Baseball Great David Ortiz Just Scooped Up a Condo at Miami’s ORA by Casa Tua

Baseball icon David “Big Papi” Ortiz just made a power move off the field—straight into the Miami real estate headlines. The Boston Red Sox legend has snapped up a new home at ORA by Casa Tua, the first-ever branded residence from the team behind the buzzy, members-only Casa Tua club and restaurant. Developed by Fortune International Group in partnership with Casa Tua’s founder Miky Grendene, the towering glass stunner is set to rise 77 stories above Brickell Avenue. 

Ortiz—who won three World Series titles with the Sox and remains one of the most beloved sluggers in MLB history—was all smiles as he posed at the sales gallery with his broker, Sheila Rosario Davey of Fortune International Realty. Davey marked the moment on Instagram, sharing a shot of the Hall of Famer alongside fellow agent Jennifer Bautista.

Though details of Ortiz’s exact unit and purchase price remain under wraps, three-bedroom residences at ORA—ranging from approximately 2,300 square feet with expansive terraces—are currently priced between $3.35 million and $3.75 million, offering a sense of what buyers at his level might expect. 

Known for his outsized charisma, Ortiz was reportedly drawn to ORA’s blend of luxury, lifestyle, and culinary flair. True to Casa Tua’s brand, the building leans heavily into food and community, with four on-site restaurants—Terra, Uva, Fuoco, and Vento—designed to bring guests and residents together around the table.

Scheduled for completion in 2029, the Arquitectonica-designed tower will comprise 533 fully furnished residences and allow for short-term rentals. Naturally, the amenity lineup reads like a five-star resort: a 12th-floor pool deck, hammam-equipped wellness center, co-working spaces, and a rooftop bar and lounge with sweeping views of Biscayne Bay. There’s even a three-story sky garden and interiors by Milan-based m2atelier. 

Meanwhile, one of Ortiz’s former homes is back in the spotlight. The five-bedroom, eight-bathroom Pinecrest estate he custom-built in 2019 has just returned to the market with an $11.5 million price tag. Listed with Dennis Carvajal of One Sotheby’s International Realty, the striking modern compound features everything from an Officine Gullo kitchen to a sports lounge with nine flat-screen TVs—and it still holds the title for the upscale neighborhood’s record high sale price.
