YouTube Star Philip DeFranco Lists His Hacienda-Style Home in L.A. for $6.5 Million

It’s been almost five years since Philip DeFranco picked up a Los Angeles residence in the San Fernando Valley community of Encino. Now the YouTube star—known to his 6 million-plus fans as “PhillyD”—is looking to hand over the keys to the hacienda-style home for $6.5 million after previously floating the place on the market as a rental for $25,000 per month. The listing is held by Jennifer Brookley of Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices California Properties.

Purchased by DiFranco and his wife Lindsay in winter 2019 for $4.1 million, the single-story stucco and terracotta-roof structure was built in the late 1930s and rests amid an acre-plus parcel of land fronted by an interior courtyard bolstered by a fountain that’s been transformed into a planter. Inside, four bedrooms and five baths are spread across nearly 6,000 square feet of updated living space, which is adorned throughout with a mix of hardwood and stone floors, arched doorways, and high wood-beam ceilings dotted with skylights.

Home Depot Co-Founder Bernie Marcus Just Put His Atlanta Condo on the Market for $5 Million

He’s putting a nail in his Atlanta property! After more than a decade of ownership, Bernard “Bernie” Marcus has decided to let go of his Atlanta home in Buckhead’s Park Avenue high-rise residential tower near the Phipps Plaza and Lenox Square shopping malls. The Home Depot co-founder and staunch philanthropist is asking $5 million for the condo, which is listed by Nicholas Brown of Compass Georgia.

Records show Marcus and his wife Billi paid $3 million for the unit on the 37th floor of the 44-story structure in December 2010. The couple previously owned another smaller unit in the same building that they purchased in summer 2010 for $2 million and sold four years later for a speck under $1.4 million.

The Park Avenue luxury high-rise building is sited at the intersection of Wieuca Road and Park Avenue in the sought-after Buckhead neighborhood of Atlanta.

    Josh Vick/Home Tour America

As for this particular dwelling, it has three bedrooms and five baths spread across roughly 5,700 square feet of living space overlooking sweeping views stretching from the Downtown Atlanta skyline to Stone Mountain and Kennesaw Mountain beyond. Highlights include a grand salon, which is “an entertainer’s dream” per the listing, and holds a full bar, a card-playing area, and access to a wraparound terrace via sliding walls of glass. A circular formal dining room is topped by a domed ceiling adorned with a custom hand-blown glass chandelier and a gourmet kitchen boasts top-tier appliances and a climate-controlled wine room.

There’s also a sumptuous primary suite outfitted with floor-to-ceiling windows, a seating area, a luxe bath, and ample closet space. Elsewhere is an executive office and a wood-paneled library/study with a private balcony, as well as a guest bedroom and a self-contained suite for live-in staff that has its own kitchen, living room, and bath.

Accessible to a wraparound terrace, the grand salon hosts a lounge, full bar, and card-playing area.

The gated building also comes with numerous amenities courtesy of a hefty $4,071 monthly HOA fee, including valet and concierge service, a swimming pool and fitness center, a landscaped garden, a clubroom, a catering kitchen, wine storage, guest suites, and two reserved parking spaces.

After graduating from Rutgers University in his hometown of New Jersey in 1954, Marcus began his career as a drugstore pharmacist and later worked his way up the ranks at several retail businesses before founding The Home Depot in 1978 with now-Atlanta Falcons and Atlanta United owner Arthur Blank. Marcus retired in 2002 and has since focused much of his energy on philanthropy, having donated more than $2 billion to nonprofits via The Marcus Foundation. The 95-year-old also plans to leave 90 percent of his currently estimated $11 billion fortune to the foundation upon his death.

“Atlanta holds a special place in my heart—it’s the city where we started The Home Depot back in 1978 and built it into one of the world’s greatest companies,” said Marcus, who also owns a home on the shores of Lake Toxaway in North Carolina. “This city will always be part of me and my commitment to its growth, well-being, and success will continue on.”

The nearly 12.5-acre spread, about 40 minutes away from the beachside city of St. Augustine in the suburban community of Palatka, is now on the market for $2 million.

