      A Beverly Hills Mansion Custom-Built by Married Fashion Moguls Is Up for Grabs at $47 Million

      Back in the late 1990s, Mel and Susan Geliebter purchased a roughly 3-acre property in the mountains above Beverly Hills for $7.5 million. They subsequently spent millions more building an unabashedly grand and decidedly bespoke Tuscan-style villa on the lot, which lies within the guard-gated Beverly Park enclave. Now, some 17 years after construction wrapped, the fashion industry moguls—who founded and then sold jeans manufacturer RSV Sport to Jones Apparel Group in 2002 for $310 million—are hoisting the custom-built estate on the market for the very first time, asking $47.5 million.

      Completed in 2006, and tucked away behind gates and a circular motorcourt embellished with a tiered fountain, the Robert Sinclair-designed residence has five bedrooms and 11 baths in 17,300 square feet of living space. Per The Wall Street Journal, which first reported the listing, the home also is adorned throughout with ornate details hand-crafted by Italian and English artisans in an homage to the couple’s travels through Europe.

      Double doors open into a soaring foyer topped by a sculpted walnut ceiling and displaying a striking curving staircase. From there, a spacious great room has a coffered ceiling, vintage French fireplace and built-in bar, and a 20-seat dining room adorned with hand-painted walls is flanked by a gourmet kitchen outfitted with an oversized eat-in island, top-tier appliances and an accompanying breakfast room.

      Yet other highlights include a wood-paneled office, movie theater and bar/lounge area, plus a sumptuous upstairs master retreat that comes complete with dual sitting rooms, walk-in closets and luxe baths. Three additional guest bedrooms and a library also can be found on the upper floor, while a subterranean level boasts a 3,000-bottle wine cellar, fireside dining room and kitchen.

      Outdoors, the picturesque grounds are laced with palm trees and meandering pathways, and host several spots ideal for al fresco lounging and entertaining with a fireplace, kitchen, two barbecues and a pizza oven, plus a sundeck-encased swimming pool resting alongside a gym-equipped pool house.

      Rounding it all out is an attached four-car garage, and eye-popping $6,216 monthly HOA dues just for the privilege of calling the exclusive community home.

      The listing is held by Linda May of Carolwood Estates and her colleague Alex Soriano, who is the Geliebters’ granddaughter.

      Emma Stone’s Charming L.A. Bungalow Hits the Market for $4 Million

      Not only did Emma Stone just garner a Golden Globe win for her performance in the movie Poor Things, but the A-list actress also has decided to lighten her Los Angeles property portfolio.

      Records show Stone—who maintains a permanent residence in the Texas city of Austin—has stuck a nearly $4 million price tag on a relatively humble yet charming Spanish-style bungalow in the Comstock Hills area of Westwood that was long occupied by her mother.

      Though that’s around $1.7 million more than she paid for the place almost five years ago, back in spring 2019, Stone did extensively renovate the premises during her ownership. According to The Wall Street Journal, which first reported the listing, she expanded the kitchen, and added a one-bedroom guesthouse with its own kitchen and living room. 

      Described in marketing materials as having “character in all the right places,” the 1920s house features four bedrooms and an equal number of baths in a little more than 3,200 square feet of colorfully hued living space boasting many of the original details, including wood-beam ceilings and wide arched doorways.

      The home’s cozy living spaces are complemented with artwork and pops of color.

      A gated driveway is tucked off to the side of the creamy stucco and terracotta-roof structure, which is fronted by a brick walkway that passes through a grassy lawn before emptying out at a sage-green door that opens into the original tiled courtyard. Once inside, an entry foyer displaying a curving iron-railed staircase steps down to a light-filled living room adorned with a fireplace, built-in shelving and French doors leading outside.

      Among the other highlights: a formal dining area, plus a sitting room that connects to an eat-in kitchen outfitted with all-white wood cabinetry, a turquoise-hued range and farmhouse sink; and elsewhere is a primary bedroom hosting a stylish bath equipped with a vanity sporting a sink and dressing area, as well as a vintage clawfoot soaking tub and separate walk-in shower.

