L.A. Reid Relists His Swanky Bel Air Mansion for a Discounted $17.5 Million

Antonio “L.A.” Reid first hoisted his ultra-contemporary Bel Air mansion on the market back in 2019 for nearly $23 million. Six years and several price chops later, the Grammy-winning record producer behind top-tier talents like Usher, Rihanna, and Justin Bieber still hasn’t enticed any takers and has decided to try his hand at offloading the place once again, this time with a slimmed-down $17.5 million ask. Selling Sunset stars Jason and Brett Oppenheim of The Oppenheim Group hold the listing.

Records show the music industry veteran acquired the hillside residence in 2016 for $18 million shortly after it was built and then embarked upon a bespoke tailoring of the premises to suit his personal tastes. Completed in 2015, the gated estate rests on just over an acre of land atop a promontory above Stone Canyon Reservoir and comes complete with floor-to-ceiling walls of glass providing sweeping city lights views.

The great room has a double-sided fireplace and automated retractable glass walls spilling out to the backyard.

Standing three stories tall, the stucco and stone-accented structure boasts a total of seven bedrooms and 10 baths spread across roughly 11,100 square feet of open-concept living space. Glitzy amenities include an elevator, numerous fireplaces, a gym, a private studio, a glassy 300-bottle wine cellar, and a crimson-hued movie theater with an accompanying wet bar.

A gated driveway lined with towering Ficus trees fronts the home, which has an eye-catching door that opens into a double-height foyer topped with a striking wind chime-like chandelier. Grand-scale rooms throughout are punctuated by a mix of stone and white oak floors, soaring ceilings, black granite walls, and chrome accents.

Particularly standing out on the main level is a spacious great room divided by a massive two-way fireplace. There’s also a fireside office/library with built-in bookshelves and cabinetry, along with a formal dining room and sleekly designed kitchen outfitted with custom cabinetry, dual islands, and top-tier appliances.

A sculptural staircase heads upstairs to the primary suite, which is decked out with yet another fireplace, a balcony, and a spa-inspired bath equipped with a soaking tub, a glass-encased shower, and a sauna. Four additional en suite bedrooms can also be found on the top floor, while two more bedrooms hold court on the lower level.

As for the grounds, they host an infinity pool flanked by a sundeck and a grassy lawn that flows to a separate raised spa and a fire pit, as well as an entertainment area sporting a kitchen and bar. Rounding it all out: a subterranean garage that can accommodate up to four vehicles.

Michael Douglas and Catherine Zeta-Jones’s Former L.A. Condo Hits the Market for $7 Million

You might not have been fortunate enough to snag their picturesque 12-acre estate in New York that was recently up for grabs, complete with 130 feet of waterfront footage on the Hudson River. But now’s your chance to pick up Michael Douglas and Catherine Zeta-Jones’s former Los Angeles condo at the iconic I.M. Pei-designed Century Towers residential complex on the Avenue of the Stars; that is, of course, if you have a few million dollars burning a hole in your proverbial pocket.

After more than a decade of ownership, current owner Judy Glickman Lauder is looking to hand over the keys to the celeb-pedigreed pad for a smidge under $7 million. Records show the Hollywood power couple bought a pair of adjacent condos in separate transactions in the late 1990s and subsequently combined the corner units before selling the whole kit and caboodle to the photographer and her late husband Leonard Lauder, the billionaire son of beauty mogul Estée Lauder, in 2003 for $1.85 million.

A wall of glass in the living room opens out to a terrace overlooking the Hillcrest golf course.

Resting on the 23rd floor in one of two identical 28-story high-rises—which have been home through the years to showbiz movers and shakers such as Lana Turner, Diana Ross, Berry Gordy, Burt Lancaster, and Karen Carpenter—the three-bedroom, three-bath abode features roughly 2,600 square feet of Lauder-furnished living space boasting dark cabinetry paired with multi-colored slate walls and floors, plus large expanses of glass offering sweeping views of the city skyline and Hillcrest Country Club golf course.

Among the highlights is a spacious peach-hued living area sporting floor-to-ceiling sliding glass doors spilling open to an alfresco dining terrace. There’s also a wet bar-equipped dining room, a laundry nook, and a kitchen outfitted with a breakfast bar and premium stainless appliances. Other amenities include a family room with a built-in entertainment center, along with a spacious primary retreat flaunting a slate-tiled bath spotlighted by a freestanding clawfoot soaking tub.

The slate-clad primary bath comes with a clawfoot soaking tub and walk-in shower.

Topping it all off are plenty of building amenities courtesy of a $4,262 monthly HOA charge, including a 24-hour guard-gated entry, a concierge, valet parking, a fitness center and sauna, a full-length lap pool, a putting green, and tennis courts.

“A living piece of Hollywood history, this home still reflects the timeless taste and style of its original celebrity owners…down to the last detail,” says Alphonso Lascano, who holds the listing with Bjorn Farrugia, both of Carolwood Estates.

