Home of the Week: This $39 Million Hawaiian Compound Has 4 Homes and 150 Feet of Pristine Coastline

This grand Hawaiian estate on Maui was certainly designed for entertaining.

The sprawling property, located along a spectacular stretch of coastline, had long been owned by Jerry Moss, the late record producer and co-founder of A&M Records. Moss, who passed away in August 2023 at the age of 88, acquired the first part of the compound in 1995 for $2.5 million, according to the WSJ. In 2000, he purchased an adjoining parcel and later acquired another. Together, he amassed 1.4 acres. During this time, Old Makena Road was known for its rustic dirt lanes and secluded beaches. Today, the area has several mansions and beachfront properties.

The open-plan living areas spread out over multiple levels.

    Travis Rowan

On the market for $39 million, it’s currently the most expensive active listing in the state of Hawaii. The gated property has 148 feet of beach frontage along Po’olenalena Beach and comprises four houses, which Moss and his family built over the years. Together, there are a collective seven bedrooms and seven bathrooms in 6,352 square feet of living space. Unlike many modern-day multi-million-dollar Hawaiian compounds, the four residences are all modest in size, and each bungalow boasts an intimate vibe and indoor-outdoor living.

Moss and his wife, Tina, whom he married in 2019, replaced the wood siding of the four homes with smooth stucco and weather-resistant ipe wood. Inside, the homes feature teak detailing and local materials, such as the stone fireplace in the main residence. Throughout the homes, there is quintessential island-style decor, like wooden paddles, tiki heads, surfboards, and ukuleles hanging along the walls.

The covered lanai of the main residence has a particularly appealing view.

    Travis Rowan

The main residence features an open, airy layout with vaulted, wood-beamed ceilings. There is a chef’s kitchen with top-of-the-line appliances and a nearby large dining area. Down a few steps is the cozy living room with panoramic windows and perfectly framed views of the beach and Pacific Ocean. Sliding glass pocket doors open to the covered lanai with a fire pit. Upstairs is the home’s primary bedroom, which connects to a covered terrace.

There’s also an outdoor kitchen with a barbecue off to the side of the home and a nearby outdoor dining table. A manicured lawn, sprinkled with tropical foliage and swaying palm trees, is the only thing that separates the house from a pristine stretch of beach. The lawn features sun loungers and a hammock to enjoy the postcard views on breezy Hawaiian afternoons.

The homes are clustered together. However, each is surrounded by lush landscaping that gives it a sense of privacy. Bright flowers and native plants line the walkway between the homes. The property also features a large swimming pool with stunning ocean views, as well as an outdoor lava rock shower with a bright mosaic wall. Tiki torches illuminate the grounds at night.

    The pool overlooking the ocean.

    Travis Rowan

According to the WSJ, Moss and his family moved to Hawaii full-time during the COVID pandemic; the family has decided to sell and create new memories elsewhere. The property is co-listed by Nancy Callahan of Coldwell Banker Island Properties and Paul Stukin of Deep Blue HI.

Moss, who founded A&M Records alongside Herb Alpert, oversaw an impressive roster of musicians, including Liza Minelli, Sting, Janet Jackson, Carole King, and many others. Shortly after the music industry mandarin died last year, the family also listed a Bel-Air mansion for $53 million. The home was built in 1937 and has five bedrooms and 13 bathrooms.

A Wealthy British Entrepreneur Flips Steve Wynn’s Former Las Vegas Mansion Back Up for Sale

Less than two years after he paid Steve Wynn $17.5 million for his palatial Las Vegas residence, British businessman and investor Simon Dolan is ready to let it go, this time with a hefty $24.5 million ask. And though there probably aren’t any priceless Matisse and Picasso paintings remaining from the avid art collector’s nearly four-year stay in the luxe European-style digs, there definitely are plenty of casino tycoon-worthy amenities—a crystal-accented staircase, plush movie theater and lift-equipped garage that can accommodate up to six vehicles, just to name a few.

