Reese Witherspoon Once Lived in This Rustic Malibu Farmhouse. Now It Can Be Yours for $8 Million.

There are several perks to snagging this Malibu ranch. For starters, it comes with its own Airstream and is steps away from one of the world’s most famous beaches. Plus, you’d be living in the home where Reese Witherspoon used to hang her hat.

The actress originally bought this Southern California compound, aptly named Zuma Farms, in 2019. Though, she decided to offload it just one year later, reported Dirt. Now, that same property has found its way back onto the market, but this time the seller is real-estate heiress Meg Haney. If you’re willing to fork over $8 million, the celeb-loved pad can be yours.

A Malibu compound that Reese Witherspoon once called home has just listed for $8 million

Simon Berlyn for Sotheby’s International Realty

Dating back to 1949, the rustic-looking spread sits on roughly two acres and is highly secluded, hidden amongst lush woodlands and 1,500-year-old sycamores. In the decades since Zuma Farms was built, it’s undergone an extensive renovation and, at some point, even operated as a wedding venue. The grounds here currently include a modernized main house, a repurposed barn, a gym, horse paddock and sports court. Plus, don’t forget about that aluminum trailer out back. It sleeps four and has been decked out with its own kitchen, bath and shower.

The spread includes a repurposed barn decked out with a billiards area, kitchen and media center

Simon Berlyn for Sotheby’s International Realty

In the main residence, there’s no shortage of charming details. You’ll find dark hardwood floors, exposed beamed ceilings and white paneled walls. The abode offers up four bedrooms, in addition to an eat-in kitchen, a living room with a brick fireplace, a dining area and a bar. Several vintage details are on display throughout the dwelling, including a claw-foot soaking tub and antique hardware. Just outside, there’s a charming swing set hanging from a tree along with a fire pit and a hot tub. Elsewhere, the barn has been given a similarly stylish overhaul; it sports the same soaring high ceilings and wood flooring but with the added bonus of a billiards area, media space and lofted bedroom.

Graham J. Larson of Sotheby’s International Realty holds the listing.

The Late Tom Petty’s $9.8 Million Malibu Mansion Comes With Its Own Recording Studio

When Tom Petty wrote “I’m watching the water, watching the coast, suddenly I know, what I want the most,” the opening line of his song “Something Good Coming,” he was at his beach house in Malibu. Now, the late musician’s Southern California abode is ready to inspire someone new.

Compass agent Chris Cortazzo, who originally sold the oceanfront compound to Petty as a vacation home back in 2010, has just put the property back on the market for $9.8 million. Sited on Escondido Beach, the 16,691-square-foot property comprises a two-bedroom main residence and a guest house that’s currently configured as a recording studio. It also comes with an oceanfront deck with steps that lead down to a 66-foot stretch of sand.

The guest house is set up as a recording studio.

    Mike Helfrich

“When Tom first walked into the home, he just loved the essence and the spirit,” Cortazzo said in a press statement.

The interior of Petty’s former pad is clad with wood—everything from the tall ceilings to the floors—which gives it the feel of a cozy cabin. The living quarters do incorporate the beachy surrounds, though, with walls of glass that look out to the water. There are also several outdoor spaces that embrace the seaside setting.

“Tommy loved that the beach house was pretty much all original, built in 1950, with a cabin feel,” adds Petty’s wife Dana. “We spent a lot of time there with friends and family.”

In the living room, you’ll find a large fireplace with a floor-to-ceiling brick chimney. It serves as a handsome divider between the lounge and the nearby kitchen. Elsewhere, the formal dining room has library shelving and a sliding glass door with access to that picturesque deck. “Tommy always had his recorder and guitar, as he was always writing and creating,” adds Dana. “I remember him writing so many songs there.”

The living room opens up to an oceanfront deck.

    Mike Helfrich

Both of the main house’s bedrooms are located on the first floor. The primary suite is distinguished by a tiled fireplace, a spacious walk-in closet, a private beachfront balcony and a bathroom with a super large window for sea gazing. Downstairs on the lower level is a family room that can act as an office, recreational space or media center depending on your needs.

As Petty famously wrote, “There’s somethin’ lucky about this place.”

A Castle-Like LA Manse Once Owned by the Red Hot Chili Peppers’ Flea Just Listed for $9.8 Million

From a futuristic Richard Neutra compound in La Crescenta to a tropic-themed Malibu cottage, the Red Hot Chili Peppers bassist Flea has racked up quite the real estate portfolio. Now, another one of his former California properties has hit the market and it’s chock full of Art Nouveau style and the musician’s personal flair.

Nicknamed The Castle, the striking two-acre spread is nestled in the hills of the Los Feliz neighborhood. Originally designed in the ‘20s by Angelus Temple architect A.F. Leicht, the Los Angeles abode comprises four bedrooms, four bathrooms and roughly 5,600 square feet of living space. Michael Balzary (aka Flea) bought the manse for $1.7 million back in 1996 and later sold it for $3 million in 1999 to late Getty oil heir, John Gilbert Getty, reported The Wall Street Journal. The Castle changed hands yet again in 2014 when current owner and artist, Muna El Fituri, scooped it up for $8.3 million.

