      Kris Kristofferson’s Sprawling Northern California Ranch Hits the Market for $17.2 Million

      Country superstar Kris Kristofferson has placed his Northern California ranch of almost 40 years on the market. Nestled on 557 lush acres outside of Elk, about three hours north of San Francisco, the retired singer-songwriter recently listed the sprawling oceanfront compound for a cool $17.2 million, The Wall Street Journal first reported.

      Kristofferson originally bought the ranch in 1980 and, over the decades since, has leased a good chunk of the land for cattle grazing, which shouldn’t really come as a surprise. He is a Texas native, after all.

      “The ranch has always been a place of creativity and inspiration,” the A Star Is Born actor told the newspaper. Dating back to the 1800s, the legacy ranch began as a dairy farm and still includes some of the original structures. In addition to the 2,400-square-foot barn that Kristofferson and his wife used as a vacation house, there is also a 1,900-square-foot ranch house, a dairy barn, and a feed barn, all of which are in need of a little TLC.

      As it stands, the property features 300 acres of open pasture and approximately 250 acres of forestland that are dotted with old-growth redwood and fir trees. Offering up a mile of Pacific Ocean frontage, the property sits right below Devils Basin. Given the scale and location, there’s a possibility that the land could be subdivided or even expanded upon. “I grew up here, and this property, in a lot of ways, is steeped in history,” Justin Nadeau of Mendo Sotheby’s International Realty told the WSJ. “Nobody has seen a property like this one come to market.”

      Kristofferson and his wife still own another home in Hawaii, on Maui, which has become their main residence. As for the ranch, Nadeau added at the time of the listing that the couple feels like “it’s time to let it go and move on.”

      Collector Chara Shreyer’s $8.2 Million ‘Art House’ in San Francisco Is Like Living in a Gallery

      Almost six months after she passed away from cancer at age 75, the longtime Marin County residence of venerable art collector and philanthropist Chara Schreyer has popped up for sale, asking a brush stroke over $8.2 million. Resting in the desirable Belvedere enclave of Tiburon, just across the Golden Gate Bridge, the sleek architectural-style digs come complete with picturesque views overlooking the Tiburon Peninsula, San Francisco Bay and Sausalito.

      Originally acquired by Schreyer and her then-husband Gary Schreyer in the late 1970s — and subsequently customized to her tastes by interior designer Gary Hutton — the three-story structure is known as the “Art House,” and has six bedrooms and a matching number of baths in a little more than 8,100 square feet of gallery-like living space boasting high ceilings and a striking spiral staircase holding court in the slate-covered foyer. A freestanding art studio also is whimsically framed by a half-pair of gigantic red eyeglasses, with the other portion on exhibit at her home in Los Angeles.

      Highlights include a soaring living room with French doors spilling out to the leafy grounds and an adjacent family room warmed by a fireplace. There’s also an office, a lofty game lounge, wood-clad library with built-in banquette seating and window-lined dining room that connects via a butler’s pantry to the gourmet kitchen, which is outfitted with granite countertops, a center island sporting dual sinks, top-tier Bosch, Dacor, Wolf and Sub-Zero appliances, and a cozy fireside breakfast nook.

      An upstairs master retreat features a fireplace donning a marble surround, private balcony, walk-in closet and luxe bath spotlighted by a shower equipped with a large pivoting steel door, while a lower level leading to the attached three-car garage is decked out with a recreation/media room, gym, full bath with a steam shower and wine cellar. Outdoors, the sculpture-laced grounds span almost an acre, and host meandering pathways and an expansive terrace ideal for al fresco entertaining with a built-in barbecue setup, as well as a sunny site primed for a pool.

      Revered as one of the world’s foremost collectors of modern and contemporary art created by the likes of Marcel Duchamp, Mark Bradford, Georgia O’Keeffe and Andy Warhol, Schreyer served on the boards of the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art, and Museum of Contemporary Art and Hammer Museum in L.A. The German-born daughter of Holocaust survivors, she also was an avid supporter of the Contemporary Jewish Museum, where she was instrumental in the Daniel Libeskind-designed expansion in 2008.

      In addition to the Tiburon home, which is listed by Shana Rohde-Lynch of Compass, Schreyer’s estate still maintains four additional California properties, including the aforementioned L.A. spread currently on the market with Ginger Glass of Compass for $13.5 million.

      NBA Star Stephen Curry’s Former Bay Area Mansion Just Listed for $8.9 Million

      When the Golden State Warriors made the move from Oakland to San Francisco in 2019, point guard Stephen Curry had to give up his East Bay digs due to the commute. Now, the behemoth manse that the NBA star and his wife Ayesha custom-built is back on the market once again.

      Located in the suburbs of Alamo, the epic estate was completed in 2018 and sold for $6.4 million just one year later in an off-market deal, current owner Sam Hirbod told The Wall Street Journal. Fast forward three years, Curry’s former pad is now asking $8.9 million.

      Sited on nearly one and a half acres, the home offers six bedrooms, eight and a half baths and a range of flashy amenities that were customized to the Curry’s tastes. Think a vegetable garden for Ayesha, a billiards room and home theater for Steph and even a personalized playhouse for their kids.

