Brooke Shields’s Former Los Angeles Home Hits the Market for $8.7 Million

Two years ago, Brooke Shields sold her longtime Los Angeles home to actor Sam Page, whose credits include Mad Men and about a dozen Hallmark TV movies, and his spouse Cassidy Boesch for $7.4 million. Boesch’s parent’s co-own the property according to property records. Now, the OG supermodel and Golden Globe-nominated actress’s former home in Pacific Palisades has resurfaced, asking just shy of $8.7 million.

Located in the sought-after Riviera neighborhood and originally built in 1982, the Pretty Baby star splashed out $3.3 million for the hillside pad back in 1997, when she was still married to professional tennis player Andre Agassi. For years before she sold it, New York City-based Shields had the chalet-style spread on and off the rental market several times and it allegedly served as a crash pad for Ben Affleck after he and his then-wife Jennifer Garner split up in 2016. (At the time, Affleck and Garner still owned a sprawling estate a couple of doors down.)

A whitewashed stone fireplace anchors the living room.

    Ryan Lahiff

“This celebrity pedigreed estate boasts expansive mountain and canyon views, and a peaceful country ambiance—a calming departure from the busy L.A. lifestyle,” notes the listing, which is being held by Alla Furman, David Kramer, and Andrew Buss with Hilton & Hyland | Forbes Global Properties.

The gated residence sits on close to half an acre and features five bedrooms and six bathrooms across 5,345 square feet. The interior has a charming and rustic farmhouse feel to it, complete with French doors, shiplap walls, vaulted and beamed ceilings, dark Douglas fir wooden floors, and several wood-burning stone fireplaces. The main level, built for entertaining, is decked out with a formal living room, a dining area, and an open-plan chef’s kitchen. The latter sports a marble island and a super cozy fireside breakfast nook. Another highlight of the main level is the giant wraparound terrace.

A broad terrace wraps around the upper floor, offering open views over the neighborhood.

    Ryan Lahiff

The primary suite takes up the entire top floor and leads out to a balcony that overlooks the Getty Center. In addition to a lofted office area and a separate sitting room, there’s a custom walk-in closet and a spacious bathroom with a marble shower, a soaking tub and a whitewashed brick fireplace. The rest of the bedrooms are located on the lower level, which also holds a massive game room with a wet bar, as well as a media lounge for movie nights.

Notched into the hillside below the house, a freeform swimming pool and spa are surrounded by lush greenery. And, if potential buyers are eager to expand their footprint, an adjacent parcel of 1.72 acres—it is currently being used as additional outdoor space for 1710 San Remo—is available to purchase separately for $6.35 million, which would bring the total amount of land to over two acres.

Thandiwe Newton’s Former Rustic-Chic SoCal Retreat Hits the Market for $4.2 Million

Almost two years after Thandiwe Newton sold her home in the rural Los Angeles County community of Topanga Canyon for $2.75 million following a swift four-month stay, the Westworld star’s former residence has once again surfaced for sale. The rustic yet chic abode in the foothills above Malibu is now going for a smidge under $4.2 million, with the listing held by John Galich of Sotheby’s International Realty.

Records show the veteran film and TV actress acquired the property in September 2022 for $2.6 million from fashion designer-turned-astrologist Lily Ashwell and then promptly turned around and transferred the place in January 2023. Before that, the celeb-pedigreed digs were occupied by married actors Julianne Nicholson and Jonathan Cake.

The mountain-view living room features a massive fireplace built by master stonemason Jack Rice.

Originally built in the 1970s but extensively renovated by the current owner, the timber-clad structure is tucked away at the end of a cul-de-sac in the “climate-perfect” Fernwood neighborhood, amid two parcels of land spanning over a third of an acre. Inside, four bedrooms and five baths are filtered across roughly 3,000 square feet of multi-level living space that’s been revamped by a former set designer and architectural preservation specialist, per marketing materials.

