    Home of the Week: Racing Legend Tony Stewart’s $30 Million Indiana Ranch Features the Ultimate Man Cave

    It’s been described as a cross between a Bass Pro Shops and a Cabela’s. But the massive log cabin-style Indiana ranch, owned by racing legend Tony Stewart, is arguably way more authentic.

    Take the roughly 415 acres of land it sits on. It’s stocked to the brim with elk, deer and wild turkey. In front of the ranch is a nine-acre lake teeming with trophy bass just waiting to be hooked.

    The ranch itself, known as Hidden Hollow, was built with lodge pole pine trucked in from the northern Rockies. The floors are made of white oak, red hardwood and stone imported from Texas. Indiana bedrock was used to build the two-level fireplace. “It is truly a unique, one-of-a-kind property that you simply don’t find here in Indiana. Its sheer size is remarkable,” Carrie Holle, listing agent with Compass Realty tells Robb Report.

    For the uninitiated, Tony Stewart is a NASCAR Hall of Famer, winner of three NASCAR Cup series championships and the only driver in history to have won championships in both IndyCar and NASCAR. He’s a legend. And while the 50-year-old, nicknamed “Smoke”, officially hung up his helmet in 2016, he’s co-owner of the Stewart Haas Racing NASCAR team, and still races stock cars in his Superstar Racing Experience series.
    Stewart, who grew up in nearby Columbia, Indiana, bought his sprawling property back in 2009, demolished the house sitting on it and spent three years building his dream ranch. “This is truly my dream home,” he says in a statement. “This became my place to get away and relax with my family and friends. We’ve enjoyed every square inch of the land. The best part is that there is always something to do here. The land is great for hunting and fishing, off-roading or just sitting on the porch and enjoying the stars at night. It is the perfect blend of entertainment and relaxation.”

    And he certainly has the “entertainment” part covered. The home comes with a massive 8,500-square-foot lower level that you could only describe as a “man cavern”. It comes with a full-service bar, gaming tables, a two-lane bowling alley, a gym, virtual golf room and stunning carved-wood pool table.
    Taking pride of place at one end of the basement is Stewart’s collection of 200-plus racing helmets, plus a genuine IndyCar single-seat racer bolted to the wall. Nearby is the driver’s collection of vintage gas pumps and pinball machines. (And no, they don’t come with the home.)

    Arguably even more jaw-dropping than the man-cavern is the rightly named Great Room. From the front entry, you walk over an actual wooden bridge spanning a koi-filled stream fed by a two-story waterfall. The rocks at its base are as big as most Buicks.

    Taking pride of place in the living room is an 8,700-gallon freshwater aquarium filled with largemouth bass, carp, gar, perch and crappie. The tank is so big the maintenance guy has to don scuba gear to clean the bottom.
    In total there are six ensuite bedrooms, eight full baths and a master suite as expansive as you’d expect. Don’t worry about window treatments—it’s all lake and woodlands as far as you can see. Need more space for guests? Close by is a separate, nearly 3,500-square-foot guest house that’s currently home to the ranch’s full-time games-keeper.

    As for garaging, the listing talks about a six-car garage, which sounds a little on the small side for a confirmed car guy. Compass’ Holle explains that one of those huge, nondescript standalone buildings on the property is home to the Tony Stewart Collection. “We don’t publicize it because right now it’s his private space with lots of his prized cars and memorabilia. But it is huge.”
    Who’s going to buy this, the most expensive listing in Indiana history? Holle points to the fact that the ranch is a licensed hunting preserve and is even zoned for use as a bed and breakfast, so has multiple-use possibilities.

    “Much of the appeal has to be its location. The ranch is only an hour’s drive from Indianapolis International Airport and the Indianapolis Motor Speedway. And while it looks from the photographs to be in the middle of nowhere, there’s a Starbucks five minutes away.”
    According to Holle, Stewart is selling because non-stop travel commitments keep him and his new wife, top drag racer, Leah Pruett, from spending enough time there.

    DJ Calvin Harris Is Spinning Off His $25 Million Beverly Hills Estate

    DJ Calvin Harris must “feel so close” to $25 million after listing his Beverly Hills compound last month. The hitmaker first purchased the then-brand-new property in 2014 and after extensive renovations, is officially parting with the property.

