Raquel Welch’s Longtime L.A. Home Just Sold for $3.1 Million

A little more than two years after she passed away in early 2023 at age 82, a Los Angeles home long owned by Raquel Welch—the legendary actress and enduring sex symbol probably best remembered for her 1960s roles as a shrunken scientist in Fantastic Voyage and bikini-clad cavewoman in One Billion Years B.C.—has officially traded hands for $3.1 million.

First offered a year ago for around $4 million and subsequently reduced to $3.7 million, the Mediterranean-style villa in the exclusive Beverly Glen Circle neighborhood of Bel Air sold to British film producer, writer, and director Justin Hyne for just $600,000 more than the $2.5 million Welch doled out for the place in 2009. Ernie Carswell and Lloyd Ross of Douglas Elliman and Brett Lawyer of Carolwood Estates shared the listing, with Ariel Belkin of The One Luxury Properties repping the buyer.

The fireside living room has a stone fireplace and French doors opening out to the backyard.

Built in the late ’90s, the blush-hued stucco and terracotta-roof structure rests high atop a hedged and gated parcel of land spanning less than a quarter of an acre. Inside, roughly 5,100 square feet of multi-level, cream-hued living space includes a column-lined entrance gallery that flows to a glass-walled living room sporting a stone fireplace and French doors spilling out to a pergola-shaded terrace and sundeck-encased pool and spa beyond.

Other highlights include a formal dining area and an office with a kitchenette. A family room connects to the kitchen, which is outfitted with wood cabinetry, an eat-in island, and a cozy breakfast banquette. Upstairs, four en-suite bedrooms include a spacious primary retreat boasting a fireside seating area, two walk-in closets, and a luxe bath with dual vanities and a built-in spa tub. Rounding it all out: a top-floor bonus space, plus an oversized garage hosting a bath-equipped room with its own entrance that could easily serve as a gym or guest site.

The hedge-lined backyard hosts a freeform pool and spillover spa surrounded by a sundeck.

Long before Bo Derek ran down the beach in her Fulani braids and Farrah Fawcett posed in that iconic red swimsuit, there was Welch in her infamous doeskin bikini as seen in One Billion Years B.C. Though she was named by Playboy as one of its “100 sexiest female stars of the 20th century,” coming in third behind Marilyn Monroe and Jayne Mansfield, the Golden Globe-winning actress (The Three Musketeers) refused to strip down for movies or magazine shoots.

“I am my father’s daughter and that’s just not the way you behave,” she told Piers Morgan on his Life Stories show in 2015. “You don’t do that if you are a certain kind of a woman and that’s the kind of woman I was raised to be.”

Bill Gates’s Former Waterfront Mansion in Florida Can Be Yours for $23.5 Million

If you’ve ever wondered what kind of waterfront retreat a tech titan might choose for a coastal escape, well, wonder no more. A sprawling estate on Florida’s ultra-exclusive Jupiter Island once owned by billionaire Bill Gates has just hit the market for a cool $23.5 million. And yes, it’s every bit the tech-savvy sanctuary you’d imagine.

The property was originally scooped up in 2009 by the Microsoft co-founder’s investment entity, Front Range Investment Holdings, for $5 million, according to public records. Nearly a decade later, in 2018, the estate changed hands again, this time selling for just $4 million, a $1 million loss, to digital media and sports executive John Textor. Fast forward seven years, and the asking price has skyrocketed to $23.5 million, an eye-watering $19.5 million jump that reflects not just the estate’s upgrades but also Jupiter Island’s top-end real estate market. For context, the least expensive home currently for sale on the island demands a lofty $3.75 million.

There’s crown molding and marble floors throughout.

Steven Martine Photography, Inc/ONE Sotheby’s International Realty

As mentioned, the palatial spread has undergone a serious glow-up. Now, it’s one of only 10 properties on Jupiter Island with an asking price north of $20 million—a fitting status for a home with 200 feet of pristine water frontage and no neighbors on three sides. “With its expansive grounds, impeccable design, and unparalleled amenities, it is truly a rare gem in one of the most coveted locations along the Intracoastal,” notes the listing, which is held by Susan Hemmes with ONE Sotheby’s International Realty.

Set on nearly an acre, the 9,500-square-foot single-story mansion isn’t shy about showing off. The open floor plan flows with soaring high ceilings, polished marble floors, and detailed crown moldings. Those who don’t care to take a dip in the Intracoastal will swoon over the heated indoor pool and spa, flanked by a vast patio and outdoor kitchen for those breezy, barefoot dinners under the stars.