Upon entering the front door via a shrubbery-lined walkway, an entry foyer displaying a curving staircase flows to a double-height living room sporting a 20-foot rock fireplace crafted by the late stonemason Jack Rice. Walls of glass frame picturesque views of the Santa Monica Mountains. An adjacent dining area connects to the kitchen, which is outfitted with ceramic countertops, open shelving, a breakfast bar, and a vintage range. An expansive wraparound deck is also accessible from both the living room and kitchen.

The lower-level primary suite has glass doors spilling out onto a brick terrace.

Elsewhere is a lofted office and a wet bar-equipped lounge area with a built-in banquette, as well as an ensuite primary bedroom that comes with the original brick fireplace, plus a walk-in closet and a private terrace. Outdoors, the grounds are laced with mature oak and eucalyptus trees and host a natural plunge pool, a Finnish sauna, and meandering pathways leading to numerous spots for alfresco lounging and entertaining. There’s also an art studio, plus a guesthouse nestled alongside a seasonal creek.

The England-born actress, who appeared in the films Crash and The Pursuit of Happyness and snagged an Emmy Award in 2018 for her role as android Maeve Millay in the HBO series Westworld, reportedly went on to buy a historic home in London that she planned to renovate and make her primary residence.

Ronda Rousey Pins a Buyer for Her $1 Million Vacation Home in SoCal

While she’s awaiting a buyer for her cozy, space-savvy bungalow in the oceanside Venice Beach community of Los Angeles, Ronda Rousey has been busy knocking out the sale of a 4.5-acre vacation home she owns in the Southern California mountaintop community of Running Springs, about 90 miles east of Los Angeles and 20-some miles east of Big Bear Lake. Now it seems the retired UFC and WWE star has officially landed a contract for the hillside property, which was most recently listed for a speck under $1 million—or around $235,000 more than she paid for the place a little more than six years ago. The listing is held by Christina Thomas of Goat & Dime.

Within the open-concept interiors, a window-lined living area connects to a chandelier-topped dining space.

    TruVue Productions

Built in the early 1990s and purchased by Rousey for $765,000 in spring 2018, the green-hued and brick-accented home rests in the Rimwood Ranch equestrian neighborhood and offers four bedrooms and a matching number of baths in a little more than 3,700 square feet of two-level living space. Recently upgraded, the newly contemporary interiors sport a mix of hardwood and carpeted floors, high ceilings, and an open-concept floor plan, while the kitchen flaunts granite countertops, a central island, a breakfast bar, newer stainless appliances, a workstation, and a casual dining area.

In addition to formal living and dining rooms, other main-level highlights include a sunken family room displaying a fireplace and glass doors leading out to an expansive rear deck offering picturesque mountain and forest views, as well as a loft-style game room that comes complete with a built-in wet bar. Upstairs, the spacious primary suite hosts a fireside lounge area, a walk-in closet, and a bath equipped with dual vanities, a spa tub, and a glass-encased shower.

Adjacent to the kitchen is a sunken family room that’s warmed by a fireplace.

    TruVue Productions

There’s also a three-car garage with plenty of storage space and driveway parking for multiple cars, plus easy access to the nearby Snow Valley ski resort and surrounding San Bernardino County communities of Big Bear and Lake Arrowhead.

Rousey, 37, currently owns two California and Oregon ranch properties known collectively as Browsey Acres, where she rears Wagyu beef and pasture-raised chicken alongside her ex-UFC competitor husband Travis Browne. In L.A., her two-bedroom, one-bath home in Venice Beach was recently listed for nearly $1.9 million.

Comedian Buddy Hackett’s Former Beverly Hills Home Hits the Market for $18 Million

Before late actor and comedian Buddy Hackett settled into his longtime home across from the Los Angeles Country Club, the legendary funnyman lived at this Beverly Hills estate just a few doors down the street. Hackett, who died in 2003 at the age of 78 at his beach house in Malibu, is best remembered for his roles in The Music Man and It’s a Mad, Mad, Mad, Mad World.

