    Gawker Founder Nick Denton Is Selling His N.Y.C. Condo for $3.5 Million

    Soho has long been a magnet for New York’s arts and culture glitterati, drawing in A-listers like Justin Timberlake, Gigi Hadid, and Daniel Craig. And now, a loft with its own notable owner has come up for grabs in the coveted neighborhood. The airy condo at 76 Crosby Street, home to Gawker Media founder Nick Denton, has hit the market for $3.5 million with Pamela D’Arc of Compass as the British digital media pioneer and his family prepare to move across the pond.

    The two-bedroom, two-bath loft offers a blend of historic charm and modern convenience. The second-floor corner spread, accessible via a private entrance or through the building’s doorman-monitored lobby, strikes the perfect balance between the exclusivity of a townhouse and the security of a full-service building. 

    Ceilings soar to nearly 13 feet high, and wraparound southeast-facing windows flood the open-plan great room with natural light. Three cast iron columns and an original wooden ceiling beam serve as architectural reminders of Soho’s industrial past, while sleek contemporary finishes, including a stainless-steel chef’s kitchen, anchor the home firmly in the present.

Meanwhile, the expansive second bedroom offers flexibility—it can easily serve as a media room, den, or additional entertaining space. 

    Tucked away for ultimate privacy, the primary suite is a serene escape from the city’s non-stop hustle. A spa-like teak-clad bath features a Japanese soaking tub and rain shower, while two dressing closets provide ample storage. “My favorite room is the nook, opposite the bedroom in the master suite,” Denton said in a statement. “It’s where I do my work and watch the trucks make deliveries with the kids on Crosby Street. Suburban kids might be into dogs and cats; ours are city kids whose first words in the morning are ‘truck’ and ‘fire engine.’”

    This isn’t Denton’s first attempt to sell the place; back in 2016, it hit the market for $4.25 million, according to listing records. It was also rented out for $14,000 a month. During his occupancy, the media mogul famously ran the now-defunct Gawker empire right out of his Soho apartment, a website about media and culture that he founded alongside Elizabeth Spiers in 2002. Now, the 2,152-square-foot space is ready for its next chapter.  

    “For the last few years, I’ve been shuttling back and forth between Europe and New York,” Denton added. “So, I compare the apartment to hotels in London and Paris.  And I appreciate our home even more. Croissants for breakfast from the French bakery across the way, business meetings in the red-leather booths in Balthazar, and Equinox just a block away — better than any hotel gym. Five stars!” 

    Fun fact: Kelly Ripa and Mark Consuelos owned the building’s duplex penthouse from 2005 until 2014, when they sold it for $20 million to real estate developer Alex Adjmi.

    Late PBS Anchor Robert MacNeil’s N.Y.C. Apartment Overlooks the Museum of Natural History

    The New York City home of late PBS journalist Robert “Robin” MacNeil just hit the market for $5.5 million. Co-listed by Leslie O’Shea and Stacy Dolan of Brown Harris Stevens, the West 77th Street spread offers prewar detailing and timeless elegance. “The apartment is in estate condition,” O’Shea told Mansion Global. “It’s like walking into a very elegant time capsule.” 

    The Canadian-born broadcasting legend who co-founded PBS’s NewsHour with Jim Lehrer in 1975 made the Upper West Side apartment his sanctuary after stepping away from the anchor desk in 1995. He died in 2024 at the age of 93, and now his estate is passing the keys to a new owner who will hopefully appreciate its history and grandeur.

    The rambling three-bedroom, three-bath apartment is situated on the 8th floor of the neo-Gothic Studio Building—a 14-story landmarked beauty built in 1909. The building itself was originally designed as artist studios by renowned architects Herbert Spencer Harde and R. Thomas Short and is decked out with intricate terracotta detailing, while the apartment, which spans about 2,700 square feet, has some of the best views in the city. In fact, the south-facing windows in the spacious living room look directly out on the American Museum of Natural History. 

    A semi-private elevator landing leads to a foyer and gallery that retains its original leaded glass windows. The gallery connects the grand, light-filled living room with the rosewood-paneled dining room. The latter comes complete with interior leaded glass windows so you can keep an eye on guests as they enter the foyer.     Liam Neeson Puts a $10.8 Million Price on His Park-View Manhattan Pied-à-Terre

    Liam Neeson first hoisted his New York City apartment on the market early last year with a nearly $12.8 million price tag, but it still hasn’t been taken. Now the Ireland-born movie star’s longtime Manhattan digs have popped up for sale again, this time with a substantially reduced $10.8 million ask and new broker Matthew Coleman of Coleman Real Estate Group holding the listing.

    Records show Neeson and his late wife, English actress Natasha Richardson, acquired the combined three-unit property at the luxury Park Millennium building in the Upper West Side neighborhood of Lincoln Square from the developer in 1999 for around $3.9 million. Sprawled across the 28th floor of the 56-story residential tower, the corner spread has five bedrooms and five baths in a little more than 4,500 square feet boasting glossy, caramel-hued hardwood floors, high ceilings, and custom built-ins throughout.

    An entry foyer and gallery lead to a voluminous great room bordered by a ribbon of picture windows offering up picturesque city skyline and Central Park views, while a combined living and dining area connects to an eat-in kitchen outfitted with custom cabinetry and top-tier stainless appliances. Secluded in a separate wing is the spacious primary suite, which comes with a walk-in closet and dual baths, as well as a library/office and gym.

