      Fashion Designer Phillip Lim Sends His Manhattan Loft Down the Runway at $8.5 Million

      On the heels of his big return to New York Fashion Week, Phillip Lim is exiting his longtime Manhattan home.

      The designer, who co-founded his eponymous fashion label 3.1 Phillip Lim in 2005, has hoisted his Soho co-op onto the market for a cool $8.5 million, The Wall Street Journal first reported. Of course, if you’re looking for something a little less permanent, Lim’s loft can also be rented for $45,000 per month.

      Nestled within a historic cast-iron building, the sprawling abode is an amalgamation of two apartments. In 2007, when he made the move from California, the designer snapped up the first unit for $2.2 million. A few years later, in 2011, he nabbed the apartment next door for $1.8 million and initially used the extra space as a design studio. Per the WSJ, he later shelled out an additional $3 million to combine the two units into a single 3,500-square-foot spread. 

      Accessed via a private keyed elevator, the home comprises two bedrooms and two and a half baths. There’s a small private terrace off the living room, and, unsurprisingly, there are tons of stylish touches throughout, including white-oak herringbone floors. There’s a hidden wet bar in the dining room, and in the living room, a swing dangles from the ceiling in front of floor-to-ceiling custom bookshelves.

      Included with the sale is a black marble sculpture that Lin designed.

      Lim designed and installed a statement-making black marble sculpture as a divider between a sitting area and a dining room. And the best part is that the massive sculpture is baked into the asking price. Lim told the newspaper that all the furniture inside is also up for grabs, though for an extra fee. 

      The designer and cookbook author is currently looking for another place in the city that he can revamp. In the meantime, he has a home on the bucolic North Fork of Long Island.

      Richard Burton’s Former London Mansion Hits the Market for $9.8 Million

      Richard Burton went from being a humble, stage-trained Welsh actor to an international movie star, and it was while he lived in a handsome house in London’s leafy Hampstead Village that he cemented his status as an Old Hollywood legend. 

      The late performer lived on Lyndhurst Road with his first wife, Sybil Christopher, between 1949 and 1956. The couple originally bought a one-bedroom, ground-floor apartment in the building and eventually purchased the remaining floors following Burton’s success. It was while in residence on Lyndhurst Road that he took on some of his most famous roles, including those in The Desert Rats, The Robe, and Alexander the Great.

      It’s also where he lived when he first met Elizabeth Taylor in 1953. Burton and Taylor would not, however, get to know each other romantically until after they were reacquainted in the early 1960s on the set of the epic period drama Cleopatra. They would later and famously go on to marry—twice.

      Fast-forward to today, and the Victorian residence is now on the market for £7.95 million (or roughly $9.8 million). A blue plaque near the front door commemorates Burton’s time in residency; the historic destination was unveiled in 2011 by fellow Welsh actor Michael Sheen. 

      “This Blue Plaque house is not only notable due to the provenance of its former famous resident, but it also represents a rare opportunity to purchase a magnificent family home situated in the heart of Hampstead and within easy walking distance of Hampstead Heath,” says Mark Pollack, co-founding director of Aston Chase, in a press release.

      The abode, built by architect Henry Davidson, dates back to the 1860s. Altogether, the spread comprises a semi-detached dwelling with six bedrooms plus a separate self-contained two-bedroom garden apartment. 

      There are heaps of original period details throughout, like high ceilings, tall windows, marble fireplaces, and French doors. Other highlights include a top-floor penthouse studio, a 60-foot-long rear garden, and views of St. Paul’s Cathedral from the primary suite.

      “It’s a rare find on one of Hampstead’s most sought-after tree-lined streets,” adds Knight Frank’s Katy Brookes, who’s co-listing the home.

      Olivia Wilde Has Quietly Sold Her Charming Hacienda on L.A.’s Eastside

      During their nearly decade-long relationship, Olivia Wilde and Jason Sudeikis accumulated a small portfolio of impressive homes, including a mansion-sized townhouse in Brooklyn and a renovated Spanish hacienda in L.A.’s Silver Lake neighborhood.

      Property records indicate those real estate trophies were divided up following the demise of the two actors’ coupledom, with the Brooklyn townhouse going to Sudeikis and the Silver Lake property being transferred to Wilde’s sole control. And given that Wilde recently bought a multimillion-dollar new home in Studio City, it’s probably no surprise that the “Don’t Worry Darling” director has quietly sold the Silver Lake house. Though it was never on the market, records show the stylish place sold for $4.2 million to a non-famous entertainment attorney and his wife.

      Back in 2019, Wilde and Sudeikis paid $3.5 million for the 1928-built Spanish-style home, which directly overlooks the Silver Lake Reservoir. Originally designed by Frankie Faulkner, one of L.A.’s first female architects, the approximately 2,800 sq. ft. structure was completely remodeled in 2016 by noted design firm DISC Interiors. While the exterior remains period-correct, the home’s innards now sport a far more contemporary and neutral palette, all while retaining many original architectural details — arched doors, casement windows and a beamed barrel ceiling in the living room.

      Set on a 0.13-acre lot, the hillside property features a two-car garage and plenty of additional street parking.  The low-maintenance yard is landscaped with native and drought-tolerant plantings — olive trees and various species of cacti, along with a petite patch of grassy lawn and a saltwater swimming pool in the backyard.

      Indoors, a spacious living room includes an original fireplace and the aforementioned barrel-vaulted ceiling. The sleek eat-in kitchen opens to the dining area and features custom cabinetry, limestone countertops, plus a mixture of vintage and high-end appliances.

