      NBA Star Rui Hachimura Nets an All-New Los Angeles Farmhouse

      Riding high off a recently inked three-year, $51 million deal with the Los Angeles Lakers, Rui Hachimura has invested some of that cash into a modern farmhouse-style residence in a prime section of Encino.

      Originally listed for a speck under $7.5 million, records show the all-new property went for a discounted $7.2 million to the history-making forward—the first-ever Japanese-born player selected in the first round of the NBA Draft, taken with the No. 9 overall pick by the Washington Wizards in 2019.

      Completed this year, the two-story home features six bedrooms and seven baths spread across almost 7,350 square feet of living space adorned throughout with brushed natural stone, carbon cold-rolled steel, white oak, Douglas fir, Ceppo di Gré limestone, gunmetal finishes and reeded glass. Glass doors offer seamless indoor-outdoor environs, and amenities include a movie theater and gym.

      Hachimura’s recently acquired residence sits at the end of a cul-de-sac, amid a walled and gated parcel spanning a third of an acre, with a driveway tucked off to the side of the two-tone gray and charcoal structure emptying out at an attached three-car garage boasting sleek black doors. From there, the front door opens into an entry hallway that flows to an office with built-in shelving on one side and a living room that spills out to an enclosed patio sporting a fire-pit on the other.

      Additional main-level highlights include a wet bar-equipped dining room and spacious family room anchored by a floor-to-ceiling fireplace, plus access to not one but two outdoor spaces that are ideal for al fresco lounging and entertaining. An adjoining gourmet kitchen is outfitted with two islands, top-tier appliances and a butler’s pantry.

      A floating glass staircase heads upstairs, where a fireside master retreat comes complete with a balcony, walk-in closet, and spa-inspired bath decked out with dual vanities, a soaking tub and an oversized double shower; and outdoors, the private backyard is laced with olive and Italian cypress trees, and hosts a pool and spa flanked by a sundeck, kitchen and barbecue setup, and fireside lounge area. There’s also a fully permitted accessory dwelling unit with its own kitchenette and living area.

      The 25-year-old native of Toyama, Japan, was traded to the Lakers in early 2023. Previously a restricted free agent, the forward’s current contract with the team earns him an average annual salary of around $17 million. He’s also known for having appeared on the hit Tokyo reality show Terrace House.

      Dodgers Star Mookie Betts Scores a $15 Million Estate in the L.A. Hills

      Mookie Betts is once again up to bat in Los Angeles, and his legendary swing just connected with a home-run worthy real estate deal. Records reveal the Dodgers outfielder and all-around MLB superstar has dropped $15 million on an huge estate tucked into the Encino hills, overlooking L.A.’s San Fernando Valley.

      It’s among the biggest deals ever recorded in Encino, a once-sleepy SoCal suburb that is now über-affluent and swarmed with celebrities of all sorts, from Oscar-nominated actors and famed musicians to YouTubers and Real Housewives. And it’s perhaps the biggest area deal ever for a home that’s not all-new construction—built in 1986, the roughly 9,300 square foot structure began life as a Mediterranean villa-style mansion.

      Last year, local developer Jeff Huberts of Sandlot Homes and his team acquired the property for about $6.8 million and subsequently gave the entire house a thorough and thoroughly contemporary remodel. Unfortunately, since the property was never on the market and is still in the final stages of construction, there are no public photos of the premises. What little we know about the place mostly comes via tax records and L.A. permit archives: there are eight bedrooms, 10.5 bathrooms, a three-car garage, and the tri-level structure sports big views of the valley from its perch in the hills, near the end of a secluded cul-de-sac.

      Originally built in 1986, the house underwent a dramatic contemporary renovation this year and is still in the final stages of construction.

      Tucked securely behind gates and a very long driveway, the luxury property also offers about 2.2 acres of land, though a substantial portion of that is steeply sloped and therefore unusable. There’s also a newly remodeled rectangular swimming pool, an outdoor spa and a full-size tennis court. And at the very base of the property, immediately adjoining the driveway gate, there’s even a guardshack for a full-time armed bodyguard. Sadly, however, most of the main mansion’s interior amenities remain a mystery.

      Betts is not new to the Encino area—he still owns a slightly smaller house elsewhere in the area, which he put up for sale nearly a year ago for $10 million. That “starter” estate has not yet sold, though the price tag has since been slashed to $8.5 million; Betts bought it in fall 2020 for $7.6 million from UCLA Bruins head coach Chip Kelly, and has since added some very custom upgrades worthy of a six-time Gold Glove winner, including an indoor basketball court branded with “MB” initials.

