      Action Star Frank Grillo Is Selling His Lavish Hollywood Hills Mansion for $9 Million

      Frank Grillo may be a born-and-bred New Yorker, but the experienced martial artist, clothing entrepreneur and prolific actor (The Purge film series, the 2022 biopic Lamborghini: The Man Behind the Legend, Brock Rumlow in Avengers: Endgame and Captain America) has been leading a ritzy Los Angeles lifestyle in recent years. In October 2022, Grillo bought a very chic mansion in the hills above Hollywood; that elegant spread has just popped back up for sale, asking a hair under $9 million.

      Secluded within the deepest reaches of a verdant and secluded canyon, the ultra-contemporary residence features a strikingly monochromatic color scheme and minimalist finishes. Built new in 2019, the house was first offered with an optimistic asking price of nearly $13 million, but lingered on the market for more than three years. After multiple realtor changes and price chops, Grillo finally snagged the cool digs at a bargain-basement $6.6 million price, a nearly 50% discount off the original sticker.

      Set near the deepest part of a semi-remote canyon in the Hollywood Hills, the tri-level house is built into the side of steep hill.

      There’s a very long driveway that gently ascends to a motorcourt fronting a three-car garage. Invisible from the street behind layers of mature trees and tall hedges, the home’s entryway offers a vaulted ceiling and abundant white oak, design features that carry on throughout the rest of the house. The light-flooded indoor/outdoor living room, complete with disappearing walls of glass and clerestory windows, is quintessentially California and is serviced by a Euro-chic kitchen with quartz countertops and premium appliances.

      Five bedrooms are sprawled throughout 8,000 square feet of living space, each with their own trendy bathroom. But by far the most eye-catching is the sumptuous primary suite, which flaunts a bathroom with open showers and floor-to-ceiling walls of glass and an ultra-minimalist closet/dressing room.

      The home features clean-lined and contemporary interiors, including a sleekly minimal kitchen with Euro-chic cabinetry.

      Other estate amenities include tall hedges and tropical plantings that amp up the home’s feeling of seclusion. Out back, a plunge pool has a Baja shelf for sunbathing and inset spa; back inside the house are a movie theater and gym for further relaxation. There’s also a wraparound sundeck with a full built-in barbecue center and kitchen, ideal for al fresco entertaining.

      Seven years ago, Grillo and his ex-wife Wendy Moniz reportedly paid $4.5 million for a smaller contemporary home in Pacific Palisades. While records show they continue to jointly own that property, the house itself is now occupied exclusively by Moniz.

      Extreme Guitarist Nuno Bettencourt Sells His L.A. House for Nearly $4 Million

      Four months after Nuno Bettencourt hoisted his longtime residence atop the Beachwood Canyon neighborhood of Los Angeles on the market for just under $4 million, the veteran Portuguese-American musician has officially handed the keys over to a new owner.

      Records show the 57-year-old lead guitarist of the iconic Boston rock band Extreme—who also regularly tours with pop superstar Rihanna—has sold the contemporary spread to a non-famous buyer for $3.7 million. Though that’s around $200,000 less than Bettencourt originally wanted, it’s still a healthy $1.6 million more than he paid for the place a little over a decade ago, back in spring 2013.

      Resting amid a hillside parcel spanning roughly one-third of an acre, and fronted by a trio of glassy side-by-side garage bays, the multi-level gray stucco structure was built in the early 1990s and has since been updated. Inside, five bedrooms and six baths are spread across a little more than 5,500 square feet of open-plan living space accented with rustic hardwood floors, vaulted ceilings, skylights and an elevator, as well as picturesque views of the Downtown L.A. skyline, Griffith Observatory, Hollywood Sign, Lake Hollywood and Pacific Ocean beyond.

      Highlights include a double-height living room sporting a wood-encased fireplace, seated wet bar and sliding glass doors spilling outside. There’s also an office space, a cozy den and formal dining room, plus a gourmet kitchen furnished with an eat-in island, top-tier stainless appliances and an accompanying breakfast nook.

      Elsewhere is a primary bedroom adorned with a sitting area, private balcony, walk-in closet and dressing area, along with a stylish bath that has a soaking tub, separate shower and sauna; and topping it all off are the show-stealing grounds, which host an upper deck holding a pool and spa flanked by a sundeck and an open-air cabana. A guesthouse that previously served as a recording studio can also be found on the premises.

