleek kitchen and a linear gas fireplace. Towards the back, you’ll find an office (or guest room, your choice) with dramatic 20-foot ceilings, a lofted area and an ensuite bath.

    One of the artsy dig’s many highlights is the upper-level penthouse bedroom suite, which spans a whopping 1,200 square feet and features oak flooring, motorized shades, a kitchenette concealed within cabinetry, a large walk-in closet, and a windowed ensuite bath. The latter is kitted out with a custom double vanity, a smart toilet, heated towel racks, a steam shower, and a soaking tub. Of course, the coolest part is the private terrace for those summer sunsets.

    On the opposite end is where Mosler’s studio and workshop are located. The art lab is illuminated by lots of skylights, plus it has exposed beams and a mezzanine level. Fun fact: It’s also where the sculptor and ceramicist has held his in-studio exhibitions.

The neighborhood will be mostly reoriented toward the waterfront, where there will be a new network of public esplanades, parkland, and plaza space with shops and eateries dotting brand-new streets—as well as plenty of new luxury housing.”

    Dodgers Star Shohei Ohtani Scores SoCal Estate for $7.8 Million

    Shohei Ohtani may be out some $16 million because of his crooked interpreter, but MLB’s $700 million man seemingly still has more than enough cash left over to splash out on his choice of prime real estate.

    In March, the Los Angeles Dodgers star paid $1.4 million for a 1.1-acre parcel on the Big Island of Hawaii, where he plans to build a roughly 5,000-square home with ocean views in Hapuna Estates, a new gated community within the Mauna Kea Resort. And now, he’s just forked over millions more for a modern mansion in the leafy L.A. suburb of La Cañada Flintridge. Reportedly one of the city’s priciest transactions ever, the deal was first written up by the Los Angeles Times.

    Originally hitting the market for a speck under $9 million back in June 2023 and subsequently reduced to $8.3 million, records show the nearly 1-acre spread ultimately went to the Japanese baseball sensation for a discounted $7.8 million. The seller was comedian and podcaster Adam Carolla, who picked up the place for $7.3 million almost six years ago, back in late 2018.

    Built in 2013 and extensively renovated during Carolla’s tenure, the gated structure is sited amid a secluded cul-de-sac and features five en-suite bedrooms and a total of six baths sprawled across a little more than 7,300 square feet of three-level living space displaying a mix of contemporary and midcentury-modern interiors accented throughout with bluestone walls, clerestory windows, and stone and wood details. Floor-to-ceiling walls of glass allow for seamless indoor/outdoor environs and other amenities range from an office, a movie theater, a gym, and a sauna to a dumbwaiter and a home-automation system.

    Additional standout features include formal living and dining rooms, a fireside family room that spills out to the backyard, and a gourmet kitchen outfitted with custom cabinetry, a central island, an eat-in peninsula, top-notch Miele and Thermador appliances, and an accompanying breakfast nook. There’s also a spacious primary suite boasting a fireplace, a sitting area, a private balcony, a walk-in closet, and a luxe bath equipped with dual vanities, a spa tub, and a glass-encased shower.

    Outdoors, the landscaped grounds are dotted with oak trees and host an infinity pool and spa bordered by a grassy lawn on one side and a deck on the other, as well as a barbecue and bar setup resting alongside an al fresco dining area, a fire-pit, a sports court, and an attached four-car garage.

    Before he joined the Dodgers in 2023 as a pitcher and a designated hitter, inking the biggest contract in baseball history, 29-year-old Ohtani played six seasons for the L.A. Angels; and he’s also suited up for the Hokkaido Nippon-Ham Fighters of Nippon Professional Baseball. According to Sportico, the two-time MVP also stands to earn around $65 million in lucrative endorsement deals this year, representing brands such as New Balance, Fanatics, and Rapsodo, which makes tracking devices used for baseball, softball, and golf.