Custom-built in 2001—and sited in the exclusive guard-gated Country Club Hills development within the Summerlin planned community, about 12 miles west of the Strip—the golden-hued stucco and terracotta roof structure is nestled on almost 1.5 acres overlooking the TPC Summerlin golf course, and tucked away behind walls and its own set of gates.

The golden-hued home is fronted by a spacious motorcourt.

Inside, six en-suite bedrooms and 11 baths are sprawled across 15,000 square feet of two-level living space that reportedly underwent a $16 million remodel during Wynn’s tenure in collaboration with noted designer Todd-Avery Lenahan. Think marble floors and pillars, walls sheathed in mohair and silk, bespoke carpets, automated draperies and designer light fixtures, plus high-tech security, fire-suppression and smart-home systems.

Other highlights include a double-height entry foyer displaying the aforementioned crystal staircase, along with a formal living room, two offices topped by custom backlit ceilings and a fireside family room sporting a climate-controlled wine cellar. A formal dining area leads to the gourmet kitchen, which comes complete with walnut cabinetry, an eat-in island, top-tier stainless appliances and an accompanying breakfast room.

The family room has a decorative fireplace and access to a climate-controlled wine cellar.

Elsewhere is the movie theater, a library and duo of fully equipped gyms, as well as a posh master retreat boasting dual showroom-style closets and luxe baths; and outdoors, the manicured grounds host a garden bolstered by a tiered fountain and nearby gazebo, sundeck-encased pool and spa, and sport court, plus ample spots for al fresco lounging and entertaining amid the picturesque golf course and mountain vistas.

A self-made millionaire who amassed his fortune through accountancy services, Dolan also has dabbled in the motor racing and aviation industries, and made headlines back in 2020 when he challenged the U.K. government in court over the country’s pandemic lockdowns. Wynn, meanwhile, resigned as chairman and CEO of Wynn Resorts in 2018 after allegations of sexual misconduct. Between them, they lay claim to several multimillion-dollar homes, with Dolan owning an estate on the Caribbean island of Mustique that once belonged to David Bowie, and Wynn maintaining several residences spanning from New York City to Beverly Hills, the latter of which is currently on the market for a whopping $75 million.

This $12.5 Million Arizona Mansion Is a Sports Lover’s Dream

Located in the exclusive gated enclave DC Ranch/Silverleaf Development in Scottsdale, Arizona, this $12.5 million mansion—owned by former NHL player John Curry—takes the win for the most over-the-top amenities. The 12,000-square-foot home was built in 2020 and has a modern Mediterranean style. It’s situated on a half-acre with a total of eight bedrooms and nine bathrooms across three floors.

Designed as the ultimate family compound, this North Scottsdale abode is almost like a mini-resort. The main level features a large great room with double-height ceilings, a dining table, and a fireplace. It’s ideal for those with an impressive art collection thanks to the ample white wall space in nearly every room. Fronting the great room, there are telescoping glass walls that open directly onto the landscaped outdoor sanctuary—complete with a fireplace, dining area, kitchen, a large pool, spa, basketball hoop in the pool, grassy lawn, and sunset-facing views. Surrounding the pool, there are also two covered cabanas, should you need a respite from the omnipresent desert sunshine.

A disappearing wall of glass unites the double-height great room with the exterior living and entertaining spaces.

    Russ Lyon Sotheby’s International Realty

The great room connects to the open-plan chef’s kitchen, which has a large center island and marble countertops and backsplashes. The extensive suite of designer appliances includes a built-in coffee maker, a pebble ice maker, two dishwashers, and a steam oven. Oenophiles will also appreciate the nearby bar area, which has a temperature-controlled wine room with wall shelving for showing off your most precious bottles.

The main level also features a complete primary wing, with the primary bedroom, private office, sumptuous bathroom, and generous closet space. From this level, you can also reach the two attached guest casitas that were designed so that live-in nannies, staff, or out-of-town relatives can enjoy privacy while in town.