      Extreme achieved its greatest success with the 1990 album Pornograffitti, which peaked at No. 10 on the Billboard 200 and went on to earn a double-platinum certification. The album featured the hit singles Hole Hearted and More than Words, the latter of which remains one of the most popular rock songs of all time with more than a half-billion streams and upwards of 633 million YouTube views.

      The group recently released its first studio album since 2008; Six was recorded at Bettencourt’s home studio and landed at No. 10 on Billboard’s Top Album Sales chart, with 12,500 copies sold during the first week.

      The ‘Saw’ Franchise Creator Is Cutting Out of His $4.7 Million Hollywood Hills Home

      James Wan is best known for directing the Saw and The Conjuring horror film mega-franchises, and more recently the non-spooky blockbuster hit Aquaman, but it appears the prolific Malaysian-born filmmaker is angling for a different role in his latest venture: real estate seller. Wan is currently seeking a buyer able to pony up $4.7 million for his revamped midcentury modern in the hills above West Hollywood, tucked away near the top of the Doheny Estates neighborhood and abutting the much better-known Bird Streets enclave.

      Records indicate Wan bought the house way back in 2007, paying $3.2 million; for much of the past 10 years, the property has been leased out. The relatively petite structure packs three bedrooms and four bathrooms into 2,951 square feet of living space. Constructed in 1960, the single-story house has since been thoroughly modernized and privatized, shielded from public view by gates and tall hedges. Covered in neutral tan stucco that’s been paired with brown accent trim and a gray shingled roof, the place boasts a long, wide driveway leading to a two-car garage for convenient off-street parking

      Charlize Theron is lightening her real estate load once again, having chosen to relinquish ownership of one of her Los Angeles properties. Records show the veteran actress—who also owns three other homes in the Southern California area—has stuck a nearly $3.8 million price tag on a Spanish-style residence tucked away in a particularly celeb-packed pocket of the Hollywood Hills.

      Purchased by Theron for exactly $3 million almost two decades ago—a few months after she won a 2004 “Best Actress” Oscar for her portrayal of real-life serial killer Aileen Wuornos in Monster—the house is described in the listing as “truly exceptional and exciting.” Built in the late 1960s and updated through the years, the modern digs feature three bedrooms and four baths in just over 3,100 square feet of two-level living space boasting hardwood floors and soaring wood-beam ceilings throughout, plus sweeping valley and mountain views from every vantage point.

      Hidden down a lengthy semi-private drive off Mulholland Drive, atop a gated promontory parcel spanning a little over an acre, the white stucco and terra-cotta-roof structure is fronted by a motorcourt and an attached two-car garage. Once inside, highlights include a fireside living room, dining area and family room sitting adjacent to an eat-in kitchen outfitted with high-end stainless appliances.

      Originally built in the early 1970s—and occupied for two years before Middleditch’s tenure by married Tinseltown stars Claire Forlani and Dougray Scott—the Spanish-style premises have been renovated through the years, and include three bedrooms and two baths in roughly 3,000 square feet of living space. There’s also a separate one-bedroom guest cottage with a steam shower-equipped bath, plus an attached two-car garage.

      Tucked away on a clifftop parcel of land spanning just over a third of an acre, high above Mulholland Drive, the main house is introduced via decorative arches spanning the entire front of the terracotta roof and stucco structure. A wide set of steps leads to the double front doors, which open into single-level interiors boasting French doors overlooking the pool and entertainment areas.

      In addition to living and dining areas, a family room is spotlighted by a vaulted ceiling, an exposed brick wall and a massive fireplace. The 74-year-old Queen drummer and backup vocalist has put the alluring Hollywood Hills home he picked up for a mere $352,000 way back in the early 1980s up for sale, asking just shy of $6.2 million.

      Tucked away behind a gated driveway and high hedges, amid one-third acres of land, the white stucco and brick-accented structure is topped by a terra-cotta roof, and has a motorcourt flanked by an attached two-car garage out front. Once inside, four bedrooms and five baths are filtered across a little more than 4,300 square feet of two-level living space that’s been “remarkably restored and lovingly maintained,” per the listing held by Greg Holcomb and Tim Durkovic of Douglas Elliman.