      Born and raised in Nashville, Betts is reportedly a distant cousin of Meghan Markle. The 31-year-old and wife Brianna Hammonds have lived primarily in Los Angeles since summer 2020, when he signed a $365 million contract extension with the Dodgers. More

      Dodgers Star Mookie Betts Relists Tricked-Out L.A. Compound at a Discounted $8.5 Million

      Mookie Betts is doubling down on his efforts to unload the Los Angeles residence he’s owned since 2020. After eight months on the market with no takers, the Dodgers right fielder and six-time Golden Glove winner has relisted his swanky estate in the San Fernando Valley community of Encino for a smidge under $8.5 million—or $1.5 million less than he was originally asking for the place in February.

      Records show Betts paid UCLA Bruins head coach Chip Kelly $7.6 million for the property back in fall 2020, around the same time he helped his team capture its first World Series title in over three decades. Since upgraded with some particularly custom touches, the 2018-built spec home has nine bedrooms and 10 baths in a little more than 9,400 square feet of living space boasting white oak hardwood floors, high ceilings and oversized windows throughout.

      Resting amid a walled and gated parcel spanning over a half-acre of land, the modern farmhouse-style structure is fronted by a circular driveway. A pair of attached two-car garages flank the front door, which opens into a soaring entry foyer topped by a designer light fixture and displaying a curving staircase.

      From there, highlights include formal living and dining rooms, along with a fireside family room that connects to a gourmet kitchen outfitted with upscale Wolf and Sub-Zero appliances, a large walk-in pantry and an accompanying breakfast nook; and elsewhere are a movie theater, sauna, temperature-controlled wine cellar, and luxe upstairs master retreat sporting a fireplace, sitting area, private balcony, and dual closets and baths.

      Especially standing out is a personalized indoor basketball court.

      Outdoors, the resort-like grounds host a bar and kitchen setup ideal for al fresco entertaining, as well as a zero-edge pool flaunting a spa and sunken fire-pit-equipped lounge, an open-air cabana, a putting green and an additional freestanding fire-pit surrounded by built-in seating. There’s also an air-conditioned building that houses a gym and blue-hued basketball court emblazoned with the initials “MB,” plus a two-bedroom guesthouse with its own kitchen and fireside living room.

      Nashville-born Betts, 31, has played professional baseball since 2014, launching his career with the Boston Red Sox. He was traded to the Dodgers in 2020, and subsequently inked a $365 million contract extension that will keep him with the Boys in Blue through the 2032 season.

      You can’t swing a cat on a tree-lined street in one of the more coveted zip codes across Los Angeles without running into a lavishly appointed home that has been owned or rented by a showbiz mover and shaker. And, in upscale Encino, the semi-suburban San Fernando Valley enclave long popular with celebs, a gated mansion listed at $6.4 million has been home to many.

      Now owned by Canadian recording artist and real estate investor Betty Moon, who acquired the property with her late husband almost a decade ago for $3.54 million, according to tax records, the popular-with-famous-folks home has at various times been occupied by Lebron James, Cardi B, Megan Fox, and Machine Gun Kelly. It has also been featured in films and TV shows that include “Lethal Weapon” and “NCIS: Los Angeles.”

      Originally built in 1960 and substantially updated and upgraded since, the Mediterranean-inspired residence sits on more than half an acre of landscaped grounds. Beyond the fancifully curlicued iron gates and driveway that circles up around a three-tiered fountain, the home’s many living and entertaining spaces include a double-height fireside sitting room and a double-height formal dining room. 

      In the family room, with a built-in media center and a wet bar, glass doors lead to the backyard, and in the eat-in kitchen, there are up-to-date stainless-steel appliances and a huge island with an integrated snack bar. Elsewhere are a card/billiards room, a 12-seat home theater, a library/office, and a gym.

      Among the spacious bedrooms are an expansive primary suite replete with a double-sided fireplace between the sitting room and bedroom, a fitted walk-in closet, and an oversized marble bathroom with a built-in armoire for bath linens and toiletries.

      The ample grounds, which include more than 40 fruit trees of various types, provide all the bells and whistles. In the terraced backyard, alongside the swimming pool and spillover spa, there’s an awning shaded outdoor kitchen and bar. On an upper terrace, an open-air pavilion is enshrouded in lush greenery and flowering plants, and on the uppermost terrace—pickleball aficionados take note—there’s a sports court bordered by a stone balustrade.

      Moon’s southern California properties include multimillion-dollar homes in Pacific Palisades, Beverly Hills, and Malibu. According to the New York Post, she owns Cary Grant’s former home in Holmby Hills, which she recently rented out for $35,000 a month, and Isaac Tigrett, the co-founder of the Hard Rock Café and House of Blues franchises, is renting one of her Malibu properties.