Even the home’s laundry room takes it to another level. It doesn’t just house a washer and dryer; it also has a dedicated dog wash area, so pets can be pampered just as much as the home’s two-legged residents.

There is a dedicated Peloton room with panoramic neighborhood and mountain views.

    Russ Lyon Sotheby’s International Realty

The upper level is devoted mostly to kids. There are three en suite bedrooms, a living room with doors that open to a terrace, a TV lounge, and a separate study area. There’s also a dedicated Peloton room with a Peloton bike and treadmill; it has lovely views over Scottsdale.

The lower level, however, is for serious sports aficionados. There is a professionally designed 72-foot by 30-foot ice hockey rink that can also transform into a state-of-the-art workout room, theater, golf simulator, or sports court (like pickleball or basketball). The lower level also has a lounge area, a bar with interior windows overlooking the hockey rink, and a kid’s bunk room.

The property is listed with Kathleen Benoit, Bee Francis, and Madelaine Elfgren of Russ Lyon Sotheby’s International Realty.

A ‘Seinfeld’ Producer Listed a Los Angeles Mansion for $17.8 Million

Hollywood producer Andrew Scheinman—whose credits include Seinfeld, A Few Good Men (1992), and When Harry Met Sally (1989)—has put his newly transformed Los Angeles mansion on the market.

The boxy contemporary home on rustic Old Orchard Road is listed for a cool $17.8 million with David Kramer of Hilton & Hyland/Forbes Global Properties and Paul Czako of Gussman Czako Estates. According to property records, the writer-director originally purchased the pad back in 2018 for just shy of $4.5 million. Following the sale, the home was redesigned by the award-winning firm Rockefeller Kempel Architects. The comprehensive overhaul was completed just this year.

TV and film producer Andrew Scheinman has put a revamped Los Angeles home up for sale.

    Simon Berlyn

The filmmaker’s Brentwood abode sits on under an acre of land above Lower Mandeville Canyon and comprises six bedrooms and a whopping nine bathrooms. Set behind gates, the hillside is dotted with 150 newly planted trees, while lush greenery surrounds the driveway, which has room for more than 15 cars. Among the spread’s standout features are a 28-foot limestone-walled entry, custom wide plank European oak flooring, red cedar paneling (both indoors and outside), and tons of glass.

On the main floor, the living room is decked out with a giant floor-to-ceiling stone-clad fireplace. Nearby, a transparent 72-bottle wine closet separates the living area from the dining room. In the kitchen, you’ll find an eat-in island for up to six people, a hidden walk-in pantry, and top-of-the-line appliances from Miele, Wolf, and Sub-Zero. The digs also sport an elevator, a rooftop deck that faces the ocean, a private gym with an infrared sauna, and a movie theater that’s equipped with a 165-inch screen and Dolby Atmos surround sound system.

The residence was redesigned by Rockefeller Kempel Architects.

    Simon Berlyn

The second floor holds an atrium that leads directly to the primary suite. The bedroom is like a private oasis that’s replete with two fireplaces for maximum coziness, a spacious wraparound terrace, and dual bathrooms, both of which include a custom center island and walk-in closets.

The resort-style grounds are predictably spacious, with an alfresco dining area and kitchen. The latter includes a grill, a pizza oven, and a beverage center. Steps away, there’s a large swimming pool with lights, so you can swim at night. Throw in a pool house with a bathroom, a washer-dryer, a rain shower, and a wet bar, and you may never want to come inside.

Zedd Spins His Amenity-Packed L.A. Mansion Back on the Market for $19 Million

Now that he’s moved into a lavish Nordic-inspired mansion in Encino that he bought late last year for $18.4 million, Anton Zaslavski—better known to millions of electronic music fans as Zedd—has decided to offload his spare residence in the same San Fernando Valley neighborhood of Los Angeles for a speck under $19 million.