The raven-haired lead singer and songwriter of the rock band Heart, which she co-founded with her younger guitarist and vocalist sister Nancy Wilson, acquired the property in spring 2019 for $885,000 and has since used it as a vacation home to “write new songs and create more music,” per the listing held by Jennifer Martin Faulker and Kim Martin-Fisher of Doulgas Elliman.

Nestled securely behind gates, off a quiet country lane, the property was originally built way back in the early 1900s and has seen its share of renovations and additions through the years. Included is a two-story main home and a fully renovated guesthouse, for a total of seven bedrooms and five baths in a little more than 6,000 square feet. There’s also a pathway leading down to a lengthy private dock resting alongside 510 feet of waterfront footage.

Inside the $42 Million Bahamas Home Designed for Former J.Crew CEO Mickey Drexler

Mickey Drexler, the former CEO and chairman of J.Crew, not only has great taste in fashion but also has a keen eye for real estate. The retail legend commissioned the late French architect Thierry Despont to design several personal properties for him over the last few decades, including a rustic alpine retreat in Idaho and a sophisticated 9,000-square-foot townhouse in New York City, and in 2010, the architect completed a beachfront home in The Bahamas for Drexler and his wife Peggy. Known as Zehava and in the hands of only its second owner, the trophy estate is now being offered for a whopping $42 million, a sky-high figure that makes it the island’s most expensive single-family residential listing in The Bahamas.

Nestled off the east coast of the island of Eleuthera, Zehava occupies three and a half acres within the prestigious Narrows enclave on Harbour Island, along what locals call Billionaire’s Beach, a pristine pink sand stretch of sand. Harbor Island has long been a somewhat under-the-radar hotspot for the world’s movers and shakers, including Taylor Swift, Tom Cruise, Diane von Fürstenberg and Barry Diller, David Letterman, and duty-free tycoon Robert Miller.

Walls of windows give an intimate connection to the tropical surroundings.

    BOND Bahamas

“Zehava represents a rare and unparalleled opportunity,” said broker Matthew Marco of Bond Bahamas. “With Thierry Despont’s visionary touch, this home blends timeless elegance with modern luxury, offering a living experience that is truly one-of-a-kind. Properties of this caliber, crafted by a master architect and located in such a coveted destination, seldom come to market—this is truly a once-in-a-lifetime chance to own a piece of architectural history in paradise.”

Sculpted from a combination of solid poured concrete, natural Brazilian hardwood, and cream-colored travertine stone, the 9,500-square-foot structure gains lightness thanks to a butterfly-style roofline that resembles lifted wings. Internally, the design makes the most of its waterfront vantage point with soaring high ceilings, dramatic expanses of glass, and foldable slatted wood walls that open to unite the indoor living spaces to the tropical landscape.

A two-bedroom cottage for guests adds to the sense of privacy and retreat.

    BOND Bahamas

Despite its ample size, the main residence comprises just two bedrooms and two bathrooms, plus a powder room. In the commodious living room, a floor-to-ceiling wall of sliding glass doors lets the ocean air sweep right in while providing direct access to a covered patio. There’s also a more intimate den, a spacious dining room alongside a serving kitchen, with a galley-style chef’s kitchen clad in warm paneling off to one side. For visiting friends and family, there’s a two-bedroom, one-bath guest cottage.

The grounds encompass broad decks that step down to palm-dotted lawns that roll down to the beach, sheltered terraces for escaping the sun, and a sunken pickleball court.

    Bedrooms spill onto water-view decks.

    BOND Bahamas

Before the Zehava mansion hit the market, the highest-priced offering in the Bahamas was a $40 million property in Old Fort Bay dubbed Aspara. The oceanfront pad, which sold in April for $39.49 million, came with its own dock, a boat lift, and a private beach.

“The real estate market in the Bahamas has evolved to rival the world’s most exclusive destinations, such as the Hamptons, Malibu, and Palm Beach,” added Marco, who also represented the Aspara deal. “The demand for luxury properties here has surged as more discerning buyers seek not only a smart investment but also a serene, breathtaking environment to call home. The Bahamas is now firmly on the map as one of the world’s premier luxury markets.”