The Spanish-style compound at 718 Walden Drive sprawls over an almost half-acre lot in an area of town known as the Beverly Hills Flats. Over the years, the neighborhood of broad, tree-lined streets and stately residences amid sculpted gardens has been home to a slew of high-profile residents, including Jimmy Stewart, Diane Keaton, and Simon Cowell. It’s also the neighborhood where Howard Hughes took out three homes when he crashed an experimental plane in July 1947 and where, just a month earlier, gangster Bugsey Siegel was gunned down in the home of his girlfriend Virginia Hill.

Hackett’s former digs, which date to 1929, recently got a top-to-bottom spruce-up courtesy of its current owners who have floated the revamped spread onto the market for just shy of $18 million. “They completely took it down to the studs,” listing agent Rochelle Maize of Nourmand & Associates told Mansion Global. “It’s almost like a brand new house.” The main residence features four bedrooms and seven bathrooms in just over 7,700 square feet. There are two additional guest spaces on the property.

Completely transformed contemporary interiors have an easy relationship with the grassy yard.

    Slava Blazer Photography/Alex Grant

The overhaul nicely preserved some of the home’s original architectural details, including the creamy white stucco, terracotta roof, and exposed wood ceilings, while the decorator-ready white-walled interior spaces were largely stripped of moldings and other extraneous ornamentation. Important upgrades also included the installation of new electrical and plumbing systems, high-definition security cameras, and a home automation system with Nest thermostats.

The home is tucked behind a spacious courtyard clad with red brick, and just beyond the front doors are clear remnants of the abode’s past. The staircase is dressed up with decorative tiles, and there are soaring truss ceilings in the foyer and living room. The dwelling also includes a large family room decked out with a custom, step-down bar. This space also contains a wine cellar and custom wall-to-wall cabinets, while the nearby chef’s kitchen is equipped with an impressive 12-foot center island and top-of-the-line appliances from Sub-Zero and Wolf.

A skylight-capped room designed for relaxed entertaining includes a long bar and a huge TV.

    Slava Blazer Photography/Alex Grant

Other standout spaces include a dedicated entertainment lounge with a wet bar and the main bedroom, which is outfitted with a private office that opens onto an outdoor balcony, as well as dual closets, and a pair of spa baths kitted out with heated flooring.

The property’s ample proportions provide plenty of room for a 40-foot-long swimming pool and a pool house with a bathroom, plus a spacious en-suite guest unit above the detached two-car garage. And for those on the pickleball craze, a flat expanse of lawn alongside the pool will comfortably accommodate a regulation pickleball court.

This Malibu Retreat Starred in ‘The Canyons’ With Lindsay Lohan. Now It Can Be Yours for $7.3 Million

With its striking architecture and blockbuster views, a Malibu estate featured in the 2013 movie The Canyons is a character unto itself.

And, if you’re here for Lindsay Lohan’s latest comeback era, you’ll be happy to know that the hilltop home where the Freaky Friday actress filmed the 2013 horror movie—part of an earlier comeback attempt for the child star turned reality TV pioneer turned nightclub impressario—has hit the market for $7.3 million. Russell Grether and Tony Mark of Compass hold the listing. The avant-garde abode at 21940 Lamplighter Lane had a starring role in the Paul Schrader-directed flick, which featured Lohan as Tara, alongside adult actor James Deen, who played her film producer boyfriend Christian.

Even though the low-budget project was considered a flop—it has a Rotten Tomatoes score of 21 percent—the sprawling 12-acre spread inevitably stole the show during the three-week shoot. Due to cost constraints, Schrader decided to work largely with preexisting locations, including the storied Chateau Marmont and the Palihotel Melrose serving as backdrops. The director, alongside writer Bret Easton Ellis, also held a polarizing crowd-funding campaign to raise money, which helped them secure the hilltop home in question.

The living room opens onto a covered patio with a horizon-line view over the Pacific Ocean.