The Russian-German DJ/record producer acquired the two-story, gated home in the posh Royal Oaks enclave from former A-list couple Joe Jonas and Sophie Turner for $15.2 million a little over two years ago, back in September 2021. He then added his own custom touches and upgrades to the white brick and wood-accented structure, which features six bedrooms and 12 baths in almost 15,000 square feet of Jae Omar-designed living space adorned with walls of glass offering seamless indoor/outdoor environs. Glitzy amenities include a “personal wellness retreat” boasting a gym, sauna and massage room, as well as a recording studio and vocal booth, just for starters.

Among the other highlights: a double-height entrance gallery topped by a starburst chandelier and displaying a floating staircase, as well as a formal living room and an office space. A fireside family room connects to a sleekly designed eat-in kitchen outfitted with an eat-in island, top-tier appliances, a walk-in pantry and an accompanying breakfast nook, while a secondary prep kitchen leads to a formal dining room spotlighted by a glass-encased wine display.

Amenities at the modern estate include an authentic British-style pub.

    Simon Berlyn

The creature comforts continue upstairs, where a sumptuous master retreat comes complete with a spacious wraparound terrace, floor-to-ceiling fireplace, not one but two walk-in closets, and a luxe bath equipped with dual vanities, a soaking tub and large shower. Five additional guest bedrooms also can be found on this level, each with its own walk-in closet and bath.

As for the picturesque grounds, they span nearly an acre and hold a putting green, lap pool and spa, fire-pit and an outdoor kitchen, along with an expansive roof deck. There’s also a two-story guesthouse holding an authentic British-style pub and a state-of-the-art Dolby Atmos movie theater, plus a two-bay garage with room for four vehicles out front.

One of the richest DJs in the world with an estimated net worth of $50 million, the Grammy-winning entertainer is known for his collaborations with the likes of Lady Gaga, Selena Gomez, Katy Perry, Alessia Cara, Shawn Mendes, Disclosure and Martin Garrix. The 34-year-old also keeps up a rigorous touring schedule, having just been tapped to perform in Indianapolis Feb. 16 as part of the NBA All-Star Game festivities.

The listing is held by David Kramer and Andrew Buss of Hilton & Hyland/Forbes Global Properties.

The ‘Queen of Versailles’ Is Looking to Flip a Palatial NYC Condo for $19.5 Million

Jackie and David Siegel, stars of the cult-favorite 2012 documentary The Queen of Versailles, are at it again. This time, the opulence-loving real estate power couple has returned to market a swanky New York City penthouse they bought together just last year.

Now asking $19.5 million, the Siegels originally shelled out $8.7 million for the Tribeca duplex, as The New York Post first reported. The palatial pad spans 4,800 square feet and comprises three bedrooms, three bathrooms, two powder rooms, and a sprawling private terrace. The apartment is atop 49 Chambers Street, an iconic Beaux Arts building that was built in 1912 by architect Raymond F. Almirall and once served as the former home of the Emigrant Industrial Savings Bank.

Jackie and David Siegel are aiming to flip their duplex penthouse in Manhattan for $19.5 million.

Evan Joseph Photography for Douglas Elliman

“49 Chambers is one of Downtown’s most recognizable landmarks,” Douglas Elliman agent Kirsten Jordan, who’s representing the property along with colleague Lindsay Coleman, tells Robb Report via email. “The facade is so intricate, and then inside you have this iconic contemporary penthouse with sleek interiors and massive living spaces.”

The home itself has an open floor plan, and Jackie told The Post that they often use the apartment for entertaining. The couple even hosted the cast of the Queen of Versailles Broadway musical starring Kristin Chenoweth at the palatial pad and threw a party for the Victoria’s Voice Foundation, which they founded in 2015.

The kitchen is equipped with SubZero, Gaggenau, Wolf, and Miele appliances.