      Though the Wilde-Sudeikis home appears to be single-story from the streetfront, it drops down mullet-style to three full separate levels out back.       ‘Avatar’ Actress Zoe Saldana Is Seeking $16 Million for Her Beverly Hills Home

      After a little more than seven years of ownership, Zoe Saldana has put her traditional tennis court property in Beverly Hills up for sale. As first reported by The Wall Street Journal, the veteran film actress—probably best known for her roles in Star Trek, Avatar and Guardians of the Galaxy—is asking $16.5 million for the place she picked up from model/entrepreneur Kimora Lee Simmons for $8.7 million back in spring 2016.

      Tucked away on a gated and hedged parcel spanning over a half-acre, in the guarded Hidden Valley Estates community where other residences include Adele, Jennifer Lawrence, Nicole Kidman and Penelope Cruz, the three-story structure was originally built in 1974. Since remodeled, it features five bedrooms and seven baths in 6,400 square feet of living space boasting hardwood floors, imported polished stone finishes and designer lighting throughout.

      Steps pass through a manicured yard before emptying out at a columned front porch and yellow-hued door, which opens into a double-height entry foyer displaying a curving staircase. From there, highlights include a formal dining room surrounded by wainscoted walls, fireside living room adorned with steel-and-glass cabinetry and wood-clad family room, plus a bespoke kitchen outfitted with an eat-in island, top-tier appliances and a separate breakfast room.

      This $8.1 Million Riverfront Mansion in the UK Has Ties to a British TV Host

      Charles Allsopp, a former Christie’s chairman and father of British TV presenter Kirstie Allsopp, is moving on from his longtime English country home. 

      The 6th Baron Hindlip set his sights upon the mid-19th-century farmhouse in Dorset nearly 25 years ago. Known today as Lyddon House, Lord Hinlip lived at the riverfront residence alongside his late interior designer wife, Fiona. Speaking to the Daily Mail, their daughter, Kirstie, recalled what initially drew her parents to the property. “They always wanted a house with water, and when Lyddon House came on the market, they jumped at the chance to buy it,” the Love It or List It UK co-host told the British newspaper. Kirstie also hosts several other reality programs, including Channel 4’s Location, Location, Location. 

      Kirstie Allsopp’s father, Charles Allsopp, is selling his longtime English country house in Dorset.

      Today, the comprehensively restored and updated spread is listed with Knight Frank for £6.5 million, or roughly $8 million. It occupies 48 tranquil acres along the River Lyddon and is considered one of Dorset’s finest country houses.       Halsey Buys a Spanish Colonial Revival Classic in Los Angeles

      You could say Halsey is on a real estate roll. Three months ago, the “Without Me” singer sold her lavish estate near Calabasas for nearly $12 million; almost immediately following that, she paid $700,000 over the asking price for a gem of a house in Laurel Canyon. Now she’s done it again — dropping an impressive $5 million on an impeccably restored Spanish Colonial Revival house in Los Feliz.

      Located almost directly across the street from one of the most popular Griffith Park entrance points, the house was built in the late 1920s for restaurateur and civic reformer Clifford Clinton and designed by architect Arthur W. Larson. In 2011, the longtime Clinton family was awarded Los Angeles Historic-Cultural Monument status.

      Although it’s located on a very busy roadway, the nearly 6,000-square-foot house sits behind tall fences and stucco-clad walls.       Back in spring 2020, Michael Mendelsohn doled out $1.7 million for an early 1900s residence in Los Angeles. He then took it down to the studs, and spent the next three years completely remodeling and expanding the place.

      Mary Tyler Moore’s Bucolic Connecticut Retreat Could Be Yours for $22 Million

      If you’ve always wanted to turn the world on with a smile, this Connecticut compound could be just the ticket! As first reported by The Wall Street Journal, the picturesque 7-acre spread long owned by the late TV and film actress Mary Tyler Moore has just popped up for sale in the coastal town of Greenwich, asking nearly $22 million.

      Records show the beloved star of The Mary Tyler Moore Show and her husband, Dr. S. Robert Levine, paid around $10 million back in 2006 for the property, which is showcased by a Georgian Colonial-style house boasting five bedrooms and nine baths in nearly 14,000 square feet of living space accented throughout with dentil molding, bay windows, Venetian plaster walls, wood-beam ceilings and numerous fireplaces. There’s also a guest apartment resting atop an attached three-car garage.

      Built over a century ago, but extensively renovated and expanded during the couple’s tenure in collaboration with architect Stephen Wang, the fieldstone-clad structure features an elevator to all three levels, a double-height solarium, laundry room sporting a dog shower and grooming station, and gym equipped with a spa, sauna, and massage and steam rooms.

      Some of the solarium’s windows include stained glass culled from churches and synagogues.

      Other highlights include an entry foyer displaying harlequin-patterned floors, a curving staircase and wall of windows, as well as formal living and dining rooms, an office with its own powder room and a wood-paneled billiard room/library outfitted with built-in bookcases.       Secluded in its own upstairs wing is a 2,000-square-foot master retreat complete with dual walk-in closets and luxe baths; and outdoors, the Janice Parker-landscaped grounds are laced with stone terraces and bordered by 5 acres of conservation land, and host a pond and 65-foot pool flanked by a fireplace.

      According to WSJ, Levine is selling because it’s necessary for him to move on after the death of his wife, who passed away in 2017 at age 80. “If I’m going to step into my ‘what next?’,” he said, “I decided I have to step away from the house.” The retired cardiologist also told the news outlet that a portion of the proceeds from the sale will go to the Mary Tyler Moore Vision Initiative, a foundation that works to preserve and restore vision in people with diabetes.

      The listing is held by Joseph Barbieri of Sotheby’s International Realty-Greenwich Brokerage.