    Other recent sports-related transactions include former Brooklyn Nets coach Jacque Vaughn scooping up a $2.5 million condo at the Quay Tower, where Zendaya reportedly owns a $5 million unit, and Boston Celtics star Al Horford’s mansion in the community of Brookline coming to market for $9 million.     Celtics Star Al Horford’s Boston-Area Home Bounces on the Market for $9 Million

    After almost three years of ownership, Al Horford is moving on from his Massachusetts estate. The acre-plus spread, tucked away just minutes from downtown Boston in the suburban community of Brookline, is back on the market for a smidge under $9 million. The five-time NBA All-Star and highest-paid Latin American player—who is currently competing in the Eastern Conference Finals with the Boston Celtics—acquired the classic Colonial-inspired home for $7.5 million back in fall 2021, shortly after it was newly built.

    Resting behind wrought-iron gates and fully fenced, the three-level structure is fronted by a spacious motorcourt flanked by an attached three-car garage. Once inside, six bedrooms and eight baths are filtered across a little more than 9,300 square feet of living space that’s been virtually staged by Spotless Agency and boasts caramel-hued hardwood floors, high ceilings, and designer lighting throughout.

    A Judge Just Blocked the Sale of Elvis Presley’s Legendary Graceland Estate

    Elvis Presley fans may no longer have to be all shook up over the potential sale of Graceland.

    The King of Rock and Roll’s former estate was set to go up for auction this week, but a judge in Tennessee has halted the sale, CBS News reported on Wednesday. The temporary injunction comes after the actor Riley Keough, one of Elvis’s granddaughters, accused the company Naussany Investments and Private Lending of trying to sell the home as part of a fraudulent scheme. (Keough inherited the property and her family trust after her mother, Lisa Marie Presley, died last year.)

    “The court will enjoin the sale as requested because, one, the real estate is considered unique under Tennessee law,” Shelby Country Chancellor JoeDae Jenkins said, according to CBS. “And in being unique, the loss of the real estate would be considered irreparable harm.”

    Elvis bought Graceland—then a 10,266-square-foot mansion with 13.8 acres of farmland—back in 1957 for just $102,500, CBS noted. He died at the estate in 1977, and it was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1991. Now, more than 600,000 Elvis fans visit the home, which has been turned into a museum, every year.

    Earlier this month, a public notice for the foreclosure sale of the property was posted, with claims that Promenade Trust, which controls Graceland, owes $3.8 million after failing to repay a loan, CBS wrote. Naussany Investments said Lisa Marie had used the estate as collateral for that loan. Keough, however, says the company created fake documents, and in a lawsuit filed last week, she alleges Naussany Investments “appears to be a false entity created for the purpose” of defrauding Elvis’s family.

    “As the court has now made clear, there was no validity to the claims. There will be no foreclosure,” a spokesperson for Elvis Presley Enterprises told CBS. “Graceland will continue to operate as it has for the past 42 years, ensuring that Elvis fans from around the world can continue to have a best in class experience when visiting his iconic home.”

    While the King’s relatives and fans are likely happy that Graceland will be staying in the family, the property would have probably fetched a pretty penny at auction. Just last year, a dilapidated private jet owned by the King hammered down for $260,000—and now it’s being turned into a luxe RV.

    Thankfully, when tourists head to Memphis to get a little taste of Elvis’s life, for now, Graceland will still be waiting for them.

    Kendrick Lamar Reportedly Drops $40 Million on a 9-Bedroom Estate in L.A.

    For many years, Kendrick Lamar has lived in the seaside town of Manhattan Beach. After years of renting, the acclaimed rapper and songwriter bought a brand-new mansion there about five years ago, with the sandy beach and deep blue sea lying just two short blocks from his doorstep. But he began making moves far more inland in late 2022, when he purchased a traditional spread in the prime East Gate neighborhood of Bel Air. Now he’s reportedly added another Los Angeles property to his portfolio, this one a modern farmhouse-style spread in the Lower Mandeville Canyon area of Brentwood that sits right next door to a home owned by Gwyneth Paltrow.

    Though records have yet to clear, The Wall Street Journal is reporting that Lamar has doled out “more than $40 million” in an off-market deal for his new estate, which is roughly $20.5 million more than its previous owners, Viet Dinh, the former chief legal and policy officer at Fox Corp., and his wife Jennifer Ashworth, paid for the property back in 2019. Should escrow close, it will be one of the priciest transactions in L.A. so far this year.