      Aside from her for-sale Westwood house and Texas mansion, Stone also maintains a posh New York City apartment. In 2022, she sold a midcentury ranch-style house directly overlooking Malibu’s Las Tunas Beach to David Cooley—longtime owner of The Abbey Food & Bar in West Hollywood—for $4.4 million, or nearly $1.2 million more than The Curse and Cruella star paid for the place back in 2018.

      F1’s Jenson Button Is Putting His Fully Redone SoCal Mansion on the Market for $8 Million

      Jenson and Brittny Button have been quite busy on the real estate front during the past few years, with the former Formula 1 champ and his interior designer wife having purchased, renovated and then sold a trio of homes in Palm Springs and Santa Monica for a net total of $11.4 million. Now the pair have hoisted their latest project on the market, asking just under $8 million for a swanky Los Angeles-area mansion in the mountains between Malibu and Calabasas.

      Per records, the Buttons purchased the Spanish-style residence known as “Casa Encanto” (charming house) in winter 2021 for $3.7 million. The couple—who also have another Palm Springs property known as “The Mesa Bungalows” up for sale at $2.3 million—then embarked upon an extensive remodel spearheaded by Brittny’s own Button Atelier design studio, complete with a newly opened floor plan boasting minimalist fawn, tan, chocolate, cream and white interiors paired with classic fluted columns and tons of natural light.

      “I stuck with a tonal palette to create an airy atmosphere with the remodel,” says Brittny. “The end result is a home that offers a tranquil respite from the hustle and bustle of Los Angeles.”

      Ariana Grande Sells Hollywood Hills Hideaway at a Loss to Bad Bunny

      Last year, Ariana Grande spent nearly $5 million to buy a secluded Hollywood Hills house from Cameron Diaz. So it’s not entirely surprising that the frequent real estate buyer and seller has now opted to unload her other hillside home, this one a cottage-sized structure in the trendy Bird Streets neighborhood, located roughly 1.5 miles due west of her new place.

      Though it was never on the market, records reveal the Bird Streets place sold for $8.3 million to Benito Antonio Martínez Ocasio, the Puerto Rican rapper better known to his millions of worldwide fans as Bad Bunny. Unfortunately for Grande, that sales price is significantly less than the $8.9 million she paid for the very private house less than two years ago, back in early 2021. When coupled with L.A.’s controversial new mansion tax and other inevitable closing costs, it’s clear that the 30-year-old Florida native lost more than $1 million on her short ownership of the 0.74-acre property.

      Because the deal was finalized off-market and the house never publicly offered for sale, details and photos are few. But tax records confirm the property consists of three contiguous parcels of land that cling to a steep hillside, with vertigo-inducing vistas. The only structure on the lot is a low-slung cottage that was built in 1946 and spans less than 1,600 square feet of living space, with three bedrooms and two bathrooms.

      Built in the 1940s, the humble ranch-style house was extensively renovated in 2020.

      We do know, however, that the cottage was extensively renovated circa 2020, and now sports a lovely sort of rustic-meets-contemporary sort of style. There’s also a very large outdoor patio, plus a two-car attached garage and a dark-bottom swimming pool.

      Indisputably the home’s most unique feature is its ultra-private setting, as it sits behind an extraordinarily long gated driveway. The entire property is invisible from the public road behind tall hedges and trees, although from its hillside perch the house has great views over the bustling Sunset Strip, West Hollywood, and beyond.

      In addition to his new Bird Streets pied-à-terre, Bad Bunny also maintains a significantly larger estate elsewhere in the Hollywood Hills, acquired just last year for nearly $9 million. While we don’t know whether the 29-year-old music superstar intends to keep or sell that place, he can certainly afford to maintain both properties.       Maria Sharapova Scores an $11 Million Montecito Estate

      Last fall, noted Chicago philanthropist Ann Lurie put her longtime vacation home in California‘s famously posh seaside neighborhood of Montecito on the market, asking just under $13 million. Records now reveal the property has quietly sold for $11.5 million in an all-cash deal, and the spendy buyer is retired tennis superstar Maria Sharapova.