    From the exterior, the home looks more traditional than one might expect from a global A-list DJ, with nods to an East Coast Hamptons estate. However, the interiors reflect Harris’ worldly taste, accented by high-end imported materials, modern amenities and bright, airy rooms. It’s also located on a secluded, celebrity-studded street, perfect for privacy-seeking entertainers like Harris. The gated property, located at 9779 Oak Pass Road in Beverly Hills, has an elongated, tree-lined driveway and is spread over 2.7 acres.

    There are five structures on the property, including a main residence, two-story guest house, five-car garage (with elevator access), a security office for a live-in body guard and a standalone gym. Expansive lawns and winding  pathways connect each structure. As you might imagine, the place has all the bells and whistles one could want and need, including that state-of-the-art home gym and a basketball court, movie theater and an epic backyard.

    Leaving on a Prayer? Jon Bon Jovi Just Unloaded His Manhattan Condo for $22 Million

    Rocker Jon Bon Jovi is saying goodbye to his spacious Manhattan apartment, which just sold for $22 million.

    Tucked between the charming downtown Manhattan neighborhoods Greenwich Village and West Village, the 4,000-square-foot home has four bedrooms and panoramic views of downtown and the Hudson River. The unit offers incredible natural light through floor-to-ceiling windows and, because it’s a corner unit, there are southern, western and eastern exposures. The large unit also has high ceilings, which make it feel even more spacious. By night, the recessed lighting creates a beautiful ambience and lets the city take center stage.

It remains to be seen if the musician will pick-up another residence in the area—or in Manhattan at all—or if he’s keeping his roots planted in the Garden State.

    Flea Just Listed a $9.8 Million LA Compound Featuring Two Architecturally Striking Homes

    Following the recent purchase of a $14 million Mullholland Drive spread, musician and budding real estate mogul Michael “Flea” Balzary—bassist and founding member of the Red Hot Chili Peppers—has officially put one of his other LA-area properties on the market. Listed for $9.8 million, the architectural, hilltop compound is tucked within the La Crescenta foothills in Los Angeles, offering incredible privacy in large part thanks to its funky, cinematic design.

    The six-acre property actually has two residences. The first is a 1950s home called the Dorothy Serulnic Residence, designed by prolific Austrian-American architect Richard Neutra, a prominent modernist. Neutra built the home in 1953 for his then-secretary Dorothy Serulnic and her husband, George. Now, it acts as a stuck-in-time, 1,350-square foot, two-bedroom guest home, albeit with modern updates. You’ll also find built-in features designed by Neutra, like a sofa system with a record player, shelving systems, desks, a sliding breakfast nook and more. Walls of glass frame exquisite views of the city and mountains, while the bear valley stone fireplace looks plucked out of the ‘50s.

    But the biggest draw for design lovers is definitely the seven-sided main residence with an interior courtyard. Los Angeles-based architect Michael Maltzan  was commissioned by the property’s former owners to build the second structure in 2009; Flea wanted to keep Maltzan’s vision, so he enlisted him to built an 875-square-foot addition in 2021.
    The home welcomes plenty of natural light through double-layered, UV-protected glass walls and windows, and Maltzan tied many features, like wooden furniture and flooring, to the original Neutra-designed residence. Maltzan designed the layout in a series of triangles and polygons, which takes each person on a journey within the unique space and around an interior courtyard garden. There are several notable features, like industrial-style concrete walls and a curvilinear penny-tiled bath in the primary suite, as well as massive geometric skylights and a flat roof. Other indoor hubs include an office and a den.

    Perfect for those who love spending time outdoors (and those who love to entertain), the house has an outdoor movie pavilion with a wind screen, a catering kitchen, a 50-foot lap pool and and a redwood-clad cabin built by artist Peter Staley. 

    Flea purchased the compound in 2018 for roughly $4.3 million, according to Dirt, and has since added a pool, the cabin and that Maltzan-designed addition. The out-of-this-world retreat is located 20 minutes north of Downtown LA.

    Richard Gere Lists His Idyllic 50-Acre Hudson Valley Estate for $28 Million

    Richard Gere has listed the sprawling upstate New York compound he’s owned for more than 20 years. 