      A hand-carved wood door leads into an impressive entry foyer displaying a curving mosaic-lined staircase, which flows to a formal living room boasting a vaulted ceiling, black marble fireplace, and two sets of French doors spilling out to a brick terrace holding an al fresco dining area and a fire-pit. From there, a “lodge-like” den comes complete with a particularly eye-catching stone fireplace and wine closet, while a dining room sporting built-in shelving adjoins an all-white kitchen outfitted with an eat-in island and high-end appliances.

      ‘The Good Place’ Star Jameela Jamil Seeks $7.2 Million for Her Hollywood Hills Mansion

      Scarcely one year ago, Hollywood actress Jameela Jamil and her longtime partner James Blake dropped an impressive $6.4 million to buy a hulking mansion sited atop L.A.’s famed Mulholland Drive, directly overlooking the entirety of Hollywood.

      The English couple—she famous for her roles in films and TV show projects such as “The Good Place,” “She-Hulk: Attorney at Law,” and most recently, “Pitch Perfect: Bumper in Berlin,” he a Grammy-winning musician—are already moving on from their still-relatively-new Hollywood Hills home, having flipped the place back up for sale with a $7.2 million ask.       Clinging precariously to the side of a nearly sheer cliff, the house appears to be a relatively humble, single-story structure from the street, but it drops down mullet-style to four full levels out back, encompassing a nearly 7,000 square feet of mansion-sized living space. There are a total five bedrooms and 6.5 bathrooms on tap, per tax records.

      Built in the late ’80s and styled as a Mediterranean-style villa, the hillside home was recently given a contemporary renovation.

      Originally built in 1989, the home’s dated architecture was given a thorough contemporary makeover by Dalinger Designs just prior to Jamil and Blake’s purchase.       Rufus Wainwright’s L.A. Home Hits the Market for $2.2 Million

      Canadian singer-songwriter Rufus Wainwright has put his Los Angeles home of almost a decade on the market, and yes, there are yellow walls, and they are in fact lined with portraits.

      The Grammy-nominated musician is officially parting ways with his Laurel Canyon abode that he bought together with his husband, Jörn Weisbrodt, back in 2016. At the time, the couple paid $1.45 million for the for the storybook-style cottage and are now asking for a cool $2.2 million. Wainwright, who released his newest album, Folkocracy, in June 2023, announced the news in a post on his Instagram page.

      “The time has come…Jörn and I are listing our gorgeous Laurel Canyon home,” the crooner wrote in the caption. “We have lived in this house since 2016. I wrote ‘Unfollow The Rules’ here, including one of my favorite pieces ‘Peaceful Afternoon.’ We have had many of those here and I hope that the next tenants enjoy it as much as we did.”

      Originally built in 1926, the whimsical spread contains three bedrooms and four bathrooms. The quirky residence is decked out with tons of enchanting original elements, including dramatic wood-beamed cathedral ceilings, charming stained-glass windows, and a cozy fireplace clad in vintage tiles. One of the standout spaces is the super cool octagon-shaped library, which is complete with floor-to-ceiling bookshelves. Elsewhere, you’ll find a bright yellow formal dining room with diamond-paned picture windows, several balconies, and a sky-blue family kitchen with a built-in breakfast nook. The outdoor spaces feel even more fairytale-like. The grounds are dotted with trees and include an alfresco dining area, a patio, a pond, and what the listing refers to as a “lovers bridge.”

      According to Dag Eliason of the Agency, who’s representing the property with colleague Alexandre Anu, Wainwright’s absence in the local community will not go unnoticed. The broker told Mansion Global that on warm summer nights, his neighbors could recall hearing piano playing coming from the terrace. “It’s a very inspirational house,” Anu said. “For Rufus, as a songwriter, he wanted a place he could pull inspiration from.”

      However, the “Poses” singer reassured his followers that he wouldn’t be going far. “Of course, Viva, Siegfried, Jörn, and I will stay in LA,” Wainwright explained on social media, noting that his 12-year-old daughter and his dog would be coming with him. “We love living in this city and exploring a new area.”