Per Balzary’s request, the property now has a recording in the two-story, detached garage (which the rocker surely put to good use). The grounds also come with lush gardens and a basketball court out back painted the purple of Flea’s beloved Lakers. Inside, the architectural estate is laden with Egyptian and Moroccan influences. Think large geometric pillars, arched passageways, hand-cut stone walls and curved gold-colored ceilings. In fact, step into the two-story formal living room and you’ll find ornate trim that’s supposed to resemble the Sistine Chapel, notes the WSJ.

Dubbed ‘The Castle,’ it was originally built in the 1920s by architect A.F. Leicht and today has Egyptian and Moroccan influences

Elsewhere, an elegant octagonal-shaped lounge area is swathed in gold as well. Seriously, it covers every wall. In the foyer, there are soaring 26-foot-high ceilings, a dramatic stone staircase and a grand chandelier at the center. If you’re into rare and ultra-cool perks, check out the observation tower. It’s complete with its own rooftop terrace where you can catch uninterrupted views of downtown Los Angeles, the Pacific Ocean and beyond. If you want a shot at owning The Castle, it’ll cost you a cool $9.8 million.

Ernie Carswell with Douglas Elliman and Steve Sawaii and Daria Greenbaum of Compass hold the listing together.

Steve McQueen’s Former Beachside Hideaway in Malibu Hits the Market for $17 Million

Edgy and effortlessly cool not only describes the late actor Steven McQueen, but also his former Malibu abode. And if you ever wanted to channel the movie star’s iconic style IRL, his one-time waterside pad has hit the market.

The Southern California residence that McQueen shared with wife and leading lady, Ali MacGraw, is officially up for grabs. According to public records, McQueen’s son, Chad, sold the oceanfront home in July 2020. It then changed hands once again in September of the same year when current owner and songwriter Ammar Malik scooped up the Victoria Point property for $8.35 million, reported The Wall Street Journal.

Malik, alongside his partner, Chyna Bardarson, spent seven figures to remodel The King of Cool’s former hideaway, which is perched on a bluff for ultimate privacy. Today, the overfall feel post-reno is ultra-modern with huge sliding doors, black-framed windows and rich wood paneling. If you’re curious about what the home looked like before, you can check it out here.

Steve McQueen’s former beach house in Malibu just listed for $16.9 million

    The Luxury Level

Because of its location, expect to encounter some beachy touches, like a storage room with plenty of space to hold your surfboards, in addition to a private staircase that leads directly down to the sandy shore. Two outdoor showers should come in handy if you plan on rinsing off after paddling out. Or, if you’d prefer to scope out the swell first, there are multiple decks that offer up sprawling views from Broad Beach to Point Dume.

The four-bedroom home has been modernized and features sliding glass doors and multiple balconies

    The Luxury Level

In all, it comprises four bedrooms, five bathrooms and 4,335 square feet of living space. On the main level is a bright and airy chef’s kitchen with stainless steel appliances and a wine-rack wall. Elsewhere, an open dining and living room looks directly out to the Pacific. The second level is where you’ll find the primary suite. The space has been decked out with an accent wood-paneled wall, a fireplace, an ocean-facing balcony and a spa-like bathroom. Now, it can all be yours for $16.9 million.

Elizabeth Donovan of Coldwell Banker Realty holds the listing.

California Love? Dr. Dre Is Selling His Beachfront Malibu Mansion for $20 Million

A beach house by Dre could now be yours.

After two decades, music mogul André Romelle Young (aka Dr. Dre) has decided to sell his luxurious Malibu estate. Located in the celebrity-studded enclave of Carbon Beach, the three-story residence was originally built in the early ‘90s, as reported by Dirt. The hip-hop legend snapped it up shortly after in 2000 for a modest $4.8 million. Today, Dre’s digs will set you back $20 million.

Fit for rap royalty, the contemporary Pacific Coast Highway abode is set behind a gated courtyard and comprises nearly 9,000 square feet of living space. You can expect dramatic soaring ceilings and walls of glass throughout. No matter what level you’re on, you’re guaranteed direct ocean views, too. On top of that, there are a number of beachside balconies that allow you to make the most of the legendary southern California weather.

Altogether, you’ll find six bedrooms and seven bathrooms, plus a gym, a sauna and an office. Of course, there’s also an in-house recording studio that has been graced by a certain rapper-turned-producer from Compton. Dre has won no less than six Grammys throughout his illustrious 40-year career, so the recording gear is sure to be top-notch.

Design-wise, the home has a flowing, open-plan layout and is flooded with natural light. The coastal color palette of soft, sandy neutrals is at once cozy and chic. So too are the furnishings. In the great room, a giant stone fireplace stretches all the way up to the ceiling and is one of the most striking features. Nearby, the kitchen has been decked out with top-of-the-line stainless steel appliances. The spacious primary suite, which takes up the entire third level, comes with its own fireplace, sitting area, walk-in closet and a terrace overlooking the ocean.

    Get your money right, gents.