And then there’s the kitchen, decked out with Sub-Zero and Wolf appliances, a double Thermador oven, dual dishwashers, and glossy quartz countertops. When it comes to the primary suite, think spa-meets-speakeasy. Dual bathrooms, custom closets, and a private bar with its own ice machine make it a nightly destination in its own right.

From a boat lift that handles up to 30,000 pounds to solar-lit slips, an eight-car garage, an EV charger, and even a mosquito control system, Gates’s former estate anticipates your every need. Add in a Lutron lighting system, whole-home speakers, and eight climate zones, and you’ve got a home that’s as smart as it is stunning.

But now’s your chance to pick up Kid Cudi’s actual home, because the Grammy-winning musician is looking to hand over the keys to his nearly 12-acre estate in the Los Angeles suburb of Calabasas for a dash under $8.5 million.

Glitzy amenities include a movie theater and a fitness room with its own bath, plus a resort-like backyard hosting a lagoon-style pool and spa nestled beside a thatched-roof cabana with a kitchen and barbecue setup, as well as a fire pit, a sports court, and a putting green.

The dark-hued movie theater has a ceiling-mounted projection system and tiered seating.

Inside the brick-accented entryway, a soaring travertine-clad foyer with a striking bifurcated staircase flows to roughly 9,000 square feet of two-level living space boasting a total of six bedrooms and eight baths.

A fireside family room sports a climate-controlled wine closet with room for 120 bottles and French doors opening seamlessly to a pergola-shaded terrace warmed by a large stone fireplace. Abutting the family room is a sleekly designed gourmet kitchen, which is outfitted with dual waterfall-edge marble islands, high-end Wolf and Sub-Zero appliances, and an accompanying breakfast nook.

Inside the Lavish Thailand Villas Featured on ‘The White Lotus’ Season 3

While we’d happily skip the occasional murder at but we’d absolutely check into the HBO show’s jaw-dropping filming locations, the Four Seasons Koh Samui, for instance, Thailand’s stand-in for the latest White Lotus retreat in season three.

But why stop there? If you’re curating a White Lotus-inspired itinerary, you’ll be thrilled to know that several of the show’s most stunning properties aren’t just for drooling over on the TV—they’re available for rent. Take Gary-Greg’s tropical hilltop villa, for example, or hotel manager Sritala Hollinger’s exotic Bangkok mansion. Here, we’re uncovering the real estate marvels they used to film the hit HBO show and how you can stay there while you wait for season four.

Sritala and Jim Hollinger’s Bangkok Mansion

Siri Sala Villa in Bangkok appeared as the Hollingers’s home in season three of The White Lotus.

    Oliver’s Travels

By the end of episode six, Rick (Walton Goggins) and Frank (Sam Rockwell) manage to secure an invitation—under false pretenses—to the Bangkok residence of White Lotus co-owner Sritala Hollinger (Lek Patravadi) and her husband Jim (Scott Glenn). Their mansion is, in reality, Siri Sala Villa, a serene $4,700 per night retreat nestled along the tranquil Bangkok Noi Canal.

The villa mixes sleek, modern luxury with the charm of traditional Thai stilt houses. Think lush gardens, a canal-side saltwater pool, and plenty of quiet spots to relax away from the city’s hustle. The villa’s three separate “ruen” (traditional houses) house a total of six chic bedrooms, while the design honors Bangkok’s rich history with upcycled wood and antique details. Plus, you can enjoy curated experiences like private cooking lessons, Muay Thai training, and cultural tours. And for foodies, resident chefs whip up meals using herbs grown right on the property. If you want to channel your inner White Lotus character, this is where to do it.

    Gary’s Hilltop Hideaway

Two properties, including Villa Amaravida in Phuket, starred as Gary’s villa in The White Lotus.

    Fabio Lovino/HBO

If you couldn’t take your eyes off the jaw-dropping mountaintop villa of the shady operator Gary (Jon Gries), who fans will recall went by Greg in the last season, now you can stay there without any of the tension—well, hopefully. The scenes at Gary’s house were actually filmed at two properties: the modern Samujana Villa 12 on Koh Samui and the luxurious Villa Amaravida, perched atop Cape Yamu in Phuket.