    L.A. Clippers Point Guard Ben Simmons Lists His N.Y.C. Condo for $17 Million

    Now that Ben Simmons has taken his skills to Los Angeles as a point guard for the Clippers, he no longer needs the New York City digs he resided in while he was suiting up for the Brooklyn Nets. So, the three-time NBA All-Star has decided to hand over the keys to his condo in the historic Dumbo neighborhood for a smidge under $17 million. The listing is held by M. Monica Novo of Douglas Elliman.

    Simmons purchased two under-construction units for around $14 million in summer 2023 and then combined and customized them to suit his personal needs, according to The Wall Street Journal. Sited on the 21st floor of the 33-story Olympia Dumbo building, which was created by Fortis Property Group in collaboration with Hill West Architects and the design firm Workstead, the posh pad has five bedrooms and seven baths spread across a little more than 5,200 square feet of Widell & Boschetti-designed living space armed with a Savant home-automation system.

    Now with the L.A. Clippers, Simmons was originally drafted No. 1 overall in 2016 by the Philadelphia 76ers, where he received the NBA’s Rookie of the Year award. The 28-year-old Australia native went on to play for the Brooklyn Nets in 2022, with the team buying out the remainder of his contract in February and Simmons subsequently signing with the Clippers.

    Frank Lloyd Wright’s Former Apartment at The Plaza Can Be Yours for $18.9 Million

    Of course, the architect of the Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum needed a chic Manhattan retreat. 

    Perched atop New York City’s famous Plaza Hotel, with breathtaking views of Central Park, a legendary residence once home to famed architect Frank Lloyd Wright is now on the market for $18.9 million with The Charlie Attias Team. This 4,000-square-foot corner residence, formerly known as the Frank Lloyd Wright Suite, gives you the rare opportunity to live in a piece of architectural history. 

    In 1954, Wright relocated to New York to work on the Guggenheim, and for five years before his 1959 death, the sprawling suite at the Plaza became his home away from home while in town working on what would be his final major work and arguably his most influential.     Fast forward to today; the residence has undergone a stunning transformation. The fourth-floor unit was acquired in 2009 for $13 million by Lisa and James Cohen, who soon embarked on a comprehensive four-year renovation led by architect Louis Lisboa of VL Architects and interior designer Susanna Maggard. The redone space was hoisted onto the market in 2015 for $39.5 million, and the price dropped to $26 million before it was taken off the market the following year, records show.

    An N.Y.C. Condo With Ties to ‘Babygirl’ and ‘Succession’ Just Sold for $20.1 Million 

    Ever wonder what it would cost to live like enfant terrible Roman Roy from Succession or Romy, Nicole Kidman’s high-flying tech CEO character from Babygirl? Well, now we know.

    An apartment in the real-life building prominently featured in both the acclaimed A24 film and HBO’s smash hit recently nabbed a buyer for $20.1 million. The unit itself occupies the entire 41st floor of 200 Amsterdam, a luxury residential tower on the Upper West Side. Not only did the deal set a 2025 record for the uptown neighborhood, but it also marked the fourth most expensive transaction to go down in Manhattan so far this year.  

    According to Peter Zaitzeff, the sales director of new development at Serhant, the mystery buyers were a local family who had previously been renting in the area but wanted to settle into their “forever home,” he told Mansion Global. Once asking $23.5 million, the city-view spread was most recently on the market for $22.5 million, records show.

    Residence 41 measures 4,670 square feet and features four bedrooms and four-and-a-half baths. Plus, it offers sweeping Central Park and skyline views from a 626-square-foot terrace. The open-plan living area sports soaring ceilings, French white oak floors, and a striking fireplace, while the chef’s kitchen is equipped with state-of-the-art appliances and Calacatta marble finishes.     M. Night Shyamalan’s Former N.Y.C. Penthouse Lists for $14.5 Million

    Plot twist: this New York City penthouse used to be the home of an award-winning Hollywood filmmaker. M. Night Shyamalan, the 54-year-old visionary director behind Signs and The Sixth Sense, bought the duplex apartment in Manhattan’s Tribeca neighborhood for $6.3 million in 2003, property records show. He then sold the pad nearly a decade later in 2012 for a profitable $9.5 million. The seller, whose identity is shielded behind an LLC, shelled out $12.75 million for the deluxe spread in 2021, and now, the spacious downtown abode has popped back up for sale asking $14.5 million. Chris Poore and Eyal Dagan of Sotheby’s International Realty hold the listing. 

    The penthouse crowns a six-unit boutique condo that dates back to 1888, the listing notes, and in the years since Shyamalan lived there, the two-floor condo has undergone a renovation but still maintains the same floating limestone staircase with a custom-sculpted bronze railing and cozy wood-burning fireplace. Today, the stunning loft-style residence measures a commodious 7,185 square feet and has four bedrooms, five bathrooms, a private elevator, and two outdoor terraces.

    The home has three different living areas, one with a monumental fireplace.

    “The celebrity factor can create buzz and make the property more desirable,” Poore told Mansion Global. And, “With three separate living rooms you have ample space for entertaining inside.”

In 2023, he reportedly picked up a 218-acre estate in Pennsylvania’s Chester County with ties to the Rockefeller family. His portfolio also includes a Georgian Revival house outside of Philadelphia, which is not far from the filmmaker’s childhood home in Wynnewood that changed hands back in 2022 for $1.5 million.