‘Real Housewives’ Star Angie Katsanevas Lists Her Modern Utah Home for $4.5 Million

Just as Season 5 of The Real Housewives of Salt Lake City is getting cranked up on Bravo, complete with lots of drama right out of the gate, cast member Angie Katsanevas has decided to put her Utah home up for sale. The Greek reality show star and her husband Shawn Trujillo are asking $4.5 million for the modern residence, which is listed by Dorthy Androulidakis of Summit Sotheby’s International Realty.

The couple, who own several beauty salons across three states, acquired the modern spread in 2020 shortly after it was completed. Resting on a hillside parcel spanning over a third of an acre, within the affluent Upper Avenues neighborhood, the boxy all-white structure features four bedrooms and an equal number of baths in a little more than 6,300 square feet of three-level living space punctuated throughout with ash-toned hardwood floors, high ceilings, designer light fixtures, and walls of glass providing picturesque views of the surrounding mountains and valleys.

One of two seating areas in the living room is dominated by a massive stone fireplace.

    Summit Sotheby’s International Realty

Among the main-level highlights is a soaring open-concept great room, which is centered around a show kitchen outfitted with custom cabinetry, a 16-foot island, Miele appliances, and a prep kitchen hidden away around the corner. An accompanying dining area has sliding glass doors spilling out onto a front-facing patio that has a covered entertaining alcove and an adjacent lounging spot warmed by a gas firepit. Back inside, the living room offers two seating areas centered around a floor-to-ceiling stone fireplace.

Upstairs, the primary suite comes with a separate fireside lounge area, two walk-in closets, and a marble-clad bath equipped with dual vanities, an ebony-hued soaking tub, and a glass-encased shower, while an entertainment-ready lower level is decked out with a screening/family room hosting a linear fireplace and a wet bar. Rounding it all out is a gated driveway leading to an attached three-car garage, plus a backyard barbecue station flanked by a grassy lawn.

An al fresco lounging and entertaining patio out front overlooks sweeping mountain vistas.

    Summit Sotheby’s International Realty

Katsanevas—who was introduced to RHOSLC in Season 3 and became an official snowflake holder in Season 4—founded Lunatic Fringe Salon with her longtime husband Trujillo in the late 1990s in Salt Lake City. The hairdressers currently have nine locations in Utah, Idaho, and Ohio.

Red Hot Chili Pepper Anthony Kiedis’s Former Beverly Hills Home Lists for $11.25 Million

If you want these kinds of digs, it’s Californication!

Anthony Kiedis, the frontman for the Los Angeles-based rock band Red Hot Chili Peppers, snapped up a Tuscan-esque home in Beverly Hills way back in 2004, around the same time the group recorded their Grammy-winning album, Stadium Arcadium. The lead singer lived at the gated Davis Drive residence until 2007, when he sold it to screenwriter-director Akiva Goldsman, best known for scripting the four-time Oscar-winning 2001 biopic A Beautiful Mind starring Russell Crowe.

Property records show that Goldsman offloaded the three-and-a-half-acre compound in 2018 for $7.8 million to Seagram heir Eli Bronfman and his then wife Nicole Gertner. In 2022, after they split up, the vine-covered estate was transferred to Gertner, while Bronfman went on to drop $35 million in an off-market deal for a bachelor pad in New York City.

Heavy wood ceiling beams and a massive fireplace anchor the light-filled living room.

    Todd F. Goodman/LA Light

All that to say, Gertner is now parting ways with Kiedis’s former abode and has put the place up for sale. This time, the property is priced at a cool $11.25 million. Carl Gambino and Alyson Richards of Compass share the listing with Drew Fenton at Carolwood Real Estate.

Originally built in 1951, the 6,000-square-foot spread comprises five bedrooms and five-and-a-half baths. The lavish retreat is oozing with Old World charm and benefits from a bell tower that’s still intact. Accessed via a spiral staircase, the space not only serves as an interesting design element but is equipped to double as an office or a workout studio.