The latter is an eight-bedroom masterpiece available for rent at $5,698 to $13,650 per night and is where most of the interior scenes were shot. This 43,000-square-foot gem blends sleek Scandinavian minimalism with traditional Thai elegance. The property offers top-tier amenities, from a state-of-the-art gym and a multi-court sports complex to three pools and two rooftop Jacuzzis. For a bit of adventure, kayak or paddleboard on the villa’s private beach. Looking to chill? There’s a 12-seat cinema room for binge-watching past White Lotus installments, plus an indoor entertainment zone with a second pool, foosball, and sunbeds. Elsewhere, the roughly $8,048-per-night Samujana Villa 12 features seven bedrooms and a sprawling pool, its design resembling a series of white shoeboxes stacked along the hillside.

    Villa Jacinta

Villa Jacinta on Koh Samui was also used as a filming location for The White Lotus season three.

    Onefinestay

Villa Jacinta, also part of the exclusive Samujana resort in Koh Samui, comes with a cinematic twist. The $1,995 per night residence, featured in The White Lotus, though it’s not entirely clear what scenes were filmed there, was designed in a striking Cubist style. The four-bedroom home is bathed in natural light, with airy whites, soft grays, and luxe creams echoing a sleek Hollywood Hills mansion. Each ensuite bedroom boasts sweeping views of the Gulf of Thailand, three with private balconies.

The villa also features a sunken open-air living area, a dining room, two chef’s kitchens, a media room, and a gym. Outside, guests can soak up the tropical scenery from the rooftop terrace or take a dip in the infinity pool. A dedicated concierge team ensures a seamless stay, handling everything from airport transfers to dinner reservations.

Ellie Kemper’s Central Park-View Apartment in N.Y.C. Is Up for Grabs at $7.5 Million

After first hoisting her New York City apartment on the market in early March for just under $8 million, Ellie Kemper has now lowered the price of her Manhattan digs on Central Park West. The actress and comedian, best known for her roles on The Office and Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt, is asking a discounted $7.5 million for the combined two-unit spread. Unfortunately for her and her comedian and TV writer/producer husband Michael Koman, that’s $300,000 less than the $7.8 million they paid in late 2021.

Found on the fourth floor of The Ardsley, a 22-story Art Deco apartment house built and designed in the early 1930s by Emery Roth, the four-bedroom, seven-bath residence offers 60 feet of Central Park frontage. Pre-war details throughout its 3,750 square feet include herringbone-patterned wood floors, beamed ceilings, and large casement windows.

The park-view library and living room are connected via pocketing doors.

    Niall Schroder

A private elevator opens to a landing that flows to a duo of foyers leading to separate wings. The park-facing side includes a fireside living room with custom bookshelves and an adjacent library, plus a pair of sizable primary suite-eligible bedrooms outfitted with walk-in closets and updated baths.

Other highlights include a dining room and a windowed eat-in kitchen sporting a multi-hued glass tile backsplash, a Wolf range, a Sub-Zero refrigerator, a Miele dishwasher, and a nearby nook holding another fridge and washer and dryer. Two additional bedrooms each have their own baths, as does a small office off the kitchen, while a TV room/den sits next to a wine room that can accommodate up to 1,000 bottles.

The 3,750-square-foot apartment has a total of four en suite bedrooms.

    Niall Schroder

The unit’s $7,709 in monthly maintenance fees allow access to on-site services and amenities like a 24-hour doorman and concierge, a fitness center, a children’s playroom, a library, and even a dog bath.

The listing is shared by Ann Cutbill Lenane and Gregory Williamson of Douglas Elliman.

The residence has 60 feet of direct frontage on Central Park.

Kemper sold a similarly updated but slightly smaller pre-war apartment in the same Upper West Side neighborhood nearly three years ago for $3.3 million, according to the New York Post. A two-time Emmy nominee for her lead role in Netflix’s Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt, the actress has also appeared in The Office, as well as the films Bridesmaids, 21 Jump Street, Home Sweet Home Alone, and Happiness for Beginners. Most recently, she was tapped as “Kohl’s Mom” for the department store’s new marketing campaign.

Former Cowboys Coach Mike McCarthy Relists His Texas Mansion for $5.3 Million

Around nine months after Mike McCarthy’s Texas home first hit the market for $5.7 million and subsequently failed to trade hands after a contract fell through, the former head coach of the Dallas Cowboys is hoisting his Santa Barbara-inspired residence in the Dallas suburb of Allen back up for sale. The asking price is a reduced $5.3 million, with Carrie Himel of Compass holding the listing.

McCarthy, who was released from the team in January after his five-year contract ran out, acquired the property in May 2021, according to property records. Resting beside a golf course on nearly three-quarters of an acre in the exclusive guard-gated Wimberley Place community, the stucco and terracotta-roof structure was custom-built by Robert Elliott in 2016 and has five bedrooms and seven baths in roughly 8,300 square feet.
