Richard Burton’s Former London Mansion Hits the Market for $9.8 Million

Richard Burton went from being a humble, stage-trained Welsh actor to an international movie star, and it was while he lived in a handsome house in London’s leafy Hampstead Village that he cemented his status as an Old Hollywood legend.

The late performer lived on Lyndhurst Road with his first wife, Sybil Christopher, between 1949 and 1956. The couple originally bought a one-bedroom, ground-floor apartment in the building and eventually purchased the remaining floors following Burton’s success. It was while in residence on Lyndhurst Road that he took on some of his most famous roles, including those in The Desert Rats, The Robe, and Alexander the Great.

It’s also where he lived when he first met Elizabeth Taylor in 1953. Burton and Taylor would not, however, get to know each other romantically until after they were reacquainted in the early 1960s on the set of the epic period drama Cleopatra. They would later and famously go on to marry—twice.

The London residence where Welsh actor Richard Burton once lived has hit the market

Fast-forward to today, and the Victorian residence is now on the market for £7.95 million (or roughly $9.8 million). A blue plaque near the front door commemorates Burton’s time in residency; the historic destination was unveiled in 2011 by fellow Welsh actor Michael Sheen.

“This Blue Plaque house is not only notable due to the provenance of its former famous resident, but it also represents a rare opportunity to purchase a magnificent family home situated in the heart of Hampstead and within easy walking distance of Hampstead Heath,” says Mark Pollack, co-founding director of Aston Chase, in a press release.

The primary suite has views of St Paul’s Cathedral

The abode, built by architect Henry Davidson, dates back to the 1860s. Altogether, the spread comprises a semi-detached dwelling with six bedrooms plus a separate self-contained two-bedroom garden apartment.

There are heaps of original period details throughout, like high ceilings, tall windows, marble fireplaces, and French doors. Other highlights include a top-floor penthouse studio, a 60-foot-long rear garden, and views of St. Paul’s Cathedral from the primary suite.

“It’s a rare find on one of Hampstead’s most sought-after tree-lined streets,” adds Knight Frank’s Katy Brookes, who’s co-listing the home.

First Look: Inside the Luxurious Nobu Residences in Los Cabos

Nobu Hotel Los Cabos is about to feel a lot more like home. The Baja California Sur resort has officially unveiled the design of its private residences—and we got a sneak peek inside.

The veteran hospitality brand’s Mexico outpost has added an additional 60 residential-style accommodations to its swanky 200-room property, ranging from one to four-bedroom suites that all live up to Nobu’s contemporary, Japanese aesthetic. The luxurious new units act as an extension of the hotel—meaning, they’re only available for guest bookings, not for lease or to buy like traditional residential concepts.

“Our goal when creating Nobu Residences was to give guests a sanctuary that they can call home in Los Cabos,” says Richard Sorensen, general manager at Nobu Hotel Los Cabos, in a press statement. “With amplified luxury amenities unique to the residences such as private pools, home gyms, barbecues, and more, new doors are opened to experience the Nobu lifestyle on a personal level, whether it’s hosting private dinners and events, or just spending quality time with family.”

An inside look at the new Nobu Residences Los Cabos

From the moment you arrive, you’ll be treated to a private VIP check-in experience and an epic array of exclusive amenities. The latter runs the gamut from your own fitness room and massage suite to a 24-hour personal concierge and an au pair room. If you don’t feel like hitting up any of the hotel’s world-famous restaurants one evening, you can opt for an in-residence meal prepared by a private chef.

Each of the 60 residences is minimalist in its design and pays homage to the Baja area with handcrafted decor by local artisans. A fully functioning kitchen, a terrace deck, and a deep soaking tub in the bathroom all come standard with the suites. In the one-bedroom Hikari category, there are either garden or golf course views, a living room, and a dining area spread across its 1,046 square feet. Elsewhere, the 2,051-square-foot Asahi accommodation offers up the same, apart from its two beds and a terrace with a barbecue.