      Lurie, the widow of real estate titan and former Chicago White Sox and Bulls part owner Robert H. Lurie, acquired the stunningly lavish Montecito hideaway in the mid-2000s, paying about $8.3 million. Since then, it’s clear the house and its extensive grounds have been exquisitely and painstakingly maintained.

      Reportedly designed by noted architect Lockwood de Forest Jr. and completed circa 1949, the five-bedroom main house is surrounded by 3.3 acres of lush lawns and terraced gardens shaded by mature specimen trees. Walled and gated, the impressive estate lies high in the foothills above downtown Montecito, at the very end of a quiet and secluded cul-de-sac. The property also happens to sit directly next door to an even larger compound owned by Katy Perry and Orlando Bloom.

      Though it has been modified and expanded over the years, the home’s rustic, wood-trimmed interiors still hark back to its midcentury roots.

      Best described as an ultra-refined and elegant take on a rustic cabin in the woods, Sharapova’s new home is filled with natural light, thanks to soaring walls of glass that blur the line between indoors and out.       Altogether, the palatial spread has five residences, a private gym, a yoga center, a spa, and a large oval-shaped swimming pool. The turnkey property also comes with its furnishings, so essentially all you have to do is wire the purchase funds and pack your toothbrush.

      In 2021, Royal Island appeared in season one of the travel-centric Netflix series The World’s Most Amazing Vacation Rentals, hosted by Megan Batoon, Jo Franco, and Million Dollar Listing New York star Luis D. Ortiz. Awarded as one of the top resorts on the planet by Condé Nast Traveler, the idyllic private island was bookable earlier this year for a hefty $18,500 per night, Forbes reported.

      “Royal Island, as set up currently, is excellent for private gatherings,” notes the listing, which is held by Vladi Private Islands. A perfect party pad for hosting friends and family, the secluded island has its own bar and restaurant within the grounds. 

      There are plenty of ways to keep busy during the day, but, naturally, the highlights of the property are the water sports. Think everything from snorkeling to paddleboarding, jet skiing, and kayaking.

      Of course, if you’re looking to create an even more epic escape, the island getaway was granted preemptive approval in 2007 for additional development, including an expansive marina. There are also plans for an 18-hole waterfront golf course; however, the sky is really the limit here. And if you’re ever worried about feeling too isolated, rest assured you’re approximately 40 miles northeast of Nassau, the capital of The Bahamas.

      Pentatonix’s Scott Hoying Shells Out $4 Million for an All-New L.A. Contemporary Home

      Grammy-winning a cappella group Pentatonix has come along way over the past decade. Since the band won the third season of NBC’s “The Sing-Off” in 2011, they’ve released multiple EPs and full-length albums, done tribute performances on several award shows, and went viral after their Jolene collaboration with Dolly Parton on Jolene was shown on The Voice.       Built new in 2023 on speculation, the two-story house is styled in a trendy modern farmhouse-meets-contemporary sort of architectural style. Blocky and hard-edged on the outside, the 4,300-square-foot structure gets soft and neutral on the inside, with European white oak hardwood floors, abundant natural light and brass fixtures found throughout.

      Set behind walls and gates, the property’s petite front yard is shaded by a mature olive tree. Behind the custom front door lies a long hallway that runs the full length of the home, helping to marry the kitchen with the open dining, living and family areas. Premium Wolf appliances and travertine imported from Italy give the kitchen a Euro-chic look, and foldaway glass pocket doors allow for easy catering to the al fresco dining area.

      Per the listing, there are five bedrooms in the main house, all of them equipped with ensuite full baths and all but one situated on the home’s upper level. The 6,700-square-foot lot also offers a fully permitted and detached ADU (additional dwelling unit) currently configured as a guesthouse. In between the two buildings is a cozy, courtyard-style backyard equipped with an AstroTurf lawn and a compact plunge pool, plus the aforementioned outdoor dining space.

      As far as we know, this is the second house ever purchased by Hoying, who back in 2018 forked out $2.5 million for a sleekly contemporary house just minutes from Hollywood’s Universal Studios.
