    ‘Daisy Jones & the Six’ Showrunner Snags a Historical Estate Deep in the California Woods

    He may not be a household name, but Will Graham is responsible for many hours of Hollywood-style entertainment. The Columbia University grad first garnered significant attention for co-founding 2011’s Onion News Network, for which he won a Peabody Award. He’s since signed lucrative first-look deals with Amazon Studios and co-created the comedy drama TV series A League of Their Own; Graham was also the showrunner of Amazon Prime’s Mozart in the Jungle and the Emmy-nominated Daisy Jones & the Six, starring Riley Keough.

    Graham already owns homes in New York—a $2 million Brooklyn condo—and in the urban sprawl of Los Angeles, where he’s long laid claim to a multimillion-dollar contemporary residence in the Los Feliz neighborhood. So it’s perhaps no surprise that his latest real estate acquisition is decidedly more off the grid and secluded, tucked way out in the semi-remote California city of Ojai, just under two hours by car northwest of Los Feliz—traffic providing, of course.

    Reportedly “the only Monterey-style home in Ojai,” per the listing, Graham’s new estate sits behind big gates on a scenic 2.5-acre lot in the hills. The busy showrunner paid $6.4 million for the keys—a substantial amount of money for the area, but it’s not difficult to see the attraction. The property is a bonafide compound, with a full-size tennis court, a tennis cabana, two guesthouses and a swimming pool, in addition to the large main house.

    That main house is also historical. Originally built in 1933 and owned for a time by the son of wealthy Ojai socialite and hotelier Josephine Pierpont, the two-story structure is surrounded by manicured boxwood and fragrant bunches of lavender and jasmine. Stone pathways lead past multiple fountains on their way to the house, where a wood-paneled living room and fireplace-equipped family room both open to a private courtyard equipped with a full outdoor kitchen, ideal for the quintessentially SoCal indoor/outdoor lifestyle.

    A Coffee Billionaire’s Son Just Spent $7.6 Million on an All-New L.A. Mansion

    Earlier this year, Bob Stiller inked an eye-popping $170 million deal to sell his oceanfront mansion in Palm Beach, Florida. So it’s no surprise that the coffee billionaire—he co-founded Green Mountain Coffee Roasters in the 1980s—and his family have plenty of cash lying around to afford a “spare” home in California. Records indicate a Stiller-linked trust recently shoveled out $7.6 million to buy a property in a particularly desirable part of Santa Monica.

    And while $7.6 million is still a substantial amount of money by almost any standard, it’s a mere 4.5% of what Stiller’s Florida compound fetched about six months ago. Still, that 4.5% buys plenty of nice toys: five ensuite bedrooms, a mirror-walled gym, a soundproof movie theater, a marble-topped wet bar and 22-foot-wide glass pocket doors, all packed into an all-new contemporary farmhouse.

    Built new in 2019, the contemporary structure features about 6,000 square feet of living space.

    The swanky L.A.-area home was acquired by Stiller’s 35-year-old son Christian, the youngest of his three adult children and a Santa Monica-based advisor to the Zendo meditation device company. Christian formerly owned a bungalow in L.A.’s Venice neighborhood, sold last year for $2.7 million, and still owns a vacation home on the scenic shoreline of Vermont’s Lake Champlain.

    The younger Stiller’s new residence also features an attractive façade flaunting a mix of creamy stucco and redwood siding, plus a tri-level floorplan ideal for a live-work situation. The main level offers all the main living spaces, which are highlighted by a sleekly Euro-chic kitchen, while the lower level includes the gym and theater, along with a guest bedroom squirreled out of sight. The four “family” bedrooms are all located on the home’s top floor, among them a primary bedroom with a marble-slathered rain shower and a freestanding soaking tub.

    Hedge Funder George Hall’s Manhattan Townhouse Hits the Market Again at a Discounted $25 Million

    A stately townhouse on New York City’s Upper East Side has once again surfaced for sale. Tucked away in the Lenox Hill neighborhood, just steps from Fifth Avenue and Central Park, the sprawling brick and limestone residence is now listed for a speck under $25 million—or a hefty $12.5 million less than its owner, hedge fund mogul George E. Hall, first wanted for the place back in 2017.

    The founder and CEO of Clinton Group, a Manhattan-based investment firm that managed approximately $6 billion in capital in 2016, purchased the classic Neo-Federal mansion for $11.5 million in 2002. So, despite the significant reduction, he still stands to make an impressive profit if the place sells for anywhere close to its current asking price.