The Longtime L.A. Home of ‘Sleepless in Seattle’ Producer Lynda Obst Lists for $2.6 Million

Sleepless in Seattle? More like sweet dreams in L.A.

The longtime home of the late producer Lynda Obst—who worked on the Nora Ephron classic, along with films such as How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days, Interstellar, and Contact—has hit the market for $2.6 million. Obst purchased the Silver Lake property back in 2002 for $822,000, according to property records, and she owned the place until her death in October. Heather T. Roy and Learka Bosnak, known professionally as Heather & Learka, hold the listing at Douglas Elliman.

The living room has one of three fireplaces found in the circa 1940 home.

    Anthony Barcelo

Dating back to 1940, the home was built by the architect Harry Hayden Whiteley for Edwin S. Rice, the co-founder of the Krispy Kake Cone Company. Art Deco influences like the curvature inside have been retained, while otherwise the house has been updated with modern, colorful touches and appliances. Standouts include a bright-pink door, red railing along the winding stone staircase, and a floral inset window in the living room.

Altogether, the Moreno Highlands property encompasses four bedrooms and three and a half bathrooms. Upstairs bedrooms have access to one of the multiple sun decks, while another bedroom skews from the overall design palette—it’s completely paneled in tongue and groove pine paneling, imbuing the space with a woodsy, cabin-like feel. Elsewhere, you’ll find a cozy study and three fireplaces.

One of the bedrooms bucks the overall design trends for a cabin-like vibe.

    Anthony Barcelo

Outside, the yard has been landscaped to a T, and there’s even a small greenhouse for those who want to flex their green thumb. Depending on the weather, you can take a dip in either the hot tub or the cold plunge. Or you can simply enjoy the outdoor seating and take in the views of the San Gabriel Mountains in the distance—when they were covered with snow in the winter, Obst would call them “the Silve Lake Alps.”

Obst was originally born in the suburbs of New York City, but she eventually moved to Los Angeles with her then-husband and began working in the film industry. Throughout her career, she was known as a champion of women, with many of her films focusing on female-led stories. Along with her Silver Lake home, she owned a ranch in Fredericksburg, Texas, that was her “happy place,” according to The New York Times. She died in October at the age of 74 from chronic obstructive pulmonary disease.

A Pair of Hollywood Insiders Just Listed Their Kaleidoscopic L.A. Home for $5.7 Million

This vividly hued Los Angeles residence has hosted its fair share of fancy shindigs overflowing with celebrity guests, all courtesy of longtime owners Brian Loucks and Cedering Fox‘s popular music and literary salons. Now the endearingly eclectic midcentury-modern gem has surfaced on the market for the first time in almost three decades, asking a smidge under $5.7 million.

The couple—he a veteran music agent for Creative Artists Agency, and she probably best known as a live announcer for the Oscars—purchased the 1950s home in fall 1997 for a mere $735,000 and then remodeled the place with “an exceptional fusion of artistic vision and impeccable design,” per the listing held by Alexandra Pfeifer of Sotheby’s International Realty-Pacific Palisades Brokerage. Before that, the house was originally owned by the late William Roberts, creator of The Donna Reed Show and a screenwriter for The Magnificent Seven.

The yellow kitchen has a breakfast nook that spills onto to a terrace.

Todd Goodman for Sotheby’s International Realty

Tucked away at the end of a secluded cul-de-sac on nearly a half-acre parcel in Studio City‘s Fryman Canyon neighborhood—the same area George Clooney sold his compound last year for $14.5 million to Olivia Culpo and Christian McCaffrey—the two-story structure offers five bedrooms and four baths in roughly 3,700 square feet of living space boasting brilliant pops of color and lively patterns throughout.

Especially standing out is the bright green living/piano room, where the pair has staged their live “Living Room Series” and “WordTheatre” events with top names in music, film, and TV—Keith Urban, Florence & the Machine, the Zac Brown Band, Tim McGraw, Sharon Stone, Bill Pullman, the cast of Grey’s Anatomy, Carrie Underwood, John Legend, H.E.R., and John Mayer, to name a few.

The landscaped grounds are spotlighted by a blue-tiled swimming pool that lights up at night.

An adjacent dining area is spotlighted by a custom wet bar hidden behind closet doors, while the yellow kitchen has stainless appliances and a breakfast nook with sliding glass doors leading out to an alfresco dining terrace. Elsewhere is a bookshelf-lined den/library that comes with large picture windows overlooking a sculpture garden and canyon views.

Not to be left out is an upstairs primary suite with an office niche, plus a gym and a cherry red laundry room. Then there’s the private landscaped grounds, which include a bubbling fountain, a particularly eye-catching fireplace, and an iridescent blue-tiled pool encased within a sundeck. Rounding it all out: a detached sound studio and office, along with a two-car garage.