Evan Joseph Photography for Douglas Elliman

The chef’s kitchen is sleek, clean-lined affair that’s decked out with custom Cypress wood cabinets with the waterfall island, countertops, and backsplash all clad in marble. Elsewhere, the living room opens to an 850-square-foot landscaped terrace with a grill, sink, refrigerator, outdoor speakers, and tons of lush greenery.

Back inside, the primary suite is equipped with custom walk-in closets and an ensuite bathroom that steals the show with double vanities, crowned mirrors, a freestanding soaking tub, and heated floors. “It’s a great apartment with endless square footage, amazing views on three sides, and a private terrace. A palace of a pied-a-terre,” adds Jordan.

Currently, the Sigels are in the midst of finishing their main residence, a 90,000-square-foot behemoth in Orlando, Florida, that has been two decades in the making. Once completed, the Versailles-aspiring mega-mansion will include a 35-car garage, a 150-person dining room, a British-style pub, and a replica of the cabin of a private jet. After several setbacks, including being flooded during Hurricane Ian in 2022, Jackie told the newspaper she’s hoping construction on the mega-manse will finally be finished “around a year from now.” The process was recently featured in the HBOMax series Queen of Versailles Reigns Again.

Nigel Lythgoe Is Buying and Selling L.A. Houses

Nigel Lythoe is swapping homesteads in Los Angeles, having traded in a nearly new Toluca Lake mansion for more seasoned digs in Hollywood Hills that were previously owned through the years by actress Katey Sagal and music director Ricky Minor.

After barely a year of ownership, the 74-year-old British TV producer has listed his former abode and subsequently doled out $4.7 million in an off-market deal for the new place, originally offered at $4.9 million.

The dual real estate transaction sale comes on the heels of Lythgoe’s decision to step down as a judge of the So You Think You Can Dance reality series he co-created in 2005, amid allegations of sexual assault. Through the years, he also has served as an executive producer of the British talent show Pop Idol, as well as American Idol.

The TV producer’s newly acquired Hollywood Hills home was previously occupied by actress Katey Sagal.

    Google Images

Built way back in the late 1930s, but since upgraded, Lythgoe’s newly acquired residence is tucked away behind walls and gates amid a secluded cul-de-sac nestled on an almost third-acre parcel, and offers jetliner views of the Hollywood Sign and Santa Monica mountains. Described as a “traditional country home” in the listing, the Tudor-style structure features four bedrooms and six baths spread across 5,700 square feet of living space boasting high wood-beam ceilings throughout.

An entryway opens into a spacious courtyard bolstered by a bubbling fountain, with interior highlights including a duo of family rooms, as well as a “country-style” kitchen outfitted with a fireplace and an accompanying breakfast nook leading to an al fresco dining space.

Elsewhere is an office, plus a master retreat with a fireside sitting area; and outdoors, the backyard is carved into a hillside, and hosts a sport court and meandering pathways, plus an infinity-edge pool and spa wrapped by a brick terrace. There’s also an attached two-car garage and additional parking for up to six vehicles, as well as a separate two-story guesthouse that has two bedrooms, two baths and its own kitchen.

The listing was held by by Rita Benelian of Keller Williams Hollywood Hills, with Lythgoe represented by Kevin Krakower of Douglas Elliman.

Lythgoe’s Toluca Lake house was completed in 2022.

    Google Images

As for his other L.A. spot that’s currently on the market for a smidge under $5 million, Lythgoe purchased the modern farmhouse for $4.7 million in January 2023, shortly after it was newly designed and built by Arzuman Brothers.

Sited in the unincorporated community of Toluca Lake, the gated grounds span less than a quarter-acre and boast a fountain-clad pool and spa, fireside patio, built-in barbecue and an outdoor shower, along with a two-car garage sporting an EV charger.

Inside, five bedrooms and seven baths can be found in 5,300 square feet of open-concept living space on three levels spotlighted by multiple entertaining areas, including a fully finished basement that comes complete with a movie theater, lounge, gym and guest bedroom.

The listing is held by Kevin Dees and Sebastian Spader of Carolwood Estates. More