    Marcelos Lagos Photography

“One Kickstarter donor gave $10,000 to the production and another $10,000 to a designer so that Schrader could use his beautiful house in the Malibu hills for filming,” The Times reported back in 2013. “It was a significant break; the house was a stately pleasure dome with giant picture windows, a stairway leading to a pool, and a sweeping view to the sea. It quickly became the most dependable player in the film after James Deen.”

RELATED: This $1.1 Million SoCal House Had a Starring Role in ‘Poltergeist’

Completed in 1978, the modernist digs were originally designed by architect Vitus Mataré. With nods to greats like Le Corbusier and Ludwig Mies van der Rohe, the dwelling sports dramatic angles and curved walls, contrasted by unobstructed views of the Pacific Ocean and Carbon Mesa. “The setting of this home is incredibly unique, situated on its own promontory,” Grether said in a statement. “The private road access makes all of Malibu easily accessible while having true panoramic views of the ocean and surrounding untouched mountains.”

The primary bedroom showcases a wood-clad ceiling and lots of windows with leafy mountain views.

    Marcelos Lagos Photography

Altogether, the compound features four separate structures, including a main house with a two-car garage, a pool house, a detached carport, and a workspace that doubles as a gym or music studio. The four-bed, four-bath primary residence is decked out with vaulted wood ceilings and minimalist finishes. On the main level, you’ll find an open living area, a formal dining room, a kitchen, and an expansive covered patio. The detached workspace is notched into the hillside next to the house, where it has unobstructed views, while a corkscrew staircase winds down to the pool house that is tucked underneath the pool terrace. The sale also includes the lot next door at 2620 Coal Canyon Road.

RELATED: Inside a Chicago Home That Had a Cameo in ‘The Bear’

“It’s extremely rare to find this level of privacy and acreage with ocean views that is still close to Pacific Coast Highway,” Mark added. “The property functions as a compound, offering countless spaces perfect for both unwinding and entertaining. The pool alone has to be one of Malibu’s best.”

This $1.1 Million SoCal House Had a Starring Role in ‘Poltergeist’

Almost five decades after it last sold to its current owners for a mere $143,500, an iconic supernatural horror film house in the Simi Valley suburb of Los Angeles has once again popped up for sale. But this time you’ll need a bit more cash to pick up the keys to the traditional Tudor-esque spread, which is now up for sale at $1.17 million. Per the listing held by Lauren Murdock of Equity Union Real Estate, the place is “ready to welcome a new family, without the ghostly antics.” She promises!

Nestled on over a third of an acre of land, amid a sidewalk-lined street in the Forest Hills neighborhood (aka Cuesta Verde Estates), the property was built in the late 1970s and has been “well-loved by its original owners.” And though there’s probably not a 4-foot-3-inch medium named Tangina wandering the halls or any spooky stacked stairs in the kitchen, the creamy stucco and timber-framed structure still might look a tad familiar due to its starring role in Poltergeist, the movie that became a big hit way back in 1982 and has since morphed into a cult classic. On camera, the normal-looking suburban abode portrayed the residence of 5-year-old Carol Anne Freeling (the late Heather O’Rourke), who was pulled into the spirit realm by a malevolent force shortly after her family moved into their new dream home built atop an old cemetery.

The family room is spotlighted by a brick wood-burning fireplace, a built-in workstation, and sliding glass doors opening to a covered patio.

    Shad Yassini/No.22 Media

Described as having a “thoughtfully designed layout perfect for entertaining, relaxing, and living your best life,” the two-story dwelling features four bedrooms and three baths in a little more than 2,300 square feet of living space. Among the main-level highlights is a tiled entry foyer infused with “good energy,” which flows to a spacious living room sporting a bay window. The adjacent formal dining room connects to a breakfast nook that opens to a covered patio via sliding glass doors and an accompanying kitchen outfitted with light wood cabinetry and updated appliances.

An obvious draw of the home is its large backyard, which hosts a pool and spa, a fire pit, and a gated space tucked off to the side for RV and boat parking.