    ‘Dallas’ in Oregon? Patrick Duffy’s Riverfront Ranch Is Headed to Auction

    Last year, Patrick Duffy’s longtime Oregon ranch hit the open market for $14 million. Even though the price was later reduced to $11 million, the picturesque property never found a buyer, so the Dallas star is now auctioning off the compound to the highest bidder.

    Spanning about 330 acres, the so-called Duffy Ranch is located outside of Medford in the city of Eagle Point and will go under the hammer from December 7th until the 14th in a no-reserve auction. According to Sotheby’s Concierge Auctions, who will be handling the sale, starting bids are expected to be in the $3 million to $5 million range.

    The TV legend, who starred alongside pop culture icon Suzanne Somers in the family sitcom Step by Step, has owned the Staley Road residence for over 30 years. Duffy and his late wife, Carlyn Rosse, bought the home in 1990 for $1.5 million. “It was pristine,” he told Mansion Global. “There was no paved road. There were some trails through the woods and about a mile—a little less than a mile—of river frontage.”

    The property has multiple homes, cabins, and outbuildings across its 329 acres.

    Together, they spent $3 million and the better part of two decades buying up surrounding properties to expand their compound and began living there full time in the early 2000s. Today, the ranch is made up of nine separate parcels, which include two homes, two guest cabins, a recreation pond, and two miles of Rogue River frontage. “The river is the only reason that we considered buying this property,” Duffy said in a video posted to the Sotheby’s Concierge Auctions website, which you can check out below.

    The main house dates back to the 1950s and resembles a traditional lodge—there’s a screened porch and everything. The home sits on a whopping 79 acres of land with four bedrooms, four bathrooms, and roughly 3,000 square feet of living space. Plus, you’ll find a wood-burning fireplace, hardwood floors, and wood beam ceilings inside. What’s surprising is that it also includes an art gallery, in addition to a wine cave and a spa cabin. Elsewhere, the couple also converted one of the outbuildings into an indoor lap pool.

    In 2022, Duffy told Mansion Global that he’d like to relocate to California or Colorado. Currently, his sourdough starter business, Duffy’s Dough, is based in the Centennial State.

    Formula 1’s Jenson Button Puts Colorful Rental Villa up for Sale in Palm Springs

    Seeking a potential income opportunity—specifically a 1930s Spanish-style rental property that’s been revamped in keeping with the iconic style of The Beverly Hills Hotel and Jayne Mansfield’s “Pink Palace,” plus a little bit of Barbie DreamHouse thrown in for good measure? Look no further! A vacation villa owned by former Formula 1 champ Jenson Button and his wife Brittny has just popped up for sale in the California desert city of Palm Springs, at the base of the San Jacinto Mountains, asking $2.1 million.

    Per records, the U.K.-born racer and his interior designer wife Brittny purchased the place in fall 2021 for $1.7 million from filmmaker and screenwriter Josh Evans, son of actress Ali McGraw and the late movie producer Robert Evans. They subsequently reworked the premises for use as “The Mesa Bungalows,” with rates currently starting at $900 per night via Natural Retreats.

    Built way back in 1937, the two-story structure offers four en-suite bedrooms with their own separate entrances and five baths in 2,200 square feet of retro-inspired living space adorned throughout with varying shades of pink and green accents. There also are palm-laced grounds sporting a kidney-shaped pool and spa, white iron gazebo and tiered water fountain.

    Other highlights include a kitchen outfitted with a mint-green gas stove, an eat-in island and a butler’s pantry, along with an adjoining dining area that connects to a living room spotlighted by a vaulted wood-beam ceiling and floor-to-ceiling fireplace; and elsewhere is a primary bedroom boasting a bath equipped with dual vanities, a freestanding soaking tub and large glass-encased shower, as well as a guest bedroom with access to a sundeck.

    In addition to their Palm Springs home, the Buttons also maintain a primary residence in Calabasas. Earlier this year, the couple offloaded a Spanish Colonial-style getaway in the historic El Mirador neighborhood of Palm Springs for $2.1 million; and in 2022, the pair netted a total of $9.3 million on two properties they sold in Palm Springs and Santa Monica.

    Bob Dylan’s Grandson Buys a Hollywood Hills Retreat for $3 Million

    Last year, Bob Dylan sold the rights to his entire back catalogue of music in a landmark deal worth “north of $200 million,” according to multiple reports. So it’s not entirely surprising that the entire Dylan clan is now flush with cash, or at least flusher than before—and that includes Pablo Dylan, the 27-year-old aspiring rapper-turned-folk-rocker son of Bob Dylan’s son Jesse and actress Susan Traylor. A few weeks ago, Pablo paid nearly $3 million for a house in a particularly star-stocked part of the Hollywood Hills.

