    Rihanna’s Former NYC Penthouse Just Hit the Market for $13 Million 

    Back in 2013, Rihanna found love in a Soho penthouse. Now the superstar’s former pad is up for grabs. 

    A two-floor condo in New York City that once hosted the Barbados-born mogul has just hit the market for $12.9 million. Owned by fashion photographer Antoine Verglas, the Frenchman leased his pricey property to the Fenty Beauty founder from 2013 to 2017. Of course, if you only plan to live there for four, five seconds à la RiRi, the abode is also available to rent—for a whopping $45,000 a month, that is. 

    The duplex penthouse spans the top two levels of 129 Lafayette Street, which borders the Soho and Nolita neighborhoods. The building itself was originally built in 1911 as a light manufacturing facility. Nearly a century later in 2004, it was converted into a luxury residential development. Across the home’s 7,000 square feet are four bedrooms, three full bathrooms and one half bath. An added perk is a 2,400-square-foot landscaped wraparound terrace: aka, your private outdoor oasis with 360-degree views of Manhattan.

    Inside, you’ll find all the makings of a bright and airy prewar apartment. Details include oversized windows, custom concrete flooring and soaring 13-foot ceilings throughout. A key-locked elevator takes you straight up to the top floor and opens to the grand living room which has been outfitted with a wood-burning fireplace. The living area flows right into the ultra-modern chef’s kitchen, decked out with Val Cucine cabinetry and top-of-the-line appliances. From here, you’ll have direct access to that sick roof deck.

    A Castle-Like LA Manse Once Owned by the Red Hot Chili Peppers’ Flea Just Listed for $9.8 Million

    From a futuristic Richard Neutra compound in La Crescenta to a tropic-themed Malibu cottage, the Red Hot Chili Peppers bassist Flea has racked up quite the real estate portfolio. Now, another one of his former California properties has hit the market and it’s chock full of Art Nouveau style and the musician’s personal flair. 

    Nicknamed The Castle, the striking two-acre spread is nestled in the hills of the Los Feliz neighborhood. Originally designed in the ‘20s by Angelus Temple architect A.F. Leicht, the Los Angeles abode comprises four bedrooms, four bathrooms and roughly 5,600 square feet of living space. Michael Balzary (aka Flea) bought the manse for $1.7 million back in 1996 and later sold it for $3 million in 1999 to late Getty oil heir, John Gilbert Getty, reported The Wall Street Journal. The Castle changed hands yet again in 2014 when current owner and artist, Muna El Fituri, scooped it up for $8.3 million.

    Per Balzary’s request, the property now has a recording in the two-story, detached garage (which the rocker surely put to good use). The grounds also come with lush gardens and a basketball court out back painted the purple of Flea’s beloved Lakers. Inside, the architectural estate is laden with Egyptian and Moroccan influences. Think large geometric pillars, arched passageways, hand-cut stone walls and curved gold-colored ceilings. In fact, step into the two-story formal living room and you’ll find ornate trim that’s supposed to resemble the Sistine Chapel, notes the WSJ.

In the foyer, there are soaring 26-foot-high ceilings, a dramatic stone staircase and a grand chandelier at the center. If you’re into rare and ultra-cool perks, check out the observation tower. It’s complete with its own rooftop terrace where you can catch uninterrupted views of downtown Los Angeles, the Pacific Ocean and beyond. If you want a shot at owning The Castle, it’ll cost you a cool $9.8 million.

    Jean-Michel Basquiat’s Final NYC Apartment and Art Studio Are Available to Rent

    If you ever wanted to rent a building with art historical significance, Andy Warhol’s former New York studio and apartment, where Jean-Michel Basquiat lived and worked from 1983 until his death in 1988, has now hit the market.

    The 57 Great Jones Street property in the Bowery is available for $60,000 per month for a minimum of 10 years.

    Basquiat rented the second floor space from Warhol shortly after they first met. Today, the real estate agency Meridian Capital Group described that space as an “open loft space with high ceilings and multiple skylights.”

    Village Preservation, an architectural conservation society, in conjunction with Two Boots Pizza, installed a plaque on the building’s exterior commemorating the former resident in 2016, reading, “Basquiat’s paintings and other work challenged established notions of high and low art, race and class, while forging a visionary language that defied characterization.”

    The exterior of the building is also adorned in street art—a public tribute to the late artist, who started his career as one half of the graffiti art duo SAMO.

    Warhol originally purchased the building in 1970. Prior to Warhol’s purchase, however, the building came with a rich history. Originally constructed in the 1860s, it was purchased by Paolo Antonio Vaccarelli—aka the gangster Paul Kelly—who opened the Brighton Athletic Club in 1904. The building was subsequently used as a metal works business and kitchen supply company until 1970.

    Most recently, the building was home to the exclusive Japanese restaurant Bohemian. Among the neighbors are the galleries Venus Over Manhattan and Eric Firestone Gallery.

    Featuring 6,600-square-feet spread across three floors, the commercial-use building is currently listed with Meridian Capital Group. Of the sale, John Roesch, director and one of the exclusive brokers, said in an email, “We would love to keep this building in the art community.” More

    Steve McQueen’s Former Beachside Hideaway in Malibu Hits the Market for $17 Million

    Edgy and effortlessly cool not only describes the late actor Steven McQueen, but also his former Malibu abode. And if you ever wanted to channel the movie star’s iconic style IRL, his one-time waterside pad has hit the market. 

    The Southern California residence that McQueen shared with wife and leading lady, Ali MacGraw, is officially up for grabs. According to public records, McQueen’s son, Chad, sold the oceanfront home in July 2020. It then changed hands once again in September of the same year when current owner and songwriter Ammar Malik scooped up the Victoria Point property for $8.35 million, reported The Wall Street Journal.  

    Malik, alongside his partner, Chyna Bardarson, spent seven figures to remodel The King of Cool’s former hideaway, which is perched on a bluff for ultimate privacy. Today, the overfall feel post-reno is ultra-modern with huge sliding doors, black-framed windows and rich wood paneling. Or, if you’d prefer to scope out the swell first, there are multiple decks that offer up sprawling views from Broad Beach to Point Dume.

    California Love? Dr. Dre Is Selling His Beachfront Malibu Mansion for $20 Million

    A beach house by Dre could now be yours.

    After two decades, music mogul André Romelle Young (aka Dr. Dre) has decided to sell his luxurious Malibu estate. Located in the celebrity-studded enclave of Carbon Beach, the three-story residence was originally built in the early ‘90s, as reported by Dirt. The hip-hop legend snapped it up shortly after in 2000 for a modest $4.8 million. Today, Dre’s digs will set you back $20 million.

    Fit for rap royalty, the contemporary Pacific Coast Highway abode is set behind a gated courtyard and comprises nearly 9,000 square feet of living space. You can expect dramatic soaring ceilings and walls of glass throughout. No matter what level you’re on, you’re guaranteed direct ocean views, too. On top of that, there are a number of beachside balconies that allow you to make the most of the legendary southern California weather.

    Altogether, you’ll find six bedrooms and seven bathrooms, plus a gym, a sauna and an office.