    Shad Yassini/No.22 Media

A fireside family room with a built-in office space, a laundry room, and a half-bath also can be found on the bottom floor, while an upstairs primary suite rests beneath a vaulted ceiling and boasts a spa-like bath equipped with dual vanities, a soaking tub, a separate shower, and a walk-in closet. Rounding out the Hollywood-themed offering is an attached three-car garage out front and a gated RV and boat parking area off to the side, plus an “enormous” backyard hosting a fire pit, a spa, and a large swimming pool (sans those pesky skeletons, of course).

Psychic Medium James Van Praagh Wants $4.7 Million for His Enchanting SoCal Oasis

Back in 2015, James Van Praagh was seeking a home where he could blend his “meditative, mindful awareness and utilize his clairvoyant abilities to enhance the property and activate a restorative energy that would elicit a natural sense of well-being and love.” He ultimately doled out $2 million and change for a secluded two-acre spread in the San Diego County beach town of Encinitas and then went on to create several “healing gardens” designed to celebrate the senses and to evoke a feeling of peace and serenity. Now, after almost nine years of ownership, the psychic medium is hoping he can channel a buyer who’s willing to shell out the $4.7 million he’s asking for his personal sanctuary-like retreat, with the listing held by Neda Nourani of Compass.

“Working in unison with my guides from the ‘spirit-world,’ I was directed on which plant material to use, emphasizing the aspects of placement, color, texture, and scent,” says Van Praagh. “My guides lovingly informed me to remember that these gardens did not necessarily just belong to me, but were intended for all those who would choose to be caretakers after me. I, of course, understood this and have always believed that every space we inhabit should be better off from having lived in it.”

An al fresco lounging and dining patio is flanked by a cascading waterfall topped by a Buddha statue.

    Sam Chen/Aloha Photo

So, what do the new caretakers get for their somewhat substantial outlay of cash? For starters, a 1990-built home featuring five bedrooms and seven baths filtered across nearly 5,000 square feet of living space. Then there’s the inviting palm- and bamboo-laced grounds, which include a redesigned saltwater pool and spa nestled alongside a pool house bath and an open-air cabana, as well as a fireplace and a cascading waterfall, plus a wealth of al fresco lounging and dining spots and pathways meandering through a dedicated park, a fruit orchard, and hand-selected plants culled from across the globe.

As for the two-story stucco and terracotta-roof home, it’s tucked away behind hand-crafted redwood gates amid a cul-de-sac parcel within the charming and laid-back Olivenhain enclave and offers up picturesque city lights and coastline views. Visitors are greeted by a circular driveway that empties out at an attached garage that can accommodate up to four vehicles. From there, a walkway passes through a xeriscaped lawn and up to double wood front doors that open into an entry foyer displaying a Buddha statue.

An open-concept living area features a sky-lit family room that connects to a library via a two-way fireplace.

    Sam Chen/Aloha Photo

Main-level highlights include formal living and dining rooms that sit across from a wine room and a seated bar. An updated kitchen outfitted with custom cabinetry, quartz countertops, high-end Dacor appliances, an eat-in island, a walk-in pantry, and a breakfast nook adjoins a family room boasting a two-way fireplace that connects on the other side to a bookshelf-clad library.

Elsewhere on the first floor is a primary suite with a separate lounge area, French doors spilling out to a private indoor/outdoor retreat, a walk-in closet, and a spa-inspired bath featuring dual vanities, a glass-encased shower, and a soaking tub topped by a stained-glass window. Upstairs is a movie theater and an additional primary suite that’s currently being used as a bonus space, and rounding it out, per the listing, is a drivable access path that allows for easy maintenance and creates the potential for a large accessory dwelling unit, a barn, or an animal sanctuary.

Naps come easy courtesy of this covered bed found among the lush grounds.

    Sam Chen/Aloha Photo

“This property is truly a unique sanctuary, offering a perfect blend of luxury, privacy, and natural beauty,” says Nourani. “What makes it so special is its serene hillside location combined with the meticulously designed garden experiences that create an enchanting and tranquil atmosphere. There is a special energy here.”