French doors open to wrought-iron Juliet balconies in the fireside primary suite.

    Todd F. Goodman/LA Light

Internally, the residence channels a certain European je ne sais quoi with elegant paned windows, glassy French doors, exposed beam ceilings, and stately fireplaces. There are also tons of terracotta tile, natural stone, raw wood, and wrought-iron accents throughout. On the first floor, you’ll find a living area grand in proportions and an open-concept chef’s kitchen. The latter is kitted out with a walk-in pantry with lots of storage and a cozy breakfast nook.

Among the more opulent features is the primary suite, which occupies the second level. In true rockstar fashion, the room is complete with private balconies, dual walk-in closets, and a spa-like ensuite bathroom. Outside, the grounds feel akin to a Zen-like sanctuary filled with lush greenery and a trellis-covered patio. An alfresco fireplace, swimming pool, and dining area are certainly perks.

A Bonkers L.A. Mansion With a Kobe Bryant-Themed Basketball Court Is Up for Rent at $250,000 a Month

Looking to join the emerging group of wealthy individuals who are foregoing the hassle of home ownership in favor of leasing? This place just might fit the bill!

After two years on the housing market and a couple of substantial price chops, Jeffrey “Jeff” Feinberg has decided to hoist the extravagant Brentwood mansion he won in a bidding war a little over three years ago up for rent, asking a pricey $250,000 per month. The listing is held by Dan Malka of Engel & Völkers.

The hedge fund executive paid $44 million—a million bucks above the property’s initial $43 million asking price—for the then-brand-new place back in June 2021, before he flipped it back up for sale a short year later with a $4 million jump in price. He subsequently relisted the property at the end of 2022 for a speck under $43 million and then reduced the ask to $38 million at the beginning of 2023, but there were still no takers.

An outdoor basketball court pays homage to the late NBA legend Kobe Bryant.

    Yann Ippolito

Nestled amid a secluded cul-de-sac, on over an acre of land overlooking the Getty Museum, the modern structure known as The Oasis was built on spec by veteran developer Ramtin Ray Nosrati and features seven bedrooms and 11 baths sprawled across almost 17,000 square feet of three-story living space. Glitzy amenities range from a TV wall, a car gallery, and a sports simulator room to a 3-hole putting green and a Kobe Bryant-themed basketball court.

Main-level highlights include a soaring great room showcased by a striking floating staircase that’s topped by a custom icicle chandelier and flanked by a living moss wall that descends to a succulent garden on the lower level. A linear fireplace encased in a floor-to-ceiling stone wall serves as a focal point of the living room, and there’s also a full wet bar with a wine station, a dining room boasting a 1,000-gallon aquarium, and a gourmet kitchen outfitted with a separate catering kitchen and a walk-in freezer.

A sumptuous upstairs primary retreat rests beneath a wood-paneled coved ceiling and comes complete with a linear fireplace, a seating area, a private balcony donning a firepit, and dual closets and baths. And the lower level has a 250-bottle wine cellar (climate-controlled, of course), as well as a 12-seat movie theater jazzed up with a starlit ceiling, sports simulator and massage rooms, a plunge pool, an entertainment lounge, and an auto gallery that can accommodate up to 10 vehicles.

A mirrored gym on the bottom floor leads out to an outdoor basketball court paying homage to the late Lakers legend Kobe Bryant, with the mostly turf-clad grounds also hosting a 70-foot infinity-edge pool and spa sitting alongside a cabana with a TV bar, a pizza oven, and a barbecue station. Rounding it all out are a trio of roof decks and a detached two-story guesthouse, plus state-of-the-art security in the form of a laser system and a 24-hour guard house.

A snazzy car gallery can accommodate up to 10 vehicles or a huge dance party.

A former managing director of the George Soros-founded hedge fund-turned-family office Soros Fund Management, Feinberg once had his own investment firm. The $1 billion JLF Investment Fund was shuttered some years ago and the veteran trader now operates Feinberg Investments, a limited partnership that invests his personal wealth.