Each of the 60 suites comes with an outdoor terrace deck

Rihanna Just Snapped Up a Lavish L.A. Penthouse for $21 Million

Rihanna is making room for her growing family. The singer, who’s currently expecting her second child, just swapped her longtime Century City condo for a sprawling $21 million penthouse in the same celeb-loved building.

According to Dirt, the mogul has moved from her three-bedroom, 3,500-square-foot apartment at the Century right into a 9,290-square-foot mansion in the sky. The former has served as her primary residence since 2014, located within the Robert A. M. Stern–designed building in Los Angeles. Her new aerie, which she’ll share with rapper A$AP Rocky and their two kids, spans the entire 40th floor and offers up four expansive bedrooms and six and a half baths.

Rihanna just dropped $21 million on a full-floor penthouse at the Century in Los Angeles.

    Michael McNamara and Jason Speth

The pop star is reported to have purchased the pad from seller Nick Molnar, the cofounder of Afterpay. Molnar originally listed the apartment for $28 million after nearly two years of ownership. Although, he only splashed out $21.6 million when he bought the unit from actor Matthew Perry. The Friends star lived at this same scenic perch from 2017 to 2021 and made a ton of upgrades to the place during the four-year period. He turned to architect Scott Joyce and interior designer LM Pagano to renovate the spread, which now includes a Hollywood-style movie theater and a massive primary suite with a fireplace and dual bathrooms.

The 40th-floor apartment was formerly owned by actor Matthew Perry.

    Michael McNamara and Jason Speth

Throughout the circular-shaped dwelling, there are soaring floor-to-ceiling windows with sweeping views of the city. Additional highlights include four outdoor terraces, a large living room, and a state-of-the-art kitchen. The 42-story tower is known for being a “paparazzi-proof” escape for California’s rich and famous, decked out with a 24-hour concierge service, a fitness center, and a 75-foot swimming pool. Everyone from Denzel Washington and Nobu Matsuhisa to Paula Abdul and Terry Dubrow has been residents of the building. In fact, Candy Spelling has an enormous two-floor penthouse right on top of Rihanna’s new digs.

Patriots Owner Robert Kraft Just Snapped Up Palm Beach’s Most Expensive Condo for $23.7 Million

When Robert Kraft bought the New England Patriots for $172 million nearly three decades ago, he set a league record. Now, the billionaire owner has made history yet again—this time in the real estate realm—with the purchase of a new penthouse in Palm Beach.

Kraft recently dropped a whopping $23.7 million on an oceanfront condo in South Florida, making it the priciest pad to ever sell in the ritzy island enclave, according to the Wall Street Journal. For context, that’s about $3 million less than the original asking price when it was first listed in September. The swanky seaside digs span roughly 5,000 square feet and comprise four bedrooms, five-and-a-half baths, plus a 1,300-square-foot wraparound terrace.

Prior to Kraft acquiring the abode, the apartment belonged to oil tycoon Erving Wolf and his wife, Joyce. The couple bought the condo back in 2000 for a modest $6 million, one of only a few penthouses sited directly on the beach. Before Erving passed away in 2018, and Joyce in 2022, they tapped their daughter-in-law, renowned American architect and sculptor Maya Lin, to renovate the home. Lin, whose best known for designing Washington’s Vietnam Veterans Memorial, gave the residence a modern and contemporary refresh. Most notably, she added natural wood, stone and limestone to mirror the color of the ocean.

Kraft set a new real estate record when he purchased the area’s most expensive condo

    Living Proof/The Corcoran Group

“The apartment when we first saw it had potentially wonderful views to the water but was partitioned off by a more traditional separation of formal rooms,” Lin told the WSJ in September. Inside, you’ll find soaring floor-to-ceiling windows, walnut floors and large glass doors that lend a bright and airy feel to the open layout. Elsewhere, there’s a library, dining room, kitchen and a large living area. Considering the couple were avid art collectors, the foyer, which serves as a mini gallery, is where Kraft can now freely hang his own blue-chip works—or, of course, showcase his six Super Bowl trophies.