    Built in 2018 and designed by noted L.A. architect Philip Vertoch, the wood and stone-trimmed structure features nine bedrooms and 15 baths in a little more than 16,200 square feet of tri-level living space adorned throughout with blonde hardwood floors, high wood-beam ceilings, and stone, reclaimed wood, and marble accents. Glitzy amenities include a duo of staircases and an elevator, as well as a wine cellar, a gym, a movie theater, and a spa bath sporting a sauna and massage and steam rooms.

    Hidden away behind gates on a parcel of land spanning nearly an acre, Lamar’s new residence has an attached three-car garage tucked off to the side. Though current MLS images aren’t available and it’s not known whether the Dinhses made any improvements during their tenure, previous listings show a spacious living area boasting built-in shelving, a wet bar, a fireplace notched into a wood-paneled wall, and glass doors spilling out to a covered loggia warmed by a fireplace.

    Other highlights include formal living and dining rooms, plus a gourmet kitchen outfitted with an eat-in island and a secondary caterer’s kitchen. Sequestered upstairs, the opulent primary retreat has a two-way fireplace between the bedroom and a lounge area, along with a balcony and dual walk-in closets and baths. More amenities can be found outdoors, where the private and grassy grounds are spotlighted by a pool with a Baja shelf and spa. There’s also a detached guesthouse on the premises.

    Over the course of his 20-plus-year music career, Lamar has certainly achieved rare levels of success. The 36-year-old Compton native won a whopping 17 Grammys out of 50 nominations, nabbed a Pulitzer Prize for DAMN—the first nonclassical or jazz recording ever to earn the coveted honor for music—and even appeared in a novel hip-hop-centric Super Bowl halftime show in 2022.

    In addition to his Brentwood, Bel Air, and Manhattan Beach homes, Lamar lays claim to a Calabasas residence long occupied by several of his family members. And last year, he paid $8.6 million in cash for a three-floor penthouse in New York City’s Pierhouse building that offers views of Lower Manhattan and the Brooklyn Bridge.

    Drake Snaps Up a Sprawling Texas Ranch for $15 Million—Here’s a Look Inside

    Music superstar Aubrey “Drake” Graham already owns an infamous 50,000-square-foot mega-mansion nestled in Toronto’s affluent Bridle Path neighborhood that cost tens of millions of dollars to build. Not to mention a multimillion-dollar estate in Beverly Hills that he picked up from singer Robbie Williams two years ago and is currently shopping around for a whopping $88 million. But the Canadian “Hotline Bling” rapper just couldn’t resist scooping up an even bigger and more secluded luxury resort property in the Texas city of Brenham, between Austin and Houston.

    Records show Drake doled out $15 million in late October for The Inn at Dos Brisas, a 313-acre spread featuring a Mediterranean-style main house plus several haciendas and casitas. There’s also an equestrian center boasting a spacious indoor arena, along with an organic farm, a greenhouse, a sports court, and a restaurant sporting a 7,000-bottle wine cellar.

    Purchased by Houston tech mogul Doug Bosch and his wife Jennifer in 2000 as a family retreat and then converted into a resort in 2004, the much-beloved Relais & Châteaux-branded property shuttered its doors in 2022 due to COVID-related losses. In previous years, it was listed as one of CultureMap Houston’s picks for the 10 best hotels in Texas and claimed the state’s only Forbes Travel Guide five-star restaurant.

    The main home is highlighted by a bar-equipped lounge area, a fireside dining room, and a large swimming pool and spa surrounded by an expansive sundeck. Five haciendas and four casitas range in size from 800 square feet to 1,795 square feet and include amenities like stone fireplaces, kitchenettes, luxe baths, screened porches, and private plunge pools. Golf carts are readily available for exploring the picturesque grounds, which are laced with pecan trees and wildflowers and host a rose garden, a trio of fishing ponds, and Peach Creek.

    Though it’s unknown whether he plans to resurrect the resort as a business or use it as a high-end country estate, Drake’s new spread “has proven that it can and has been the best in its class as a restaurant and inn,” listing agent Tonya Currie at the Lifestyle Ranch & Home Group of Compass told Mansion Global last May, after she had relisted the property for $2.5 million off its original asking price.

    Going forward, she added, The Inn at Dos Brisas “has the potential to be tapped into for use in so many other areas such as equestrian venues, a festival destination, medical retreat, country club or just for those wanting the best in a personal luxury getaway ranch.”