The hedge funder is also known for his love of particularly flamboyant homes. Back in late 2019, Feinberg famously made waves by selling his $15 million Hidden Hills mansion to YouTube celebrity Jeffree Star, then followed that up with the 2021 sale of an oceanfront home in the beachside city of Santa Monica for $10.6 million. He also once owned a huge compound atop Malibu’s Point Dume, though that property was sold by his ex-wife Stacey Feinberg for $21.8 million.

This SoCal Estate Was Once Home to Frank Sinatra. Now It Can Be Yours for $8 Million.

When you run across a place that’s been graced through the years by the likes of Frank Sinatra, Judy Garland, Jon Hamm, and Beyoncé, is touted in marketing materials as “one of the most filmed homes in America,” and has the added cache of having been fashioned by a noted architect, you have an inkling that it’s going to be a showstopper. And this sprawling midcentury residence in the suburban Los Angeles neighborhood of Chatsworth, on the western edge of the San Fernando Valley, is not one to disappoint.

To boot, after floating on and off the market for the past decade or so—once for as much as $21.5 million—the estate probably best known as Byrdview, as well as Farralone and Fox House, has just popped up for sale again with a substantially reduced $8 million ask.

“I’m excited that the new owner has embarked upon this very realistic sale for this incredible property,” says Craig Knizek, who shares the listing with Blair Chang, both of The Agency. “After a recent foreclosure, I’m encouraged that the new owner is providing very clear and dependable guidance to the market that this property now is truly for sale. I’ve been involved with this property for 13 years. I can finally and confidently say that this new owner recognizes that path to a successful sale.”

Sir Paul McCartney is said to have tinkled the ivories of the piano in the glass-walled entertaining room.

    Scott Everts/SAE Photography

Originally built by noted modernist architect William Pereira in the early 1950s for New York banking heiress Dora Stillman and her actor husband Jody Hutchinson—who held legendary parties attended by Hollywood A-listers such as Garland, Angela Lansbury, Jane Wyman, Lucille Ball, and Ava Gardner, just to name a few—the dwelling was later rented out to Sinatra for nearly 10 years in the late ’50s and early ’60s.

In addition, those seeking an additional income stream might be interested to know that the house has long been a popular production site for movies and TV shows, including Swordfish, Six Feet Under, The Last Man on Earth, Dreamgirls, Californication, Mad Men, Aquarius, and Beef. Miley Cyrus also shot portions of the music video for the song Flowers there.

The main home is spotlighted by a a 50-foot pool nestled alongside a 2,000 square-foot pergola.

    Scott Everts/SAE Photography

Resting at the end of an almost mile-long driveway, atop a secluded promontory spanning nearly 14 acres and overlooking virtually the entire San Fernando Valley, the walled and gated compound includes a 6,661-square-foot main home and a separate 1,120-square-foot guesthouse—for a total of seven bedrooms and eight baths in a little more than 8,100 square feet of meticulously restored living space.

Inside the four-bedroom, six-bath primary midcentury dwelling are a mix of poured concrete and hardwood floors, copious built-ins, several wood-burning fireplaces, and 16-foot walls of glass. Other highlights include a living area flaunting a cocktail bar with a 150-bottle wine refrigerator, a formal dining room topped by a swanky chandelier, and a kitchen sporting an eat-in island and stainless appliances. There’s also an entertaining room and a lavish primary suite boasting a fireside seating area, a bespoke closet, and a spacious bath equipped with dual vanities and a soaking tub.

President John F. Kennedy and Marilyn Monroe allegedly trysted in the guesthouse while Frank Sinatra was living there.

    Scott Everts/SAE Photography

Separate from the main house is a one-bedroom guesthouse, where JFK and Marilyn Monroe supposedly engaged in a tryst. It includes its own dipping pool. Rounding it all out are the resort-like grounds showcased by a 50-foot pool surrounded by a flagstone sundeck and a 2,000-square-foot pergola, along with a three-car garage and parking for more than 200 vehicles.