      The couple enlisted Stephen Kubitschek to spearhead the abode’s design. The 8,163-square-foot interior feels ultra modern thanks to the 30-foot ceilings, large expanses of glass, heated Italian wood floors and double-sided fireplaces. Like many contemporary homes, the layout is centered around indoor-outdoor living. Custom Fleetwood sliding doors connect the living area with the backyard, which plays host to a saltwater infinity pool, a cabana, a pizza oven, a smoker and a grill.

      You can expect a fair share of glitzy features fit for basketball royalty, too. According to Hirbod, Steph dropped $500,000 on the media center, which is outfitted with a top-notch projector and sound system. Since Ayesha’s is quite the gourmet, the kitchen has been decked out with dual islands, Miele and Sub-Zero appliances and sleek, European-style cabinets. Of course, there’s also a seven-car garage for your collection.

      Upstairs, there are separate guest and children wings that make the primary suite feel all the more private. The Curry’s one-time suite is as luxurious as you’d imagine with a 1,160-square-foot terrace and not one but three walk-in closets.       A $2.85 Million California Ranch That Once Belonged to Debbie Reynolds and Carrie Fisher Hits the Market

      A California ranch where late screen legends Debbie Reynolds and her daughter Carrie Fisher once lived has just hit the market—and could come with a lot of celebrity memorabilia.

      The 44-acre estate in Creston, dubbed Freedom Farms, is being offered up for $2.85 million by Home & Ranch Sotheby’s International Realty. It comprises a 7,800-square-foot main house, a barn, lake, hot springs and a pair of outbuildings that span 17,000 square feet. Prior to her and Carrie’s passing in 2016, Reynolds owned the property for the last three decades alongside her son, Todd Fisher. “The family compound was the site of hundreds of gatherings, sing-alongs and served as a tranquil retreat for Hollywood’s elite,” notes the listing.

      Nestled into a private valley dotted with live oak trees and less than three hours from LA or San Francisco, Reynolds purchased the parcel in the ‘80s and put up the eight-bedroom, seven-and-a-half-bath main house in 1991. Inside, the Central Coast abode appears cozy, clad with custom tile, woodwork and high ceilings. The walls here tell all kinds of stories, enlivened by artifacts, family heirlooms and old photographs.

      A grand piano acts as the centerpiece of the living room, which son Todd tells SF Gate is the same one “that accompanied Frank Sinatra, Tony Bennett and Dean Martin.” Elsewhere is a home theater where Reynolds and Carrie would screen their choice of over 5,000 movie titles, which are said to be stored behind the projector.
      Right outside are the barn and two sprawling warehouses. While the latter is mainly used for storage, it’s where you’ll also find a sound stage, recording studio and office spaces. There’s even a cement helicopter pad and loading docks.

      “There certainly is some memorabilia that I would be fine parting with…Certain furniture or certain artwork that I would be fine with leaving, that’s all negotiable. But there’s also things that don’t fit that bill. There’s some rare stuff on the walls, some really high-end photography, and some family things,” Todd tells SF Gate. “But, if the right person shows the right—let’s just say concern and care—and I felt that they were going to look after something, I wouldn’t have any problem because that’s what Debbie wanted. She wanted to share some of that with her fans. And our storage room is bursting at the seams.”

      Elon Musk Vowed to ‘Own No House.’ Now He’s Reportedly Sold His $32 Million San Francisco Home.

      Elon Musk seems to be making good on his promise to “own no house.”

      Last year, the SpaceX CEO tweeted out that he would sell all of his real estate in an effort to offload “almost all physical possessions.” By the end of the year, he had ditched four of his Bel Air residences for a combined $62 million. Now Musk is reportedly on the cusp of parting with the last piece of property in his portfolio: A San Francisco–area mansion that was last listed for $32 million.

      Musk initially listed the 16,000-square-foot home last year for $35 million, a number that would net a significant profit, as he originally paid $23.3 million for the place in 2017, according to property records. It’s been on and off the market in the months following his initial announcement to ditch all owned assets.

      The historic residence was originally built circa 1912; it was designed by architecture firm Bliss & Faville. It’s since been renovated to suit contemporary standards—the grand ballroom, dining room and kitchens were all revamped.

      It’s a seven-bed, seven-bath parcel altogether, sitting on a spacious, 47-acre lot. In the dining area there’s a “hidden” cocktail room that’s accessible via a retractable wall of library shelves. Other perks include wine and whiskey cellars in the basement, as well as a separate space dedicated to flower arranging. The primary suite, meanwhile, has its own fireplace, two walk-in closets and two full baths—one with a free-standing tub. Outside there’s a pool and a pavilion for entertaining, plus a separate three-car garage.

      At the moment, the property is pending a contingent offer, which means that Musk has accepted a buyer’s initial proposal, according to the New York Post. All to say there’s a chance the deal could still fall through, in which case the billionaire’s last big piece of real estate would still be up for grabs.

      So where is Musk living now? He tweeted in June that he’s currently residing at a rental worth approximately $50,000 in Boca Chica, near SpaceX’s campus. Talk about living below your means.