Rapper G-Eazy’s $3.7 Million Hollywood Hills Home Comes With a Professional Recording Studio

Since he’s been living in New York for more than a year now, Gerald Gillum—better known to his fans as G-Eazy—has decided to part ways with the Spanish Colonial villa in Los Angeles he affectionately refers to as Gerryland. The Oakland-born rapper and record producer has stuck a $3.7 million price tag on the towering residence, which is tucked away in the Beachwood Canyon neighborhood of Hollywood Hills.

Though the ask is almost $2 million more than the nearly $1.8 million he paid ER and Salem actor Shane West for the late 1970s abode back in 2016, G-Eazy completely remodeled the digs during his tenure in collaboration with Melody Jimenez of MA Creative. Subsequently described by Architectural Digest as a “low-key hideaway in which to work and collaborate with fellow artists,” the place has four bedrooms and five baths in roughly 3,600 square feet of character-filled living space boasting rustic hardwood floors, custom Italian and Moroccan tile, and artisanal ironwork throughout.

An entry vestibule has a step-down living room on one side and a dining area on the other.

“This was the first home G-EAZY ever bought, even turning the guesthouse into a studio,” says Raul Sanchez Jr. of Christie’s International Real Estate Southern California, who holds the listing. “He poured a lot of money into the home, remodeling the kitchen, the walk-in closet, the fixtures are all custom, and of course, the studio, where he wrote many of his biggest hits.”

Sequestered behind walls and a gated entrance in the storied Hollywoodland enclave, the creamy stucco and stair-laced structure is perched upon a steep, almost quarter-acre parcel overlooking jetliner views that include the Hollywood Sign. Inside the double wood and glass front doors, an entry vestibule displaying a curving iron-railed staircase steps down to a living room resting beneath a vaulted wood-beam ceiling and sporting an all-white fireplace and French doors opening out to a slender balcony. The nearby dining room connects to a stylish eat-in kitchen, which is outfitted with dark green cabinetry, marble countertops, and Wolf appliances.

The two-story guesthouse features a recording studio on the lower level and a lounge area up top.

Elsewhere is a posh primary suite flaunting a former bedroom that’s been transformed into a massive walk-in closet to house the No Limit and Me, Myself & I performer’s extensive collection of sneakers and leather jackets, along with Juliet balconies and a masculine bath spotlighted by a glass-encased steam shower. Outdoors, the grounds host several alfresco lounging and entertaining spots enhanced by a saltwater pool with a Baja shelf, plus a fire pit and a built-in barbecue.

Topping it all off is the self-contained two-story guesthouse, which is accessible via stairs and a snazzy elevator and houses a lounge area on the upper level and a professional-grade recording studio with a kitchenette and a shower down below. There’s also a street-level two-car garage.

This 1940s R.M. Schindler Home in Hollywood Hills Is Back on the Market for $3.3 Million

It’s been barely a year since Tara Subkoff doled out nearly $2.4 million for a pristine 80-year-old home in Los Angeles designed by revered architect R.M. Schindler. Now the multi-faceted actress, artist, director, and fashion designer is already looking to offload her place in the Outpost Estates enclave of Hollywood Hills with a nearly million-dollar jump in price, asking a speck under $3.3 million.

Known as the Jacob and Margaret Druckman House after its original owners, the modernist structure was completed in the early 1940s; it offers four bedrooms and three baths in roughly 1,600 square feet of sensitively renovated, split-level living space accented with refinished hardwood floors, ample built-ins, and high wood-beam ceilings dotted with clerestory windows. Vast expanses of glass overlook leafy canyon vistas.

The galley kitchen features vintage-style appliances and a dining area tucked into a windowed nook.

Standing out on the main floor is an open-plan great room featuring a living area sporting a decorative red-brick and white-stucco fireplace. An adjacent dining area connects to the pink and mint-green kitchen, which is outfitted with marble countertops, vintage-style appliances, and a breakfast nook with an integrated table and bench seating. Elsewhere is a set of steps leading down to a powder room, along with a guest bedroom that’s currently being used as a media room.

Three additional bedrooms can be found on the bottom-most level, as well as a den/office and two baths dressed in the same pale hues of the kitchen. Outdoors, the foliage-laced grounds are carved into a hillside parcel spanning just under a quarter of an acre and host an alfresco lounging and dining area warmed by a fireplace and an oval-shaped pool surrounded by a flagstone sundeck.

Per the listing held by William Baker of the Agency and Lilian Pfaff of Modern California Home, there’s also a newly installed gate and alarm system, plus a two-car garage.

The 52-year-old Connecticut native is probably best known for founding the art collective and fashion label Imitation of Christ. Also an actress, she’s starred in the films When the Bough Breaks and The Cell. Subkoff previously owned a 1930s Saul Harris Brown-designed streamline moderne home in the Silver Lake neighborhood of L.A. that she sold in December 2023 for $3 million.