Rihanna’s Former NYC Penthouse Just Hit the Market for $13 Million

Back in 2013, Rihanna found love in a Soho penthouse. Now the superstar’s former pad is up for grabs.

A two-floor condo in New York City that once hosted the Barbados-born mogul has just hit the market for $12.9 million. Owned by fashion photographer Antoine Verglas, the Frenchman leased his pricey property to the Fenty Beauty founder from 2013 to 2017. Of course, if you only plan to live there for four, five seconds à la RiRi, the abode is also available to rent—for a whopping $45,000 a month, that is.

The duplex penthouse spans the top two levels of 129 Lafayette Street, which borders the Soho and Nolita neighborhoods. The building itself was originally built in 1911 as a light manufacturing facility. Nearly a century later in 2004, it was converted into a luxury residential development. Across the home’s 7,000 square feet are four bedrooms, three full bathrooms and one half bath. An added perk is a 2,400-square-foot landscaped wraparound terrace: aka, your private outdoor oasis with 360-degree views of Manhattan.

A duplex penthouse in New York City that formerly housed Rihanna just listed for $12.9 million.

Inside, you’ll find all the makings of a bright and airy prewar apartment. Details include oversized windows, custom concrete flooring and soaring 13-foot ceilings throughout. A key-locked elevator takes you straight up to the top floor and opens to the grand living room which has been outfitted with a wood-burning fireplace. The living area flows right into the ultra-modern chef’s kitchen, decked out with Val Cucine cabinetry and top-of-the-line appliances. From here, you’ll have direct access to that sick roof deck.

The primary suite offers views of the Empire State Building.

If you take the steel-and-wood floating staircase down to the 11th floor, you’ll stumble across all four of the bedrooms. The expansive primary suite really steals the show with panoramic views of the Empire State Building and beyond. This space also features its own bathroom, dressing room and a massive walk-in closet—which is good news if your wardrobe collection is anything like the singer-turned-style icon’s.

Sarah Jessica Parker’s Former NYC Penthouse Could Be Yours for $5.5 Million

It doesn’t get more “New York” than a Tribeca penthouse formerly owned by Sarah Jessica Parker. And if you couldn’t help but wonder, it does in fact have a closet that would make even Carrie Bradshaw jealous.

The actress’s one-time home is located on the top floor of the Collect Pound House. However, the residence and co-op building have been extensively renovated since she lived there in the ‘90s. Combined with a second unit below it, the ultra-chic duplex now has four bedrooms and four bathrooms across its two levels, plus a stunning 1,000-square-foot rooftop terrace for al fresco lounging. If you happen to have $5.5 million to spare, Parker’s former pad could be yours.

The minimalist interiors are laid out in an open design and come with some seriously striking details, in addition to a few that harken back to the building’s 20th-century origins. There are rich hardwood floors throughout, soaring 10.5-foot-high ceilings and a mix of wood-framed and arched windows—26 in total if you’re counting.

On the second floor, a massive great room blends into the living and dining areas. Meanwhile, the kitchen is illuminated by a set of skylights and has been outfitted with custom cabinets, top-of-the-line appliances and a cozy breakfast room. Elsewhere, you’ll find a home office and a full bathroom.

Down on the lower level are three bedrooms—however, a room that’s currently configured as a movie theater could serve as a fourth. The standout feature of the primary suite has got to be the huge walk-in closet, custom built, of course, with plenty of built-in storage for all your Manolo Blahniks.

Just up the staircase is the rooftop terrace, which was designed by architect Stephen Wanta. The outdoor oasis comes with 360-degree views of the city and a summer kitchen. The only thing missing is a batch of Cosmos.

Claudia Saez-Fromm and Mark David Fromm of The Corcoran Group hold the listing.