Van Praagh, 65, became all the rage when he appeared as a resident expert on the paranormal talk show The Other Side in the mid-1990s and subsequently rose to fame after announcing the release of his book Talking to Heaven on Larry King Live. Today, the New York-born psychic is still going strong when it comes to helping folks reconnect with their departed loved ones via live readings, an online school, and his Both Sides Now and Beyond podcast.

HGTV’s Jasmine Roth Puts Bespoke Beach House in SoCal Up for Sale at $6.5 Million

If you’re a fan of HGTV’s Hidden Potential and Help! I Wrecked My House, then this particular listing is sure to grab your attention. Owned by none other than Jasmine Roth—the California-based designer and builder behind both shows—the charming abode is now on the market in the Orange County city of Huntington Beach, complete with one-of-a-kind interiors and a roof deck.

The 39-year-old Virginia native, who transforms cookie-cutter houses into custom dream homes and helps do-it-yourselfers with failed home-improvement projects, is asking a tad under $6.5 million for the so-called Roth Homestead, which she and her husband Brett purchased for $700,000 back in May 2016. Kevin Via of Compass holds the listing.

Roth’s custom SoCal home rests in downtown Huntington Beach.

    Michael Radford

Sited just blocks away from the beach in the popular Lake Park neighborhood, the brown wood-sided and white-accented structure was built from the ground up over three years by Roth in her signature “California casual” style. Completed in 2020, the dwelling features five bedrooms and six baths in a little more than 4,550 square feet of living space boasting a mix of porcelain tile and hand-brushed, matte-oiled engineered hardwood floors, along with a Savant Smart Home System controlled with a phone app, three HVAC zones, and a monitored security system.

Nestled amid a fenced and gated parcel of land spanning less than a quarter-acre, the two-story home is accessed by a walkway that empties out at double wood doors that open to the front entrace. Once inside, a hallway flows to an office space with a full bath on one side and a formal dining room warmed by a fireplace on the other.

Fun personal touches include a pet cubby/reading nook beneath the staircase.

    Michael Radford

The dining room connects via a wine fridge-equipped butler’s pantry to the “entertainer’s” kitchen, which has an expansive eat-in island topped with leather-finish black granite, open shelving, light oak cabinetry, custom Viking appliances, and a breakfast nook. An adjacent fireside living room sports a built-in reading nook and a pet cubby tucked beneath the curving staircase, along with pocketing glass doors spilling out to a covered terrace outfitted with three TVs and a built-in Lynx barbecue.

Elsewhere on the main level is a bonus room that flaunts a wet bar and a “secret” bookcase that opens to reveal a speakeasy-style lounge with banquette seating; and upstairs, four bedrooms include a serene primary suite resting beneath a vaulted ceiling and flaunting a decorative fireplace, a walk-in closet, and a marble-clad bath spotlighted by dual vanities, a glass-encased shower, and a vintage black and gold clawfoot soaking tub.

The hedge-lined backyard holds a pool, a hot tub, and a spiral staircase leading up to a roof deck.

    Michael Radford

There are three additional bedrooms and two more baths, along with a TV-viewing area and a laundry room on the second floor. Rounding it all out is a backyard pool and cedar-barrel hot tub, plus a roof deck hosting a firepit and “the only five-and-a-half-car garage in downtown Huntington Beach.”

Roth, who has a 4-year-old daughter and is expecting her second child later this year, is selling because she and her family are moving to Park City, Utah. “Putting the Roth Homestead up for sale is bittersweet,” she says. “It took me three years to build, and it’s been a place we’ve called home for over four years. Hazel was 3 months old when we moved in. I’ve filmed countless scenes of my HGTV series here, and we have so many amazing memories that we’re forever grateful for! That said, as our family grows, we’re excited for our next chapter in Utah, where we’ll be trading sounds of the ocean and sand for our snowboards and hiking trails.”