    Perched high above street level and privately shielded from view behind giant bougainvillea plants and a big driveway gate, the single-story Spanish hacienda was built in 1950 but recently underwent a renovation. Arguably the standout is the skylit kitchen, which was fully remodeled and now sports high-end Sub-Zero and Viking appliances, plus a built-in wine cooler and custom cabinetry. Tile or hardwood floors flow throughout much of the rest of the 2,600-square-foot residence, including into the large living room and a casual breakfast area with French doors opening to the garden.

    Dylan won a bidding war for the remodeled 1950s house, paying $250,000 over the seller’s asking price.

    The main house offers just two bedrooms, though both are spacious and well-equipped with walk-in closets and ensuite bathrooms. But the listing notes that the home’s fireplace-equipped office could function as a third bedroom, and there’s an additional bedroom and bathroom in the detached guesthouse, which was likely once a garage. As it stands now, the property does not appear to have covered car parking, but the gated motorcourt is large enough for two or three cars and there is street parking available in the neighborhood.

    Outside, the quarter-acre property’s grounds are undeniably lovely, with flowers and a grassy lawn surrounding a saltwater swimming pool. While there is no city lights view available here, the place is commendably private and outfitted for entertaining, complete with a barbecue center and multiple terraces for al fresco dining or lounging. Tall trees shade much of the property from the occasionally oppressive SoCal sunshine.

    Like many homes in this particular neighborhood, Dylan’s new digs have a bit of celebrity history. From 2012-2015, according to records, the house was owned by “The O.C.” actor Ben McKenzie.     An Heir to the Anheuser-Busch Dynasty Has Put a $4.5 Million Price Tag on His Oceanview Malibu Home

    On the celebratory heels of welcoming twins, outdoorsy Anheuser-Busch heir Billy Busch Jr., who oversees the hunting and outdoor gear concern Geist, and his professional surfer wife, Kirra (Seale) Busch, have hoisted their fashionably updated 1960s home in Malibu on the market at $4.45 million. 

    Technically, the property was acquired in August of 2020 for not quite $2.7 million by a family trust controlled by Busch Jr.’s father, William K. Busch, aka Billy Busch Sr. Both Junior and Senior Busches starred in the 2020 MTV reality series The Busch Family Brewed. 

    Discreetly set below the street on a downward sloping, quarter-acre parcel with a sweeping, over-the-treetops view of the Pacific Ocean, the flat-roofed residence was built in 1962 in the foothills above County Line Beach at the border between Los Angeles and Ventura counties. The single-story home has recently undergone a sleek transformation to include high-end finishes, wide-plank honey-toned oak floors, and dark-framed windows.

    Being at the far western end of Malibu, the house is about 30 miles and, on a good day, a solid 45-minute drive to the Third Street Promenade in Santa Monica. However, it’s a much shorter distance to Nobu Malibu and an even lesser distance to the Trancas Country Mart. Perhaps best yet, it’s just up the hill from some of Malibu’s best surfing spots as well as Neptune’s Net, the 1950s gas station turned legendary seafood restaurant that’s been featured in countless films and TV shows, including the 1983 Tom Cruise film Losin’ It and Vanderpump Rules (it’s where Jax Taylor proposed to Brittany Cartwright during season seven of the wildly popular reality series).

    A Former Hollywood Filmmaker Just Relisted His Custom Hawaii Getaway

    Almost a year after it first hit the market with a $24 million price tag, a just-like-new residence near Hanalei Bay, on the sought-after North Shore of the Hawaii island of Kauai, has popped up for sale again. But you’ll still need a substantial chunk of change to pick up the custom-built bungalow, which is now listed for $18 million.

    Scott Sloan—who previously owned a Los Angeles film production company, and is most known for the independent features Dog Gone Love, Steaming Milk, and Jack and Jill vs. the World—and his wife Brittany, acquired a three-quarter-acre property for $2.8 million some 10 years ago. The Santa Barbara-based couple then subdivided the lot, renovated and sold an existing structure known as the “Bounty House” for $3.5 million in 2018, and enlisted California architect Kevin A. Clark to craft a new four-bedroom, five-bath vacation house for them on the remaining half-acre of land.