    The actor first purchased the property in 1986 and, over the years, created multiple structures on the 48.7 acres. The main New England-style residence is the largest at 11,658 square feet, and houses eight bedrooms, nine bathrooms and two half-baths. Located in picturesque Pound Ridge, New York, just 50 miles (or about an hour) from New York City, the property has been listed for $28 million by Muffin Dowdle of Ginnel Real Estate.

    John Legend and Chrissy Teigen Are Selling Their Two NYC Penthouses for a Combined $18 Million

    John Legend and Chrissy Teigen are bidding adieu to not one but two properties in New York City. The couple purchased the penthouses in the same building with the intention of one day combining them into one duplex unit, but never got around to pulling the trigger. Now the singer-songwriter and model are listing the parcel for $18 million.

    Teigen and Legend didn’t buy both units at once: They snapped up one for $9 million in 2018 and the other for $7.7 million in 2020. The properties are both located in Brewster Carriage House, a historic building that was once home to, you guessed it, a horse carriage company. The 150-year-old structure was converted into condos in 2012.

    Once combined, the duplex penthouse will comprise about 6,100 interior square feet. Standout features include the kitchen, which is custom and fitted out with Miele appliances, as well as the white-oak floors throughout the home.     You Can Call Bing Crosby’s Former Coachella Valley Estate Your Own for $4.5 Million

    In need of an oasis? Look no further than the late superstar Bing Crosby’s former desert estate in Rancho Mirage, California.

    Having been listed on and off the market for over a decade, the midcentury modern home has a new asking price of $4.5 million. Sitting on roughly 1.5 acres in a gated community called Thunderbird Heights, the 6,700 square-foot home was built by the “White Christmas” singer in the 1950s. It includes five bedrooms, a home theater, a double-oven kitchen, an outdoor patio and jaw-dropping views of the Coachella Valley. Of course, the desert utopia also comes with its own pool, spa, putting green and an entire guest wing (with two bedrooms) for when company comes to stay.

    The current owner, Robert Teller, first listed the property for $3.495 million in 2010. David Emerson and Alexandra Trejo of Compass now share the listing, and believe the strong local real-estate market will pull in attractive offers, according to The Wall Street Journal. For context, the median sale price in Rancho Mirage was up 32.4% in the third quarter of this year compared to the same period in 2021, according to data from Miller Samuel Real Estate Appraisers & Consultants. “Our market is on fire,” Emerson tells the WSJ. “We’ve been in double-digit increases annually for the past several years.”

    Back in 2005, Teller, a former ice cream industry entrepreneur and a real estate investor, bought the house for $2.625 million. According to reports, he said he bought it because his late wife, who was battling cancer at the time, wanted a home in the desert. The businessman was also drawn to the estate himself, as he shared an appreciation for Crosby with his father growing up. When his wife passed, Teller began listing the property—having found that he’s not as big a fan of the desert as his is of the entertainer.

    Harry Lillis “Bing” Crosby Jr. is one of the most popular entertainers of all time, known for both his singing and acting success from 1926 to 1977. In 1931, he launched his first radio show, and later went on to host the hugely popular “The Bing Crosby Show for Chesterfield” on CBS Radio.     This $100 Million Private Island in the Bahamas Comes Fully Furnished and Move-In Ready

    Why own a vacation home when you can have a whole island? Those looking to really get away from it all this winter are in luck, as Little Pipe Cay, a private island in the Bahamas, has hit the market once again for $100 million. No small price, and $15 million more than the property was going for when it was first listed in 2018.

    What justifies the uptick in price? Simply put, owning an island is now more appealing than ever. Many left major cities behind for more far-flung locales last year during the height of the Covid-19 pandemic, and that interest doesn’t seem to be slowing down any time soon. Little Pipe Cay has some geographical advantages compared to other isles too, as it’s located in the 350-island Exumas archipelago. So it’s not far from Miami, should you ever want to hop over to the city for a long weekend.

The island’s current infrastructure can be credited to investor and businessman Michael Dingman, who previously owned the property, according to The Wall Street Journal.

    Of course, as incredible as a property like this one is, upkeep doesn’t come cheap. Running costs total about $1.5 million, though there’s room to turn it into a money-making venture. The future owner could transform the place into a resort, similar to Sir Richard Branson’s Necker Island, and turn a profit.
